AMAZING stay on a farm in a city!!!
This vacation home exceeded our expectations by far! Absolutely superb clean designer house, where every detail has been polished and thought through (only on the last night we realized that the owner himself planned, designed, furnished, decorated, cleaned, and provided everything to it). It was beautiful! Reflecting the idea of staying on the farm, the house is animal-inspired, but it is not overwhelming at all! While the kids' bedroom is all about farm animals (bedding, pictures, books, games), the master suite is tastefully decorated in neutral nature colors and designed accordingly. The 3rd bedroom (grandparents, second couple, teens) is super comfy and beautiful. Plenty of extra pillows, bedding, sheets, yummy smelling shampoos, lotions and gels in both bathrooms. Everything is squeaky clean. Fully stocked kitchen with beautiful dishes, cups, glasses, not to mention treats for everyone in the kitchen upon arrival! And all this - is just the beginning, b/c when we woke up in the morning and went on a back deck - we were greeted by the most amazing animals! Farm animals galore - you will have llamas, horses, sheep, donkeys, ponies - right in front of you - all the time! It was SO relaxing and therapeutic to watch them frolic, eat and play. Both, kids and adults in our family, enjoyed watching and interacting with them so much! The house stands in a high-end community, and is a short walk to a nearby Shadow Montn. Check it out! Get to know the owner Jesse - one of a kind!

If I could have given six or more stars, I would have! The guesthouse was spotless, and had every amenity you could ask for. Jesse, the host, was so nice and informative. The experience with all of the animals was above and beyond what I expected. I highly recommend!

True “Sanctuary in the City”
My fiance and I were looking for a “staycation” as a babymoon for our triple rainbow baby due in three weeks. This was the perfect option! The guest house is adorable and exceptionally clean. Jesse and his partner clearly put pride in their work and set up for their guests. We’ve already decided we will return after our daughter is born and she’s old enough to enjoy!

Amazing!
This is such a little treasure hidden in the city! You are still close to everything you need but you still feel like you snuck away. The hosts are AMAZING and so friendly and kind! We only stayed one night but we will return for sure. When you walk out the back, you are transported to a happy place. If you have kids, this place is full of games, arts and craft supplies, oh yeah- and animals!! Just say yes!

Second Visit to Happy Hooves, A “Sanctuary in the City”
This was my granddaughter’s 13th birthday present. We came last year and she absolutely loved Happy Hooves! The house located on the property is perfect for the whole family! It’s clean and has everything you need. Just outside your spacious patio you will see the Happy Hooves family of mini horses, mini donkeys, alpacas, horses, and many more animals. Jesse, the owner, will make you feel at home and part of their family. This is an experience you can’t miss!

Vote this rental best and most unique property!
Jesse is a wonderful and thoughtful host. The guest house was impeccably clean and the space was perfect for our reunion with our daughters. We enjoyed baseball games during the day and the girls couldn’t wait to get back to the house every evening to see the animals. The whole farm was just an amazing experience for us all!

An Absolute Gem! *****
The Awesomeness of this property and its owner Jesse cannot be overstated! Part of me wants to just be quiet about it so I can have it all to myself, alas, it is just to Amazing not to share! Jesse is the best host ever! And the animals are so sweet and adorable - it was smiles from start to finish! We stayed for a week but you can also come and visit for the day and have a blast while supporting the farm and everything it does for the community (and your mind, body and soul)! We will return over and over again! A+++++

Awesome Experience!
Happy Hooves AZ is new, clean, and cozy. We arrived late our first night and the guest house was stocked for an easy snack for the kids and Jesse had donuts waiting on the front porch early the next morning! We had plenty of room for our family of six along with televisions in every room, a full kitchen and laundry. There was plenty of seating indoors and out, as well as an outdoor grill! This animal sanctuary in the city is a unique opportunity for a getaway! We learned a lot about the animals, how they were rescued and how they are cared for now. Jesse works hard to create access to healing in his local community as well as making the best experiences for his guests! Any visit, whether one of the day groups Jesse hosts or a stay in the guest house is time well spent! We are looking forward to our next visit! Additional review from my 11-year old son: I liked happy hooves because the animals were very nice and it was very fun helping out with feeding the animals. They were all very funny, but some of the animals were very shy and did not like to be pet. If you love animals I recommend going to happy hooves!

Great stay!
Jesse was an amazing host! He left fresh squeezed orange juice and donuts on the front porch for the first morning we were there. He went above and beyond expectations on all aspects of our stay. The back porch of the guest house faced the yard where the sanctuary animals live, so we able to watch the animals as much as we wanted to. We plan to stay again!

More than....
We have stayed in homes all over the country and this stay was an absolute favorite! This property is truly a hidden gem there are many facets of greatness. Jesse's communication in advance of our stay, sharing the details of the animals and opportunities to interact was really helpful/. We had the option to plan or wing it. With 2 teens and the Thanksgiving holiday, we chose the later. The property had EVERYTHING. Spices, snacks, waters, creamer, laundry soap, lotion, air fresher. The range of kitchen items was so extensive, a juicer, electric kettle, blender... we even borrowed some large pots to take to a Thanksgiving event. The rooms are cozy and spacious, plus a large tub in the master with fresh flowers- OMgosh! Love. The back patio is so fantastic, a swing, several tables and chairs the most perfect vantage point to watch the animals. The farm itself is immaculate. It is so obvious how much Jesse loves and cares for the animals. He spent endless amounts of time with the teens, sharing information and giving them various exposure to engaging with the animals. The teens fell in love with the cows. Their dog Annie was darling and so much fun as well. Jesse brought us fresh oranges from his tree and pastries in the morning. As well, as some incredible parting gifts!! Just WOW. I can not say enough positive. The sanctuary in the city offered our family so much more than a place to stay. We had an experience that we wont forget. PS: The location is super easy, just off the freeway!

Not just a beautiful stay but a WONDERFUL experience!
Everything about this property exceeded our expectations. Jesse and Annie (his dog)were the most attentive, welcoming, & caring hosts. They went above and beyond to make our family feel at home. It felt like waking up on a farm in the city. If you stay here definitely ask about the Happy Hooves tour and experience. The home is immaculately decorated, clean, what the most comfortable beds and everything you could need on a stay. We even appreciated the complimentary snacks and popcorn/movie night. Jesse made our daughter's birthday old dream come true. Meeting all the rescue animals, learning about them, and getting to feed them were highlights of the stay. Annie was just as welcoming of a host come on has the greatest personality and we've ever seen and a dog. Our children were in love with her. We were just going away by the time Jesse and Annie took to make our children stay memorable. You're missing out if you don't book this stay and enjoy the experience. My family didn't want to leave the stay to do things we had planned for the weekend. They enjoyed just being there. Thank you again Jesse and Annie for everything!

The best place to stay in North Phoenix!
Thank you Jesse for a wonderful experience. The house was immaculate and well stocked with all the necessities. The best part was the farm out back. From cats, dogs, horses to alpacas we just loved seeing all the animals! Jesse was very available if needed. He even left a lovely Fathers Day thank you gift! So thoughtful! We will most definitely stay here again and for longer next time!

Townsend Terrace (Happy Hooves Rescue) in Phoenix is a treasure for ALL ages!
Every summer I take my 11-year-old granddaughter on an adventure. This summer I found Happy Hooves Rescue Farm and saw that they had a VRBO guest house right on the property. Prior to booking I met with Jesse, the owner of Happy Hooves, and he gave me a tour of the house and the farm. I knew immediately this is where our adventure would be! My granddaughter and I were the first official guests and were greeted by Jesse with open arms. The house was beautiful, clean, and full of photos of all the animals that you will be seeing during your stay. The house is perfect for a family, a couple or one person. There are TV’s in each room, family games and books, a beautiful kitchen that has everything you need to prepare meals. What makes this house so special is when you step outside you are in the middle of a rescue farm! You can sign up for an experience with Jesse called “Embracing Unconditional Love of Animals” while staying at this beautiful place, or you can just sit outside and watch the animals frolicking around the farm. My granddaughter and I did both. The experience was fairly priced and we learned so much about the animals and were able to pet, feed, brush and sit with the animals. Jesse went out of his way to make us feel comfortable and gave my granddaughter an adventure she will never forget. Don’t miss out on this treasure in Phoenix. You will want to come back again!

I am the founder and chair of the non-profit "Happy Hooves". We are an organization that provides horse and donkey therapy to those in need. From Alzheimer's and dementia, to stroke patients, to children with autism and special needs, as well as those suffering from depression and PTSD. Having grown up on a dairy farm in Minnesota, (relocating to Arizona in 1999)I have always had a passion for animals. I have shown many cattle throughout my young life and have a passion to give back to the community. This organization allows me to do just that. Most all of our animals are rescued, and the most recent two have come from a kill pen from Texas. Sharing this experience with others, teaching them the gift of healing from horses and donkeys, is truly something I love!

Why they chose this property

You will be staying on our property, P&M Farm (Pekarek and Myers, our last names), in the new guest house! Relax on a little hobby farm in the big city! Escape the hustle and stress for a bit and enjoy the serenity of the beautiful animals and gorgeous mountain views! For additional cost and scheduling, you are also able to meet the animals up close and personal and have a unique experience with miniature horses, mini donkeys, mini cows, alpacas, a mini mule, and even a barbados black bellied sheep! We have also started rescuing and rehabilitating large horses as well!

What makes this property unique

Where else can you stay and have your coffee, lunch, or simply relax and unwind with miniature farm animals?! This sanctuary visit will be one to hopefully provide you some rest and relaxation, and a break from the stress of modern day life.

If you are interested in meeting the farm animals up and close, we do offer an experience that may be public or private group. Availability and times vary based on the host availability, prior bookings, and seasonal weather. To book an experience or learn more, please contact host for more details. . The experience supports the non-profit therapy program, Happy Hooves, and has over 250 5-Star Reviews.
