Conveniently located close to some of the best area attractions, Garden City Beach is directly south of Surfside Beach and ends on a peninsula at the mouth of Murrells Inlet. One of the most renowned attractions in Garden City Beach is the Pier at Garden City. Other points of interest include Marlin Quay Marina and restaurants Sara J's Seafood Restaurant, Gulfstream Café, and Original Sam's Corner.

Just south of Garden City Beach is Murrells Inlet, a seaside community considered the "Seafood Capital of South Carolina" and home to some of the nation's best golf courses. Once primarily a fishing village, the town is best known for the Murrells Inlet MarshWalk, a half-mile-long boardwalk overlooking a pristine salt marsh, and the many award-winning restaurants along Highway 17 Business in the central business district.

Brookgreen Gardens, a sculpture garden and wildlife preserve built on four former rice plantations, is located slightly south of the MarshWalk. It features several themed gardens with American figurative sculptures, trails through several nature reserve ecosystems, and the Lowcountry Zoo.

If you're looking for places to shop, The Market Common, Broadway at the Beach, Barefoot Landing, two Tanger shopping outlets, Myrtle Beach Boardwalk and Promenade, and many more shopping facilities are all within an easy drive from Garden City Beach.

Looking for entertainment and attractions? Take in a show at Pirates Voyage, Medieval Times, Alabama Theater, The Carolina Opry, or Legends in Concert. Then visit SkyWheel Myrtle Beach, Ripley's Aquarium, WonderWorks, Ripley's Believe It Or Not Odditorium, Hollywood Wax Museum Entertainment Center, and The Pavilion Nostalgia Park.

Other points of interest close by include the waterfront community of Georgetown, the third oldest city in South Carolina and the second largest seaport in South Carolina, and historic Conway, with its downtown Riverwalk area nestled on the banks of the Waccamaw River. Both towns include fine dining, shopping, and historic sites.

Take a day trip to Charleston to experience shopping, a harbor cruise, a city carriage tour, or a plantation tour. Charleston is only 87 miles from Garden City Beach - approximately two hours. It's a picturesque and exquisitely preserved southern city with antebellum architecture, cobblestone streets, and historical landmarks.

Whatever your desire, whatever your need, the Grand Strand offers something on everyone's to-do list. We have a variety of restaurants, retail stores, miniature golf, entertainment venues, charter fishing, water sports... and, of course, nothing but relaxation.

Annual Family Vacation

The beach is fantastic and the house is in a good location. It is an easy walk to the beach and has fantastic views of the inlet/creek access in the back. It served our party of of adults and small children perfectly. Best of all was that sleeping setups allowed for everyone to be separated and quiet, with a common gathering area in the center of the house. Light switches throughout are a little goofy, but most work and there wasn't anything that held us back. The concrete under-portion served us well as a crash pad after the beach and low-key party place once the sun went down.

Nice beach house.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Six of us, adult couples and one dog, enjoyed our week stay at the Pelican Porch. House was very nice and clean, the kitchen was quite spacious and well equipped. The bedrooms in the main house were nice although the bathrooms were set up kind of quirky. The two bedrooms on the lower level not as nice, old very noisy air conditioning units n the windows. tiny BRs, the only shower was situated between the two but in such a way that it faced exactly in front of the entry door. Opps!

Neglected Home - Stay elsewhere

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was more than happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a group of 4 senior men who stayed here for a week. This home was probably in the worst condition of any home that I have ever rented. The two bedrooms that are on the ground level were probably flooded at one time and they did not replace the molding near the floor. The baseboard molding and the bottom of the door jams need to be replaced. The upstairs is in better condition, but a sign warns that you shouldn't lean against the railing on the deck. It was extremely unsteady and an insurance risk. Kitchen was good size and all the appliances were functional, even the refrigerator where you opened the door by pulling a rope!About a week before arriving, we received an email from the property manager that we would each get a set of clean sheets so that we could make our own beds, two packages of dishwasher detergent (for a week) and one roll of toilet paper per toilet.I can't speak for every bedroom, but my comforter appeared to have grape soda spilled on it. My toilet bowl was "clean" but yellowish. It probably could have used some chlorine bleach to remedy that problem. In retrospect, we saw the property accepted animals. Maybe people who bring their pets have lower standards. this home is definitely below average.

Perfect location

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house was very clean, well equipped, slightly older, but we expected that with pets. Check in was simple and the communication with GCR was great-I recommend you book with GRC.

stay at pelican porch

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Good location. Being a local it was easy to get to family. The place was not very clean, and we did not have enough towels. We had to call termite folks to see if there were bed bugs(only found skeletons) tv was very complicated. Maintenance never showed up to fix TV, so we had a family member do it. Overall there needs to be some attention to cleanliness. The plates and glasses had crust on them we had to wash them by hand. We did the best we could and was surely blessed at Thanksgiving.

Pelican Porch vacation - July 15-22, 2023

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a very nice time. Garden City Realty was fantastic, our house was clean and a perfect location. We had some ants but they addressed the issue right away and we had no other issues. We will definitely stay there again and will most definitely used Garden City Realty for future rentals. The only suggestion would be to have a garden house downstairs for rinsing beach items off.

Thanksgiving Family Vacation

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Even though this is an older home, we found the layout and size perfect for what we needed for our family of 12. The lot is large and the shrubbery provided privacy as well as a helpful wind break. We enjoyed watching the mockingbirds and cardinals while we sipped our morning coffee on the enclosed porch facing the inlet canal. The kitchen layout was perfect, and we had what we needed to prepare our traditional Thanksgiving meal. We were grateful to find this vacation rental since it is dog friendly and a short walk from the beach with easy access to the inlet. We would definitely stay here again.

Great Stay!!!!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We rented a home from another realty company we use every year, and were told after getting to the area, that the homeowner stated we couldn't stay because the house isn't ready. There were 11 of us and we needed a place to accommodate us last minute. This was the 3rd realty company and we got a better house for less money. Everyone at Garden City Realty were very nice and eager to help. This is now our new Realty Company.
