Updated island duplex (Side A only). Our home is just off Gulf Dr and walkable to the beach (3 blocks), Holmes Beach city center (3 blocks) and the free island trolley (1 block). Anna Maria Island is roughly 7 miles long and crazily enough divided into 3 cities: Bradenton Beach, Holmes Beach & Anna Maria; Holmes Beach is central.
Our home includes 2 bedrooms (queen beds), 2 full baths, a living room, stocked kitchen & outdoor patio w/ pergola, seating & a propane BBQ. This unit doesn't have access to the pool on side B. This unit shares walls with Unit B so if you're noise sensitive this unit is probably not a good match for you.
Both unit A & B can be rented together if both calendars are open.
GENERAL ISLAND INFO:
The island is golf cart & bike friendly so you might want to consider renting or bringing one. If not then consider the island trolley which is 100% free and runs the length of the island from Anna Maria’s City Pier to Bradenton Beach’s Coquina Beach. You can track the trolley via an app. Additionally, The Monkey Bus is available by phone and moves people around the island for tips only.
The island is 7 miles long but separated into 3 small cities.
At the north end of the island is Anna Maria City with two piers (the City Pier & the Rod and Reel). Each pier offers food and drink, and both allow day and night fishing. Plus, at times you can spot dolphins, starfish, sand dollars and other sea creatures there. Across from City Pier there are restaurants and shops that run along Pine Street. Also, one of the cheaper ice cream shops, Two Scoops, is located there along with the Donut Experience where you get to pick your own donut toppings.
The central part of the island is Holmes Beach and where our home is located. Beach access is available at most streets and is entirely public. Holmes Beach has a dog & skate park near the police department; tennis & basketball courts behind the public field/library near 62nd St.; and restaurants, an ice cream shop, bars & shops all within five minutes (north) of our home. One of these shops has about 15 cages of exotic birds that are brought outside during the day, and has been of much entertainment to my son and I. Also, the public beach area with food & drink, volleyball, a playground, changing rooms and bathrooms is just off 42nd/43rd roughly 10 blocks away.
The south part of the island is Bradenton Beach. In this area the island gets very thin. Here you will find the Bridge Street area which includes restaurants, shops, bars, The Fish Hole putt-putt course, and The Bridge Street Pier.
Further south you will Coquina Beach and hiking trails.
