About this property

Comfortable Home on Damariscotta River Close to Everything

This home is a gem with location, location, location.

Please note that the changeover day is MONDAY. Minimum stay is 7 nights. Maximum occupancy is 5 adults.

My philosophy of hosting is that I want this home to have all the comforts that I expect in a rental -- you are my guests. Beds will have been made when you arrive, towels will be out, and every utensil you could possibly need is in the kitchen.

In May 2022, I purchased this lovely home on the tidal Damariscotta River after four years of looking for the perfect spot…

The home is all comfort and charm in a great location on the banks of the Damariscotta River! Only a mile from the lovely and lively town of Damariscotta, the location is on a private gravel road (Cottage Point) of 16 residences. Enjoy walking along the quiet wooded road and even walking into town.

The tastefully decorated cottage has 2 bedrooms and 2 modern baths on the main floor. The main floor also has a bright and cheery living room/dining room combination overlooking the deck and the Damariscotta River! No matter what the weather, you’ll always be comfortable with gas logs in the fireplace and a mini split A/C unit. The kitchen is a cook’s dream, well-equipped with gas stove, Bosch dishwasher, lobster pot, and lots of storage.

The downstairs has a large bedroom with twin beds. There is a half bath downstairs. There is a large bonus room for working on a jigsaw puzzle, playing cards, or where kids can play on a rainy day.

Depending on the tide, you can swim off the dock or launch your kayak and paddle into town for lunch or down to Dodge Point for a picnic and hike. Explore Pemaquid Point, enjoy the Farnsworth Museum in Rockland, eat lobster on the deck, browse in antique shops and art galleries, explore great bookstores, visit the highly acclaimed Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, hike the Midcoast's many trails, take a day trip to Monhegan Island... and enjoy world famous Damariscotta River oysters! If your lifestyle is less active, the home offers fabulous views of the Damariscotta River and entertaining birds, squirrels, and chipmunks. The possibilities of enjoying a vacation on Maine’s Midcoast are endless.

Plan to have a relaxing stay!

Better than advertised.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The view was awesome not to mention the hummingbirds, and other birds in the backyard. Ann was a delightful host. The property is beautiful. The house was exactly as described. Clean and well furnished. Everything you need for a successful vacation We went Kayaking in the river another plus. It's on our list for returning to in the future.

Good location. Helicopter host.

Damariscotta is a quaint little town, but the River location does not offer the Maine experience like the coast. Property is well-kept, well-appointed and spacious, but unless high tide, the water is not accessible and not a lot of activities in the neighborhood or immediate area. The host/owner is new to vacation rentals and stopped by every day to water plants and texted concerns about our using the air conditioning during the day while we were away from the property. There are dining options close by and Round Top Ice Cream is near as is Glidden Point Oysters. However, if you are looking to buy live lobsters to cook at home the closest option is Boothbay Harbor.

A banging 4th on the river

Our hostess was great to work with from beginning to end.. A true riverfront home on a tidal cove. We brought inflatables and enjoyed high tide conditions everyday. The filled feeders attracts a constant bird watching experience from deck and the living room, even eagles. Close to many attractions and food options but very private. Thank you, Anne!!!!

About the host

I live in Charleston, SC and fell in love with Maine when I first visited in mid 1970s. Maine offers all that I enjoy and love —- escape the heat of Charleston summers, tidal waters, beautiful views, great gardening, delicious fresh food, art galleries, antiques shops for browsing, and an endless number of hiking trails.

Why they chose this property

In 2002 I bought a quirky little cottage with a "to die for view" on Cottage Point on the Damariscotta River for retirement. Since my retirement, I am spending the summers in Maine in the cottage (yes, I am nearby). For my older age I will need more amenities, and the house being offered is just that...the most wonderful location close to town (7 minutes door-to-door to a great grocery store, 5 minutes to Main St. Damariscotta) plus it has all modern conveniences. I bought this home to live in during summers of my later years. I looked for 4 years to find the perfect house and was grateful when a neighbor called to offer it to me. It is a most wonderful property and location.

What makes this property unique

Location, location, location...private yet very close to town. On the Damariscotta River so perfect for swimming and kayaking when the tide is in...and great views, especially at sunset.
