Great property and conveniently located… The walk to the hill is about 7.2 mins and it is ski-in. All amenities are well provided and the owner is very responsive.
We had a great stay at this property. It was very clean and well appointed. The kitchen had everything we needed and there was lots of space for the 8 of us. Richard was very helpful and easy to communicate with.
We couldn’t be happier with our stay at this cabin! We were two families of 4 and the sleeping options and multitude of bathrooms were terrific! The cabin is extremely well stocked with good quality amenities. The entire place was spotless and the hot tub was amazing! The owners were incredibly conscientious making sure that our stay was worry-free. We will definitely be staying here again when we come back to the Fernie area!
Richard was an excellent host and very reliable. We were able to contact him and he always responded. House was great for our family and our little 1 1/2 year old grandson..
Had to rewash the glasses and dishes we used by hand as they were put away with small chunks of food attached - the rest of the place was clean just the dishes were dirty - need to do a better job checking these things
Overall great stay! Easy ski in, and about a 10-15 mins walk to timber chair. Hot tub was amazing after a day of skiing! Beds were comfortable. Richard responded quickly to emails.
Although the weather didn’t cooperate for the entire stay the place was amazing and very comfortable for a group of 7 friends. We found everything we needed in the kitchen to cook for a large group and the bed arrangements worked very well.
Appreciated the easy check in and all the amenities the place had to offer.
Great location and good communication with the owner. Other than crapppy ski weather (obviously out of their control) we had a blast. The hot tub was very nice after a day on the slopes.
This place was an excellent property for our family and friends. Great location and easy access to skiing. The owners were accesible and helpful. We will be back!
Great condo. Just as advertised. Well appointed. Great location. Hot tub was not clean when we checked in but that was quickly resolved. Lots of room for everyone so never felt crowded even with 4 adults and 3 teenagers. Would gladly stay here again!
The place is just as advertised and very comfortable. Just enough entertainment in the house and in a great location. If I could give the location a 4.5 star I would, only as a piece of advice if you have small children... bring a sled! The hike up to the lift is a little far for tiny legs (our kids were 3 and 5) the walk would have drained most of their skiing energy. It was fine for the adults.
Great stay at Richards property, a perfect spot for two families of four. Very comfortable and clean. Location was good, definitely a ski in but not a ski out. A good 8 minute walk from the property to the lifts so we would drive up our skis and then walk in from there making it easier for the kids.
We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this property. The listing was very accurate and the house was well stocked.
We were able to walk to several restaurants and one night got delivery from a pizza place in Fernie. The location was great for us and we were able to ski right up to the house.
Thanks for sharing your home with us!

About the host
Hosted by Richard and Sue
We (Sue and Richard) hail from Southwestern Ontario and Trinidad respectively, and currently make Toronto our home. Our blended family of four children, all in their twenties, are now leaving the nest one by one. We are an eclectic group of avid skiers/snowboarders, swimmers, scuba divers, hikers, sailors, musicians, food and wine lovers!
Why they chose this property
We vacationed in Fernie in 2000, and fell in love with the hometown feel and friendliness of this small and historic mining community which offered the best powder skiing in Canada. Polar Peak is a magical place for us, nestled amongst the pines and firs at the Fernie Alpine Resort. By day it is a great base for the many activities offered in Fernie and the Elk Valley. By night it is engulfed by a wondrous canopy of stars so bright that you realize that the universe has taken extra special care to create this unique and unspoiled mecca. It is a place to re-balance, to pursue the joy of life (and its real priorities!), and enjoy family and friends.
Our favourite outings – apart from fabulous skiing (Oh... what powder!!!), hiking the Lost Boys Pass along the ridge to Polar Peaks or the trails around Island Lake Lodge, and thereafter enjoying a BBQ with friends. Farther afield, hiking Glacier and Waterton National Parks.
