Unique cabin situated in a quiet, beautiful location. We used the cabin as basecamp to explore the Shenandoah NP and surrounding area. Owner was very helpful with lots of tips on what to do and where to go. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Had great time staying at the private cabin. The cabin was sparkling clean with all essentials in order. Definitely recommend the place if you are planning a trip to shannandoah, you shouldcheck out this place. This is a great place, in the best location, and the hosts were thoughtful with recommendations. The space was clean and amazing as advertised.
Property owner gave us great advice to visit the nearby grand caverns vice driving up to Luray. The caverns were great and closer proximity allowed us additional time to make a JMU campus visit.
Patrick is a great host. We were in town for my daughter's graduation from JMU. The cabin was a great alternative from the usual motels in Harrisonburg and was a short 25 minute drive to JMU. Very peaceful place to relax and hike.
Very peaceful setting with extremely gracious hosts! The cabin has a lovely back porch and everything we needed for our stay. Note that the kitchen doesn't have an oven but is stocked with a microwave, mini-fridge, coffee maker/Keurig, and even an air fryer! The hosts gave us great restaurant recommendations, and there is a ton to do and see in the area!
Patrick and Yaya were super friendly, responsive and were very accommodating to us. They were very knowledgeable about the area and gave excellent recommendations on places to visit and dine. The property was clean, well furnished, nice and toasty and super private. We can't wait to head back to this cabin! We highly recommend this private oasis. 5 Star *
Patrick and his wife were definitely the best hosts we have ever had! The warm welcomes with dinner and activity recommendations was very much appreciated! The house was very relaxing with amazing views off the porch! The trip ended with a gift bag of homemade banana nut muffins which were so delicious! Would highly recommend staying at the Miles Retreat!
Everything went very smooth.. host was very thoughtful and kind.. if you want peace and quiet this is the place to go.. hardly heard a peep.. not even from a bird..wasn’t there much thru the day just early morning and late afternoon..did lots of golfing ..sightseeing..and eating out for dinner.. and arrive back at cabin .. sit on front porch.. with a glass of wine and just unwind.. will be back
The property was gorgeous. It was very clean and had everything we needed. Patrick was extremely kind and helpful. He gave us several recommendations for food and activities in the area which were all incredible! Not a far drive from the national park and is a good property to stay in if you are looking to explore the park. I highly recommend staying here!
We had a great time here! Patrick was a very accommodating host and had some great recommendations for food and things to do. The property had great privacy in the woods and exactly what we were looking for. Close to many great attractions
Pros: Very quiet and peaceful get-away. Host is nearby and very responsive. Close to Shenandoah National Park, Grand Caverns, Rafting/Kayaking/Canoeing. An hour from Monticello/Charlottesville. Gorgeous views nearby.
Cons: Only main living area has AC. Suggest you run it early before bed and leave bedroom door open - otherwise it's too warm in the bedroom.
It's a 20-minute drive from the Swift Rung Gap entrance to the Shenandoah National Park. The hosts were very pleasant and they made sure I had everything I needed. I enjoyed my stay.
We had an excellent stay. It is a wonderful property

About the host
Your host
As I retired Naval Officer, I have seen the world and traveled to lands I could have never imagined visiting. I couldn't take my friends or family to all of the countries that I visited so I had a vision of creating something that would allow people to experience something close to amazing places that I have seen. I so fortunate and blessed to be able to obtain such a wonderful piece of land and I am excited to share it with my guest.
Why they chose this property
Nestled in the woods at the base of the Shenandoah Mountains, I could not resist the opportunity when it became available. It is truly paradise. In addition, it is located near all sorts of activities (The Massanutten Resort, Several Caverns, the Shenandoah River, Wineries....).
