Sitting high above Fairplay, Colorado, with views of 14,000 feet peaks, this cabin is the quintessential Rocky Mountain experience. Close to Breckenridge, there's no shortage of things to do. Skiing, snowboarding, and snowmobiling are the best way to put the mountain-fresh powder to use. In the summer, mountain biking and hiking trails are innumerable, making the most of the gorgeous scenery. There's an array of local eateries, entertainment, and family-friendly attractions to keep everyone busy in town!

Inside you'll find a full-wood interior with plenty of natural light, as the windows were purposely built to take in the views. The vaulted ceiling helps give the place an airy and welcoming ambiance, as well as boasting and open-floor plan so nobody has to miss out on conversation. Gather round the wood-burning stove to keep warm while you host a movie night or Netflix marathon. Challenge your group to a fun board game at the dining table, or indulge in grand holiday meals. The chef of the group will love preparing food in the full kitchen, complete with state-of-the-art stainless steel appliances, marble countertops, and all the counter space you'll ever need. Sleep comfortably on the soft beds in one of the two bedrooms, or up in the loft, the perfect space for kids to bunk down and have fun. The main bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with a double-sink vanity and a roomy shower. The wrap-around deck provides a front-row seat to the divinity of the Colorado forestry, the quiet nature of Valley of the sun, and the perfect view for your morning coffee or evening glass of wine. Light up the firepit at night to roast marshmallows and star gaze at the Rocky Mountain sky.

An Absolute Gem

This is possibly the coolest place we have ever rented. The location (up on the mountain, outstanding views, secluded, quiet, not too far from Denver) was perfect. The interior design was comfy and charming and I could sit out on the deck all day/night enjoying the surroundings while enjoying some tunes and tasty libations. The question isn't IF I would book this place again, it is WHEN, and the plan is to make it happen sooner than later. This will be our number one option to book when we have out of state guests coming in town and want to get away up to the mountains! Highly, highly recommend

Fantastic mountain stay!

We had a wonderful stay at this fantastic cabin. Although not far from town, the location atop a hillside surrounded by beautiful trees offers peace and quiet. The views are stunning from all levels of the home are amazing. The layout was perfect for our family of 5. We found the home well stocked with everything you could possibly need. We spent each evening grilling on the patio and enjoying the peacefulness. The kids enjoy s’mores over the fire pit. There are plenty of activities just a short drive away. We found two amazing spots to enjoy a picnic and fish. I highly recommend this property for anyone looking for a perfect mountain escape!

Great House!

We had a great time in Colorado, the house is wonderful. The only problems we had were communicating through Vacasa about a few minor issues. Vacasa was HORRIBLE. They did not respond quickly, and when they did they did not provide helpful answers, it often appeared they did not even read the content of the messages we sent or read the history (someone different responded each time). For example, we wanted to open the glass door to the deck, but it requires a key. When we asked for a key, multiple times, they simply responded at first by asking if we found the key. Then, after we had been there about 2 weeks and I asked again, they told me to look in a lock box, even though there is no lock box and even if there was we did not have any code. I gave up. We had similar issues with a fire alarm on the vaulted ceiling that began beeping as if it had no batteries, even though it is electrically connected. We asked for a higher ladder to reach it and explained that it was electronically connected. They responded by telling us to put batteries in it, even though we could not reach it and it did not require batteries. We managed to stop the beeping by knocking it off the ceiling with a short ladder and a pole, it was still hanging by its wires but luckily the beeping stopped. So my biggest problem was the lack of communication with Vacasa and the owners, and the inability to fix minor issues. But, other than that, it is a lovely house and we enjoyed our stay.

Lovely cabin in the woods

This clean, comfy home was worth the slow drive back in and steep driveway getting in and out. Our family of 3 loved it and hope to stay here again!

Nice cabin in the woods

Stayed over a long weekend with two humans and our two dogs. The spacious porch/deck was well-furnished, but perfect for giving the dogs fresh air while keeping them contained. The house was clean and comfortable with a sort of "woodsy" vibe. The downstairs suite was like a private living space all its own and the upstairs loft is great for kids. The property is at 11,000 feet so it was a lot cooler than the Colorado "lowlands" where we came from. A great cabin in the woods!

Lovely Home in the Mountains

This property is large and clean with thoughtfully decorated spaces. The kitchen was fully equipped and the deck had lovely furniture and a gas heater for cool summer evenings. There was a lot of traffic, so it didn't feel as "remote" as it possibly could.

A true gem in the mountains

We have nothing but positive things to say about our experience at the Valley of the Sun cabin. To start there is wonderful access to hiking and trail running from this cabin. Many 14ers are nearby for adventurous folks but there are many other options for less strenuous hikes too. Running/hiking on Pennsylvania mountain was great. Silverheels is an almost 14er that is quiet and seemlying undiscovered for running or hiking. The cabin itself is wonderful. The quality of the furniture, appliances, etc was much higher than we have come to expect from a rental property. It is clear that the owners equipped the cabin for themselves rather than simply to rent to others. The balcony/deck is relaxing with great views. We also loved the configuration of the cabin. With two main floors and a loft, everyone could have a private space if they needed it. Our kids loved the loft and the parents loved the almost separate apartment on the first floor level. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed (there was even a pizza cutter!) We can not say enough positive about this cabin. We should also say that we really liked Fairplay and Alma. They are cute small mountain towns. The grocery store in Fairplay was incredibly well-stocked. And a visit to the museum in South park was a hit with all of us.

Very nice and private home.

My husband and I vacationed with my parents over the 4th of July. My husband and I (and dog) stayed in the primary bedroom with my parents staying on the lower level. It was nice to have our own space as well as the shared family room. We enjoy cooking a lot and we’re pleasantly surprised with how well stocked the kitchen was re: cooking utensils, pans, etc. The weather was beautiful and we were able to spend most mornings sitting out on the deck enjoying the expansive view and our coffees. We will be back!
