First of all, we really did enjoy our time away. The interior of the cabin was clean, and had an over all rustic charm. The main French doors and window are beautiful. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were soft. Heating and cooling worked well. The basics were covered in the kitchen/bathroom. Definitely an aesthetically cozy cabin.
There were a couple of things that caught us off guard.
The photos could be updated to give you a better idea of space . You could not open most of the curtains without jeopardizing your privacy. I will say that although the owners are right there, it was quiet. The outside area does lack attention to detail and looks unkept. Also note, there is only a mini fridge (which is pictured) so plan accordingly. WiFi service is very spotty but we enjoyed some games and there are some DVD’s available if you like. The stairs up to the loft are not kid friendly.
We had wonderful weather and did enjoy a nice walk down the road and a picnic lunch across the street along the creek. We went out one evening to grampa’s love shack which was really good. Definitely recommend!
We were in the area for the Chrysler Nationals held in Carlisle. The drive to & from the event were pleasant. The cabin was very clean & comfortable. It was quiet, peaceful. Beds were good with soft sheets. Highly recommend
Overall, we enjoyed our stay, celebrating our anniversary. It definitely had a cozy-cabin vibe without the overwhelming hunting vibe that many such places have.
It was a bit far out so getting out to grocery-shop or go to a restaurant took a good bit more driving than we were accustomed to, but that also gave a feeling of quiet and privacy.
The stairs are a bit trecherous. We're thankful nothing was broken—only bruised—when some falls occurred due to the odd stair-spacing (especially with the lighting there) and depth. We'd be hesitant bringing our sleepwalking kid because the stairs only have a rail, not vertical slatting to prevent things from going through.
Fortuntately, my biological clock aligns with solar time, but if you like to sleep in, the lovely arched window has no covering, so the sun will start streaming in, lighting up the place. Just be prepared for that.
The mini-fridge held adequate groceries to do breakfasts at home. There was a coffee maker, stove, and microwave too.
The AC & ceiling fan worked well, keeping a comfortable temperature and humidity during recent hot/muggy days.
Over all, we had a good stay though.
This little cabin was perfect for a long weekend getaway to relax! As much space as my husband and I needed, plus beautiful outside spaces and a fire pit. Would absolutely recommend and would love to stay here again!
My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary Nov. 3-5
in the lovely cottage in the mountains!
It was very clean, and Emily, the owner, was very helpful in answering our questions. I loved rising early to the birdsong and sitting on the balcony with a cup of tea watching a great blue heron and ducks landing in the creek. The location was near state parks with trails and lakes, and only 20 - 25 min from restaurants in Mechanicsburg and Carlisle. We would definitely recommend it to our friends and family!
Super cute and well maintained home! You could tell there was attention put into the little details of prepping for our stay. Would totally visit again

Very nice. Beautiful area. Roads are fun...hilly,curvey,mountainous. Of course we like out of ordinary. Cabin was clean and comfortable. Emily was very attentive. Lives next door. We enjoyed!
Cute little cottage with some history about it, overlooking the river. Google map told us to turn right which takes you into the river. But it was a wonderful place to spend Christmas with my husband.
I can’t say enough good things about this property, the attention to detail in the cabin was so refreshing. They had old DVD’s for us to watch, a cedar chest full of board games. The creek was visible from the balcony window which was so lovely. The natural lighting was gorgeous. It was so quiet and peaceful. The cabin is off the main road and situated on a mountain. We loved it so much that we didn’t want to leave. The owners left a cute welcome note for us and recommendations on where to eat. This was my first time reserving a property with VRBO. Im so glad this was first one we chose.
This place was amazing. We could have some of the best of country living along with the amenities and comforts of home. Jon and Emily were absolutely amazing and we loved everything about the location and the cabin.
