My wife and I had a great, relaxing stay! Spent a lot of time on the deck watching the seals fish in the bay most evenings. It was also an easy drive to hiking in Acadia. The house was very well kept and had all the amenities we needed. We highly recommend it and look forward to coming back!
Wonderfully appointed home with a view that takes ones breath away! We had a wonderful stay, and did day trips to the surrounding attractions. My friends from college were with us, and a mutual friend from Mass, so it was a catch-up trip, as well as an unwind and explore adventure. Thanks, Jennifer, for your hospitality and for sharing your little piece of paradise.
The views are outstanding from this home and the home owner was easy to work with. She contacted us to make sure we did not need anything and was friendly. The cleaning crew even left flowers for our arrival. Bring your binoculars to watch the seals each day. Take a short walk to marina to enjoy the views there too. Acadia is an hour away but worth it to stay in a quiet safe neighborhood with these wonder views. The home is clean and well stocked. Would recommend it 100%
We just spent the last week at The Beachwalk and literally can’t wait to go back! The house has everything that you need (and more!), is very clean, bright, airy - the list goes on. My husband, two children (4&5) and dog thoroughly enjoyed our visit! Although it is a little bit of a trek from Acadia (where we spent most of our days), it was nice to be able to come home to such a serene surrounding. The sunsets off the deck and on the local beaches were amazing. Jennifer was a great host. Thank you again!
The view alone is 10 stars! My husband and I and my two adult children and our dog stayed here in mid September. We loved it! The beginning of the week was warm and we swam in the water in front of the house. We saw seals in the distance every day and the Lobstermen came every few days to check thier traps. There is a humming bird feeder hanging off the deck and I would sit in the morning on the deck and watch them while drinking my coffee. Amazing! Later in the week it got cool and we had a cozy fire in the wood burning stove each night. The beds were so comfortable, we all slept incredibly well. It is about an hour's drive from Bar Harbor as an fyi. We loved staying here!
The location of this property is everything. First, you couldn’t ask for more beautiful views. Watch the Lobster boats check pots from the deck! Second, it’s a great starting off point for everything you want to do. We went to Bar Harbor, Acadia, Stonington, Bangor, and Bass Harbor during our stay. All were a beautiful drive and it was such a treat to come home to our quiet and serene house each evening. We absolutely loved it here.
What a special place! It is so quiet and has fantastic views! The house has everything you need to sit back, sip, cook a seafood meal and enjoy the view & area. The deck has plenty of seating as well as the inside too. The kitchen has every pot/pan, utensil you could need to cook a meal. The bed was very comfy & there were plenty of towels & hot water. Thank you Jennifer for offering your home to us!
Everything about this home worked well for our family of four adults. We drove to Acadia everyday for 50 minutes. Loved looking out at the bay every morning and was lucky enough to see porpoises one morning. The only complaint I would have is there is no dishwasher; however, we did not make any dinner meals so it wasn’t that big of an issue for us.
After a two year absence from our favorite state, we made it back to Maine and savored a much-needed respite at Beachwalk. This property is lovely with all of the right touches for a great relaxing stay—clean and comfortable, beautiful views, well-stocked kitchen, bookshelves and games, and access to many of our favorite spots. The only downside—we only stayed for a week. We loved it and can’t wait to return!
We had a fantastic time at Jennifer's gorgeous home. It was a perfect launching pad for doing everything and nothing at all; we were able to bike, hike, kayak, and/or swim each day - and we were also able to spend hours relaxing on the huge deck, reading books and enjoying meals prepared on the gas grill. The kitchen is fully stocked with every tool or pan you could possibly need, and we appreciated the many comfortable seating/sleeping options throughout the house. Sorrento provided exactly the kind of quiet, peaceful atmosphere we were looking for, and we enjoyed walking the town roads each morning/evening. We hope to return sometime soon!
My family and I stayed for 10 days in this wonderful home right by the ocean. The location was perfect as it was close enough to Ellsworth and Bar Harbor, but it also felt secluded and private. The rooms were spacious and the living/kitchen space was huge! We walked around the neighborhood every morning and watched the sun set almost every night. Jennifer was super communicative with me and even assured me that they had all the pots and pans for cooking lobster and making cupcakes for our son's birthday. Although we never met her in person, she made us feel very comfortable staying in her home. The only thing I would mention is that there was a little confusion around which shore/beach we were allowed to use. (It's not the one you can visibly see from the deck. So definitely check with Jennifer on this.) But other than that we had an amazing stay and highly recommend this place to others looking for a real Maine getaway. It was absolutely perfect for us! Thanks again Jennifer!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Beachwalk. It is a wonderful cottage in a fantastic location. We were able to walk the beach area during low tide – collecting shells, rocks and sea glass. It was so peaceful in the evenings to relax and watch the sunsets. There are 3 sliding glass doors with awesome views of the harbor. The two upstairs bedrooms also have views of the harbor. The beds were all very comfortable. Upstairs there is a king in the master and a queen & twin in the other bedroom. The downstairs bedroom has a queen with a large closet. There are lots of books available to read and an extensive variety of games. We took advantage of the central location to take day trips to the Schoonic area, Bar Harbor and Acadia National Bank, Bangor and Bucksport, each night coming home to the peace and quiet of Sorrento. We didn’t get to hike any trails, but did take a couple of walks around Sorrento, which has many wonderful homes. We highly recommend Beachwalk for the perfect Maine getaway.
Beachwalk is a lovely, relaxing, welcoming, comfortable house.
It was a perfect place to watch the seals play and the eagles fly near shore.
Sorrento is BEAUTIFUL! We walked Beach Road everyday.
We had a wonderful week away!
Thank you, Jennifer for sharing your home!
We had a wonderful week in Sorrento, it was the perfect quiet location. Yet close to Acadia National Park. The house had everything we needed and made us feel at home.
If you are looking for quiet, this is the place. On our first day, we heard the sounds of loons, as well as hummingbirds. The view was inspiring. On occasion, you may see a boat. It is the perfect place to decompress. The sunsets were out of this world. Pending on time of year, you may want to pack some bug spray, if you want to spend time on the beautiful deck. Master bed was very comfortable. No need to leave the cottage, as it was comfortable enough and clean but if you are looking to go into a bigger town, Ellsworth is only 30 minutes from cottage. Bar Harbor/Acadia Nat'l Park about 45 to 60 minutes. We were very fortunate, as we had the perfect weather the first week in June. Not too hot/not too cool. We would love to return someday and would definitely recommend this cottage.

Perfect "home away from home" at the ocean in quiet, bayside town.
All four of us enjoyed our week at Beachwalk Cottage in Sorrento, Maine. The cottage was clean and comfortable for two couples with a bedroom and bath downstairs as well as upstairs. The kitchen was fully stocked with anything you could need to prepare meals. The deck overlooking Frenchman's Bay was picturesque any time of day. We especially enjoyed watching the fishing boats arriving to check their traps every day! It was a pleasure to walk around the neighborhood and seeing all the beautiful, unique cottages with their interesting architecture. It was so quiet and peaceful every day. The location was a reasonable drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park so we could see and experience all of the attractions on our short list and come back "home" to prepare dinner and relax out on the deck and watch the sun set. We enjoyed getting up in the morning and having coffee and enjoying the view either from the living room or out on the
deck. We enjoyed ourselves the entire week and would definitely come back again!

Maine Miracle
Beachwalk was exactly what we needed and more than we expected. It would be hard to pick a favorite thing about our stay because we loved so much. We were a group of 4 active adults and dog and the location gave us everything we needed, along with more stunning beauty than we could imagine. The pictures are completely accurate--the house is spacious and the view is amazing. Each morning we each did our own thing in lovely Sorrento--biking, running, walking-then moved on to our exploration. Acadia was close enough to be convenient, but far enough to be away from the loads of visitors. We kayaked, walked, read books staring out at the view.
We ate all of our dinners in and can honestly say there wasn't a single thing we could have asked for in the kitchen as every need is provided for. The rest of the house was well stocked, with a particularly interesting selection of books.
The owners were incredibly responsive to my (many) questions, going so far as to recommend a couple of area potters to visit. The residents of Sorrento were some of the most friendly people we have ever met. We could not have asked for more and will be back.

Heaven on earth
There are no words to describe our experience at beachwalk. The owners have made sure that our every need has been. The only thing we have had to go out for was food and rum!! The landscaping is lovely, the cottage is exquisite and furnished with everything from band aids to a hammock on the deck. Thank you Jennifer for a most wonderful experience

Seniors Paradise
Two senior couples, lifelong friends, spent a relaxing, food and wine friendly week in the most beautiful place you can imagine. The cottage is beautiful, well maintained and well equipped, but the big draw is the location and scenery. All the photos on the web page are completely accurate, but really don't do justice to the peaceful solitude the location offers. Couldn't have been better for some older folks who just wanted to relax and see the sights, but riding the motorcycle to some great scenic spots was fun as well. Wish it weren't so far away for us.

peace on earth
If you want to experience breathtaking beautiful sunset, hot cups of coffee in the morning watching the lobster men pulling up their traps and even a pod of porpoise swimming by then this is the place for you! This cottage is warm, comfortable, peaceful and very friendly! This cottage is the only thing getting me through this cold snowy winter . YES we are going back!
The bedroom are big and the beds are very comfortable. The living room has many chairs to watch TV or read a book but the view is to die for! We cooked many meals and found everything we needed to achieve this. And Bar Harbor is a short ride away.

Wonderful Wonderful Home!!
What a house/home! Spent a week there in 2013 and am returning for vacation in 2014. You can't find a better view--expansive and right from the living room and deck. We were able to watch dolphins!! The house is appointed very well and very comfortably. The landlords--the best! Thank you so much for being pet friendly. Can't wait for June/July 2014.

What a view!
We recently returned from our week in Sorrento. What a fabulous place! We could have spent our entire time sitting in the hammock enjoying the view - if our two small boys would have allowed it! We truly enjoyed the peace and quiet that the early season in Sorrento provided. It is a very special place.

A wonderful house
We stayed in Beachwalk in September 2011 and we would love to come back next year. It is a wonderful house in a lovely town. Everything was supplied and in good condition. The owner asked me to tell her if anything was missing. Absolutely nothing! Very comfortable beds, lots of towels, a well equipped kitchen and a beautiful view with incredible sunsets. I would certainly recommend this property to my family and friends.

About the host
Your host
My sister, Wende and I spent all our summers in Sorrento. Our children and now our grandchildren are enjoying the same magic. It is a great place for family activities. It is a peaceful and quiet place. Lots of activities for young and old with beautiful sunsets and access to the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor (50 minutes) or the quaint and growing amenities of Ellsworth (20 min)
Why they chose this property
Our families have been summering here since the 1950's. We would not want to be anywhere else! There is shopping or dining in Sorrento. Its a small village where its easy to walk the roads.
What makes this property unique
Being able to walk to all activities, except golf, is fabulous. For an additional fee through the Village Improvement Association the wonderful Camp Sorrento entertains and teaches kids while adults play tennis, golf or go for a sail. Just a stone's throw away from the house is a beach where you can hunt for crabs or starfish. The deck faces west for spectacular sunsets.
