We had a great vacation here! Stayed very cool in the 95 degree+ hot weather as they have good AC and this rental is the lower half of a house that stays in the shade. Beautiful sunsets from the deck and we could see the fireworks over the city. Close to a supermarket, quick drives to hiking, easy access to good restaurants. The property manager was responsive with questions. Would love to stay again for some skiing!
This was a very cute place. Wish we knew there was an upstairs for rent as well. But it wasn't a problem till the cleaning people showed up at 8am and it sounded like they were coming through the floor. We didn't get to enjoy the closed in patio area in the evening like we wanted to due to no lighting. Also wish some of the trees were cut down for a better view. Could also update the outside patio seats they were all ripped up and uncomfortable. But all and all it was a super cute place for a small family group.
Matthew is quick to answer any questions you may have. This place is unique in a great location. If you are heading to Park City, you are going up I80 in the canyon within a minute of leaving the house. There is also a nice view of the city and mountains from the back deck.
Nice home in a quaint neighborhood that overlooks SLC, close to the University of Utah. The house had all the amenities. It was very clean and the beds were comfortable. There are tenants that live above you though, FYI. The owner is very nice!
Thanks
We enjoyed our stay at this Mount Olympus Grandeur Mountain retreat! My teenage kids thought it was super fun and loved the hanging chairs on the porch... It was very clean and had all the amenities someone might need. The view of the city wasn't amazing from the deck, but I bet it is nice in the winter months and you could still see some nice glimpses! There are a couple of deck boards that need some attention, but it didn't stop my husband and I from enjoying our early morning coffee out there! We were there to drop our daughter off at college and found it was a nice location to the campus but also close to the many other things we wanted to see! We would highly recommend!

About the host

I am originally from Rochester, NY but have lived all over the country. Utah has been my favorite place and I first moved here in 1994 buying this home in 1997. I am an outdoor enthusiast who loves to ski, rock climb, canyoneer, run rivers, hike, mountain bike and generally travel and explore.
Why they chose this property
This home offers many of these activities right out the front door or within a short drive. There are 6 ski areas both EPIC and IKON within 20 minutes and another 4 within just over an hour. You can hike up Grandeur Peak just above the house climbing as much as 3000' to the summit or just 600' to get amazing views of the valley and sunsets. This is a very quiet neighborhood and increasingly one of the most prized areas to own a home in the valley. Everything is close by including downtown Salt Lake City, The University or Utah College and Medical Center, Westminster College, A world class climbing gym, REI and many other shops and restaurants. There is also nearby Millcreek Canyon which quickly get's you into a wilderness setting right behind the neighborhood.
What makes this property unique
A very unique and cozy setting in a great neighborhood. As you drive up to the home from the airport and valley and see the surrounding mountains you will be blown away by the setting and the amazing views of the city and valley below. Sunsets and views are just amazing here and one of the reasons I have stayed so long!! A new Hot Tub installed in December 2022 adds to the overall experience especially after a long day on the slopes. Also a new fireplace adds ambience and warmth.
