A wonderful lake house with terrific indoor and outdoor amenities. Enjoyed canoeing, fishing and the fire pit after a long day of hiking in Acadia National Park. Easy trip to and from the park. Very remote and private. Highly recommend!!
We had a great stay at this cabin. The pond was lovely, the cabin was spacious with a lot of special details, and we enjoyed staying on the quiet side of the island. It was very easy to get around the island from this location, and it was nestled in pretty nature.
Overall a very nice place to stay. The house is large and clean and, most importantly, the location is excellent. The pond is quiet and lovely and fairly private. Great location on the quiet side of the island. The kitchen is quite well stocked and functional. The one issue is the bedroom facing the pond inexplicably lacks curtains. This is not great as the windows face east- - hopefully rectified soon.
This is a lovely and comfortable home. Loved enjoying my morning coffee on the dock each day. Easy drive to many Acadia sights and plenty of great hiking and things to see on the quiet side. We took the canoe and kayak out on the pond as well. The only reason I rated check-in as 4 stars vs five is that I had to contact the host to obtain check-in info and some basic info about the kitchen, and it took a day or so to respond. Other than that host was very responsive. Kitchen well stocked with basics (oils, condiments, coffee, sugar, etc.) and lots of pots and pans. Overall, a terrific base for our week!

Mixed feelings
We made the best of the amazing location but some negative points. Communication with host for arrival details patchy and had to involve Vrbo to intervene to get a response when pushed. Property was not made ready for our arrival and had to strip and clean towels and beds before sleeping on 1st night.
Host very responsive after phoning Vrbo and offered other prooery25 mins away or cleaners to come 1st thing next day, which we opted for. Promised a full refund for the mix up but no response or refund made since check out.Vrbo also unreachable since end of stay.
Location is fabulous and property it can be said, clearly once was, but it needs care and attention, a deep clean, new white goods, and the cupboards decluttered for goods
The house was a very nice home on a secluded road which made it all nice and quiet. This was a retirement gift trip for my parents. Overall everything was really nice. The only issue is the house has inadequate heat for the size and openness of the home. Though it was an issue the first couple nights the property managers were very nice and brought by space heaters to ensure my folks stayed warm through the chilly nights. They still enjoyed themselves and spent most of there time in Bar Harbor. They only other thing is the outside property could use some TLC which is probably why they are reluctant to show the outside. Some time spending mowing and trimming would really do the property some justice. The inside more than makes up for that. The property managers were extremely nice and very prompt on responses and communication as well as coming by to make sure the heat issue was taken care of. We would certainly recommend this property again just perhaps not as late in the year because of the temperatures.

Unique Getaway on Serene Hodgdon Pond
This was a beautiful spot for our coastal Maine getaway, offering a large open concept home with unique architectural design, nestled next to the peaceful views and sounds of Hodgdon Pond and Acadia National Park. We enjoyed having the extra space to spread out inside the house. The upstairs bathroom was particularly luxurious - offering a large soaking tub which I enjoyed while listening to the sound of rain on the sky lights. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. Some small suggestions for the future would be upgraded televisions, better lighting in the common areas, and nicer bed(s) in the downstairs bedroom. Otherwise, the home was equipped with what we needed to enjoy a relaxing stay. I took the kayak out during the trip and got to experience more of the pond. Although we didn’t use the fire pit area this time, we could imagine this being a pleasant way to spend a cool Maine evening outdoors. If the sky is clear, make sure to spend one night out on the boat dock soaking in the starry sky - with low light pollution we were even able to see the Milky Way! Although this place could benefit from a few upgrades and modernization, I would definitely recommend this location for a quiet getaway for anyone wishing to experience the tranquility of the island while being only a short drive from Acadia, Bar Harbor, and other nearby sights.

Decent lake house
Decent place. Will make sure to check whether or not future places have air conditioning as this one does not. Photos are a bit enhanced. Had to wash the sheets and pillowcases as it didn't seem these were clean upon arrival. Pillowcases have stains. Towels didn't smell clean. It was raining when we arrived which made the house very humid. Feet stuck to the floors, dishes stuck to the table probably due to years of using Murphy's Oil to clean with. Furniture is old and from the 80's, rips on leather furniture do not appear in the photos. You can tell the place probably sits closed up all winter. TV's are from the 80's. Curly black hairs on the floor in the bathroom. Doors close on their own upstairs, most likely from the airflow from the windows, but was creepy having doors slam shut when nobody was upstairs and in the middle of the night. Owner's clothes hanging in the closets. Overall, the location is great, we enjoyed the dock, kayak, fishing, and canoe but almost left after the first night. Probably a nice place for those used to staying at rustic lake houses in Maine. We are used to nicer accommodations for the rates paid for this one.
The location was wonderful although a little hard to find. Communication with the owner was great. The lake is beautiful. The problem we had was that the second bedroom upstairs had nothing in it but a bed. No tables, no place to put clothes or suitcases. The closets had owners things in them so we couldn't use them. The icemaker didn't work so we had to but ice. The floor in the downstairs bathroom was quite dirty
Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again - on the quiet side of the island which is a fantastic place to be in July or August. Swimming is only steps from the house, we saw bald eagles flying by multiple times. House is large and spacious, airy- wonderful bathroom upstairs and wonderful views from Master bedroom. Perfect place for 2 people or 2 families.
Perfect location on the water.
Quiet residential drive.
15 minutes from Bar Harbor
Property manager was excellent and very accommodating and quick to respond.
