About this property

Tiny studio by the Seine and Notre-Dame in the heart of the Latin Quarter

This Tiny gem of a studio is located on a quiet one-way street in the very heart of the historical Latin Quarter, mere yards away from both the Seine and Notre Dame Cathedral. It is close to tourist attractions, shops, restaurants, banking, taxi, bus and metro. It sleeps two people comfortably on a large, new bed. The flooring, fridge, television, coffee-maker, microwave are also all new. The building itself is very safe and quiet. Place Maubert at the end of the street has an open air market three times weekly.

Small Studio - clean, great location.
Very small studio, best for one person, two would be crowded. Has everything you need and everything worked well. Fairly quiet neighbors.

Great value in a perfect location
For the price and location, this apartment really couldn’t be beat. Yes, it’s a small place but we fully expected that and were comfortable nonetheless. The way we travel, we are rarely in the room and just need a place to rest, clean up, and sleep. This served our purposes perfectly. The host was kind and even left us some wine, cheese, and baguette! The apartment is within walking distance to Notre Dame and other nearby restaurants and attractions. More importantly, the metro stop is only a short walk away.

Perfect for 1 person and has all the things you need.
This is an excellent place for one person due to its small nature but that is not a negative thing! The property manager was kind enough to let me check in early so I wouldn't have to wait so long. She also responded very quickly to an issue I had with the toaster. It has everything you need and it is right near subways, buses, markets, etc. The price is excellent for this small gem.

Pleasant stay in the center of Paris
The location of the studio was really good, it is in the center of Paris so everything you need is within walking distance, or you can take the metro from the metro station that is really nearby. The drawback of this is that there was occasionally some noise later in the evening and that there were some (friendly) homeless people sleeping really nearby. The studio itself has a really nice bed and the shower is very good, so my stay was comfortable. However, the kitchen is minimally equipped, so cooking dinner at the studio is not recommended. Lastly, the communcation about my stay was very good, both with the host and with the person who was meeting me at the place to show me around. Both were quick to respond, friendly and quite flexible in allowing for different wishes regarding checking in and out. All in all I had a very pleasant stay at this place.

Not cozy not confortable but perfect location
The positives: The location is fantastic close to the seine, subway, RER, lots of restaurants, the area is a but expensive but you can find everything you would like within walking distance. 4 very good restaurants just outside the apartment. Newer bathroom with hot water although the shower leaks a little bit. Only one flight of stairs. Good internet and excellent communication throughout with the owner and the cleaning lady Nacerra who welcomed us. Refund in 10 days. Advertized as tiny studio, not so tiny 200 sq ft. The price is right only due to the location. Negatives: I do not understand the good reviews. If you are looking for an older Paris beatnik type apartment you found it. Totally cramped . Advertised as tiny studio, we do not mind small, the problem was not the size but the bad use of space. Our main complaint was the bed, the Italian made sofa bed advertized was way too large for the apartment when opened but comfortable seating when closed. When the bed is open you have 8 inch to walk around the bed but there is a 6inch shelve in the way,( we had to remove that shelve temporarily as well as a bar table and 2 stools ) that needs to be moved to open the bed. So when the bed is open there is no access to table and stools. We left the sofa bed open to take naps during the day after our long walks but then we had no table, no stools and an 8 inch access to the bathroom unless you want to roll over your partner. The feather duvet had no cover. Only one clean sheet( I had requested an extra one not received)and what seemed like an unclean older blanket, very rough. The bed sinks in the middle and you can feel the bars in your back, mostly on the left side. Neither of us have much padding. Kitchen: half of the accesible kitchen cupboard is taken by cleaning supplies, right next to the silverware. There are lots of unneeded stuff and personal stuff throughout. The whole apartment needs to be reorganized. The kitchen is useless, no counter space, (no cutting board or large knife that we could find) no table and stools if the bed is open. We were unable to even fix breakfast, unless we had moved the furniture. The apartment is cluttered with a lot of useless, unnecessary and some personal stuff. too much electronics and kitchen ware Amenities: no maps, no shampoo but a bar of soap. Limited towels for our 5 day stay. Unrefundeable, otherwise we would have left, we will not return to this apartment.

Best location in Paris
The studio is in a great location, easily walkable to many sites, as well as restaurants, metro, banks and shopping. It is a small studio and perfect for one person, maybe two. Check in and check out was very easy. Everything worked perfectly, microwave, Hot plate, coffee maker, hot water heater. The bed was very comfortable. The street was very quiet as well as all other residents in the building. Plenty of hot water but be careful not to bump hot – cold water lever in the shower as it can’t deliver too much hot water. The building is very safe and has two doors to get in the building as well as to lockable doors into the apartment. The apartment was very clean and it is as shown in the photos. I would recommend this Studio and hope to go back soon.

The price is right - but not for a long stay
For the price, you absolutely cannot beat the location. You can see Notre Dame from the sidewalk of the apartment. It is a very central location, right next to subway stops, restaurants, supermarket, etc. We also felt very safe in the area, and it was relatively quiet. Really cannot say enough good things about the location. The a/c window unit was also a HUGE plus, as Paris was pretty hot when we were there in July. Most rentals do not have any kind of a/c, so we were very grateful to have it. However, you get what you pay for, and there were definitely some drawbacks and disappointments to this apartment which for us overshadowed the good. Yes, the apartment is tiny, which was thoroughly communicated by the host, so we don't fault them that. The problem was that when the bed was folded out, you cannot walk around it. So if two people are sleeping in the bed and one has to get up in the middle of the night, the only way is to wake up the person next to you by climbing over them. We didn't realize this during booking. The bed was also pretty uncomfortable - the center of it is very sunken in, causing both people to sink towards the middle of it. There were several issues with the shower, and there appeared to be mildew all over the bathroom ceiling. Additionally, the listing says they have a "concierge", but this does not mean much of anything. We called the concierge only once, halfway through our 8 night stay to request one additional roll of toilet paper and a fresh set of towels. We were told that they do not provide these, so we had to go buy a pack of toilet paper just to use one roll. The "concierge" did not check on anything about the stay, other than asking what time we'd be leaving, and denied our one simple, reasonable request. Perhaps these things would not be an issue to a guest who was staying alone, or guests who would only stay a few nights. They can be overlooked for a couple of nights when it means a great location at a great price. But by the end of an 8-night stay for two people, we were very frustrated by these things, and it didn't make for a very enjoyable stay.

Perfect location - place as advertised
Overall I had a good stay and the unit is in a great location in Paris. You can walk everywhere with easy access to the metro. While the unit is very small, there is a large window with natural light and the upstairs loft provides an extra sleeping spot. Wifi worked well and there is a phone in the unit for local calls as well as access to a laptop. Only complaint I have is that the surfaces are uneven (so walking through from the entrance to kitchen to living room changes height so watch your step). There was always hot water but it did shift drastically from warm to scalding, so something to note. For the price point, this is a good option despite tiny bathroom and kitchen area. Everything was very clean. Oh and there was coffee in the unit when I arrived as well as baguette, butter, and orange juice. There is also an iron and iron board that you can use.

Great location - put on your walking shoes and enjoy Paris!
As advertised, a little studio in a perfect location. What you see in the photos is what you get. There is also a small mezzanine above the kitchen which allows for sleeping, but we are on the tall side and opted for the sofa bed. We were met by a greeter (with a baguette and orange juice), with information about the studio (secure, one floor up from the ground). It's very close to the Metro, lots of restaurants and shops, as well as the Seine, Notre Dame and much else that Paris has to offer. We hardly used the Metro as we walked everywhere - including Montmartre and the Eiffel Tower! The open studio window let in fresh air and street noise, but once closed, did a good job of blocking out most of it. Not much neighbour noise was heard. We didn't use the portable air conditioner. The studio kitchenette is enough to self-cater, although we only used the fridge, toaster and microwave. There is a small portable hotplate and cookware if one wishes to prepare meals. There is also a coffee machine, kettle and a tall café-style meals table and two stools. The wifi worked well and there was plenty of hot water and good water pressure. We experienced a few small issues, which we reported to the owner and received a courteous and prompt reply.

Aaah! What a location.....
We loved being in a historic part of Paris and close to a metro stop, grocery store, many cafes, Norte Dame and other sights, a market on Saturday and other shops during the week. We walked most days and evenings to our destinations. The neighborhood was quiet at night. The studio was small but adequate. We didn't intend to cook there but the kitchen had everything except a stove. The air conditioning and wi-fi were a plus. We had a lovely time.

A gem of a studio, the location is superb!
We never stopped marveling howe close we were to Notre Dame, St. Germaine, The Louvre...In fact we walked to all the top sites in Paris including Le Marais and Galeries Lafayette. The studio had everything we needed to eat in if and when we wanted and the loft bed was perfect for my daughter...being older I opted for the fold out sofa bed. We were welcomed with a lovely bottle of Merlot and a fresh artisan baguette and camembert and immediately devoured it. Thank you for a perfect long weekend in beautiful and exciting Paris.

In the heart of Paris!
Location, location and location!! Perfect! Maybe 150 yards to the Seine, and only 50 to Boulevard St. Germain and the local taxi rank. We walked by Notre Dame and through the heart of the Latin Quarter almost every day, And don't forget St. Michel station, an eight minute walk, where you can catch a train direct to Versailles and Charles de Gaulle and Orly airports. Okay, the studio is a small space, but the bathroom is new with a great shower, and all you need is fitted carefully in place. Thank you Helen!

Studio Helene. Paris, France
The studio is small to the point of being cramped, but has everything one needs. We stayed for 13 nights, and at the end of that time we were definitely looking forward to a regular mattress and more counter space, but the location was ideal - steps to the river, very close to Notre Dame and metro, RER and bus stations. Sylvaine was most helpful, and the taxi driver she recommended for us was a jewel. Great feeling of security from the four locked doors needed to gain entry to the studio from outside, and having only one set of stairs to go up was also convenient. The studio also comes with a phone, which we did not know about, and which could be very useful to some. The internet connection worked well. I'd recommend Studio Helene to friends.

MY HOME AWAY
I try to visit this cozy studio once every year, and most recently in September, 2014. It is centrally located in Paris, with everything in walking distance. From the Metro, to Norte Dame, to my favorite, the Batobus. The studio has been recently renovated and is even roomier and more comfortable than before. It is most definitely my home away from home.

About the host

Host profile image
My husband and I bought this studio on one of our trips to Paris. Its ideal location won us over immediately. Although we reside part-time in Canada, Paris is our favorite European destination, so we find frequent excuses to spend much of the year there with family and friends.

Why they chose this property

Location, location, location!
This studio is very small, however it contains everything two people would possibly need to enjoy a very comfortable stay in one of the most romantic cities in the world.

What makes this property unique

The studio is located close to everything a tourist in Paris could possibly want to see and do. There is a large outdoor market 50 yards away, in Place Maubert, held three times weekly: fresh food ,clothing, jewellry, you name it! There are a number of restaurants (French, Thai, Vietnamese, Indian, Mexican) within a two block radius, There are three supermarkets, three pastry shops/bakeries, two or three large banks, ATM machines, laundromats, police station, gym, taxi stand, bus and metro stops close at hand. You will not need a car to explore this city! Notre-Dame and the Seine are both 1 block away, as the book-sellers that line the banks of the river. The Eiffel tower, the Louvre, the Musé d'Orsay are 40 minutes on foot, or 15-20 minutes by bateau-bus.
