Getting Around Falmouth
Once in Falmouth, there are many ways to get around. Most of Falmouth’s beach villages are pedestrian and bike friendly, with sidewalks and bike lanes suitable for kids and adults headed to the popular beaches.
The Falmouth Trolley
Falmouth operates a summer trolley system called the Whoosh Trolley from the Falmouth Mall, through Main Street Falmouth and all the way into Woods Hole. This trolley starts in late June and runs until the end of August on the hour from 9.45 am to 8 pm (M-Th) and 10.30 pm on weekends.
Bus
Cape Cod Regional Transit system runs a bus from Woods Hole to Hyannis (the Sealine Route) with hourly service all year long.
In addition, Martha’s Vineyard Steamship Authority ferry service (SSA) runs free shuttle system from the parking lots at Palmer Avenue (near the bus station in downtown Falmouth) into Woods Hole. In summer, there are several runs per hour as long as the ferries are running (6 am to 10 pm).
Bikes
Many visitors come with their bicycle to enjoy Falmouth’s myriad bike paths and dedicated bike ways, also considered a delightful way to see Woods Hole without worrying about the limited parking. Bikes are also available for rent in many locations in Falmouth. (We don't provide them)
Parking
There is plenty of street parking in most locations in Falmouth. Beaches require day passes or resident stickers (link to our beach page). Main Street Falmouth has three hour free parking plus several lots for short term visitors. In Woods Hole, there are parking meters along Water Street and Luscombe Ave. Those headed to the Vineyard are required to park in one of many parking lots maintained by the Steamship Authority.
Other things to note
We will have a TV in the living room with streaming. Feel free to ask us any other questions!
