House on the Atlantic coast with stunning views

The house is very spacious and modern and right on the coast. The beach opposite the house is rocky with rock pools and nearby is a popular swimming area with steps to jump or dive off. Liscannor itself is OK and Ennistymon is a pleasant town. Brendan and Miriam who look after the house are lovely people and very helpful with the technical aspects of the house! The views out to the Atlantic are fantastic. The whole area is not dog friendly so if you go with your dog expect to keep him on a lead all the time. Some of the local walks and beaches are off limits for dogs even on leads. We loved the Burren and booked a guided walk which was superb. Also liked visiting the Burren Perfumery. Dromore Woods is a lovely nature reserve with ancient woodlands, a ruined castle and a Lough.

Lovely home with fantastic views

My family spent the holidays together in this lovely home with fantastic views of the Atlantic. The hosts were very gracious and responded immediately to any questions. I hope we will have the opportunity to go back again for another family vacation.

Absolutely Beautiful!

The Clahane Lodge is a absolutely beautiful! The views of the Ocean, fantastic. We had 3 couples staying here. We all enjoyed our stay. Maeve and Brendan are both amazing! My husband and I, as well as the other 2 couples are very immaculate and particular. All of us with beautiful homes. This house exceeded our expectations. Ireland is amazing! It is our second visit to Ireland, (my husband and myself), First visit for the other 2 couples. We loved it! There were actually 6 couples traveling total. The other 3 rented a home about 5 minutes from us. Thank you so much!

Highly recommend staying at Clahane Lodge

We just returned from staying at Clahane Lodge a couple of weeks ago and I would definitely return given the chance. This house is absolutely beautiful with every amenity that you could want. The location is ideal; on a quiet road with the Atlantic Ocean in your front yard and a beautiful view. A supermarket is less than 15 minutes away and many restaurants within 10-15 minutes drive. Cliffs of Moher was less than 15 minutes. Even if you go no where else, our family enjoyed walking on the rocky coast in front of the house and collecting shells and rocks. Our family included my husband and I along with our four teenage children and my husbands mother. There was plenty of room for the seven of us in this spacious house. Brendan was extremely friendly and helpful. Along with the cliffs we enjoyed taking a boat trip from Doolin (about 15-20 drive) to the Aran Islands, learning to surf in Lahinch (12 minute drive), visiting the Burren, visited the city of Galway (90 minutes away), and Bunratty Castle (40 minute drive). If we should ever return to IrelandI would definitely love to return to Clahane Lodge.Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us!

Spectacular house ! Well beyond the expectations !

An impressive and spectacular house , well beyond our expectations ( of me and my husband ) ! Location , location and location....the house is just on and along the coast, in front of the sea and the rocks, with the Cliffs of Moher at the horizon . In every moment of the day and the night you will " feel " the sea and its sounds , specially at high tide or when the sea gets wild ( it happens often !). And what an awesome view - and unforgettable sunsets - from the house , from its luxurious and so pleasant living room ,or from the equally luxurious master bedroom and bathroom, or from the kitchen and dining room . But it's not only location and views . Clahane Lodge is unique in itself ,in its luxurious structure and interior design , in its unique features and details ( with top technology applied in its facilities), in its unique atmosphere . You feel you are in Ireland , but you could equally be in the States , along the coast of Maine ! Just a couple of miles from the Cliffs of Moher coastal walk ( avoiding the overcrowded visitor centre ), and so near to all the other attractions of the area ( the Burren are indeed spectacular !) , to its pubs and restaurants . Among the villages , Ballyvaughan was perhaps the one we enjoyed more ( also Doolin,of course !), and it's less than half an hour drive from the house. The "customer service " by Brendan was unique, he really made you feel at home , with his kindness , his warmth , his smile. Summing up , if you love the sea and Co.Clare , if you want to feel at home , if you want to stay in a luxurious and unusual setting , Clahan Lodge is your place ! Thanks Maeve and Brendan , we will definitely come back. Laura

Wonderful

Our family spent the last week of August here. We had a great time. The home was clean and well equipped. There was enough room, so we could all have some private space. The ocean view was awesome. I would recommend this property 100% Thanks Maeve for sharing your beautiful home

Beautiful home with spectacular views.

My husband and I spent a wonderful week Clahane Lodge. It is everything that we had expected it to be and more. Many many beautiful locations are within easy traveling distance from the lodge including the Cliffs of Moher which are less than 2 miles away. If you are Catholic or just want a moving experience be sure to visit Saint Bridget's well which is less than a mile from the house. The village of Lahinch itself is quaint with absolutely wonderful people. Lahinch golf course is a stone's throw away. Many of golf greatest have played there. The house served us and two other couples without any problems. It was clean, plenty of hot water, well equipped kitchen and the pictures on the web site do not do the house justice. It is so much more beautiful. Brendan is owner and caretaker of the property. He is a delight. Very helpful with sightseeing ideas. Checked in on us three times but did not "hover". He was available to us via his cell phone any time we needed to call (which was for destination advice, never a house problem ). Our "next door neighbor" is a delightful man who owns Gus O'Connors Pub in Doolin. This is a must "visit". The atmosphere is what is expected of an Irish Pub with great food, live Irish music and a hard working staff. I would HIGHLY recommend this home to anyone visiting Ireland who wants a typical Irish experience.

Palatial home in a wonderful location.

Clahane is spatious, beautifully fitted and has all the home comforts a family could wish for. The house and location certainly contributed to a wonderful week and we left with fond memories. Natural light streams in through floor to ceiling windows while comfortable outdoor seating all ensure there's ample opportunity to enjoy the sea view and the glorious sun-sets. Infact the only danger is that you won't want to leave the house during your stay to see the wonderful sites of County Clare.

Has the Wow factor

" We stayed in Clahane Lodge last week and we were blessed with good weather which made the stay very enjoyable but I must say that even if the weather was not kind, this house is a perfect retreat, well appointed and in a superb location. The views are outstanding from the spacious living room and with the benefit of the large windows, you could observe the changing light scenarios and the different moods of the Atlantic. The design of the house was very well thought out and has everything that one needs for a nice break. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the house has a modern sound system which really adds to the enjoyment. We will be back - If we can find any vacant weeks!

Luxury and location

We had a wonderful stay in this great house at the coast near the Cliffs of Moher. The owners have done a great job with this house leaving very little to be desired. There is plenty space in and outside the house and the the interior is of high standard. Also the warm welcome and good bye of the very helpful Brendan, who left us alone otherwise was greatly appreciated. The location is also good to do trips from (Cliffs, The Burren, Doolin, etc.) making thanks to its location every trip no matter how long or short interesting from start to finish. Also the restaurants and other advise received was all very good so did not require a lot of research to know where to best go. A bit of a longer drive but very worthwhile is also a visit to beautiful Connemara, all together providing a great variety of beautiful Ireland and the friendly hospitality of the people all around who almost without fail share a great sense of humor.

Christmas at Clahane Lodge

My family and I had an amazing Christmas stay at Clahane Lodge. The house is beautifully decorated and the rooms all have en-suite bathrooms. The main bedroom is absolutely stunning. The house has everything that you would need whether it be for a short or long stay. The view is breath taking and the ocean and rock pools are right in front of the house. We visited the Cliffs of Moher and the Doolin caves - which are not far from the house. Brendan was the perfect house manager, being incredibly friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend Clahane Lodge as a fantastic getaway!

Baltimore

We had the most wonderful stay at the Clahane Lodge. The house overlooks the sea and the view is breathtaking. It is beautifully decorated and was the perfect spot for our wedding! The owner was extremely helpful in providing us with a wedding planner and other fun things to do near by. We could not have had a better time.

Incredible views, truly 5 Star accomodation

We had a great week at Clahane Lodge. Our stay spanned generations: newborn baby and elderly grandmother. This beautiful home in County Clare was comfortable for all of us. The decor and amenities are top-notch. The views of the atlantic and Clare hills are fantastic. Our little ones especially enjoyed the sand pit in the contained yard. We were able to relax and enjoy catching up with relatives. Liscannor is a great little village. Egan's pub was a favorite as was Vaughns restaurant. I would highly recommend for groups looking to get away, relax and enjoy catching up.

Amazing! Perfect location and house to enjoy Ireland

One of the nicest houses I have ever rented for a vacation. Everything is perfect. Waking up to the ocean every morning can't be beat. Our kids loved climbing around the rocks and search the tiding pools for shrimp, crabs and other sea creatures. Brendan is awesome and will help you with whatever is needed. The pictures are great but when you get to the house it will exceed your expectations. If 6 stars existed I would give it 6 stars.

wonderful house in perfect surroundings

I stayed at Clahane house with my husband and three children for a week in February. We were joined by family members (grandparents, aunt and uncle) during our stay. As irish natives , now living in the USA we knew the area well and wanted a large well equipped house in a good location for sight seeing - Clahane house did not disappoint. It was large enough to hold our family reunion with a large well equipped kitchen, a large dining table to host great family gatherings, the children loved the kids room and wonderful evenings were spent in the spacious living area. The bedrooms blew us away - and each had its own bathroom. The house is perfectly located for visiting the cliffs of Moher, the Burren , Limerick and Galway. The owner provides a welcome pack with recommended sights and restaurants before the visit- we visited all the sights and quite a few of the restaurants (Vaughans in Liscannor is exceptional) - everything was wonderful. We must also thank Brendan for being so flexible in letting us check in early and out late and being so accommodating throughout our visit. The children loved the rock pools right across the road from the house and the views are absolutely spectacular. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this house to friends .

perfect house leading to a perfect Holday

This review has been long in coming due to our oversight . Our experience with this home was nothing short of perfect. All the steps leading up to our arrival were handled professionally and promptly. All transactions were handled without stress. The pictures did not even come close to capturing the actual quality and beauty of this home. Every room had so many unique touches that called this" house a home". No expense was spared in this home from the kitchen, to the house surround sound and media system, to the lavish master bathroom suite. The owner's brother- Brendan greeted us at the home and made sure that everything was as it should be. He even was able to get a repair on the satellite dish in one day when the salt air and wind knocked it down. The location was very off the beaten path but it was this location that made this home perfect. The Cliffs of Moher were visible in the distance along with a spectacular ocean view. The sound of the waves lulled us to sleep every night. My husband and 2 teenaged son golfed on a great course in Liscannor. Doolin was a quick scenic ride away as were many other sights. Vaughan's (sp?) was a pleasure for dinner as were several other nearby restaurants. All in al,l this home made our holiday to Ireland perfect!

Lovely Property in Superb Location

We were a mixed family group with grandparents, parents, kids and 2 dogs. Even when the weather was poorer the kids didn't complain as there was enough entertainment for them. It was great having all three generations together. The location was remote enough to enjoy superb ocean views yet close enough to many local attractions. I would agree with everything the previous reviewers have said about the house and it's location. Brendan and his wife were charming. The house itself was ideal for an extended-family holiday. Even the dogs had a fantastic time!

More than a dream!

The last week (24/4/2011 - 1/5/2011) I had a trip to Ireland with a group of photographers. I found this house on "home away" and booked it because of the pictures and the nice feedback of the others. This house should be "a dream", so the other families. No, it is not. It is SO much better! It is not a dream, it is reality! This house fulfills all wishes. It is large, it is friendly, it is really comfortable, everything you need exists! From the high quality TVs, players, radios up to every single little thing in the kitchen. We arrived at the house, very curiously how it will be there - and then we did half an hour only AAAAAHHHH oOOOOOOOH WOOOOW!!!....we had a great time and felt comfortable every minute. The whole house is "automated", there are switches and remotes for nearly everything. My friend and I, we had the room you can see on picture 3 and 5. I felt like a princess - never lived in such luxury! There is place for ten people without a problem. The big room above, under the roof has a big double bed, next to it a little room with one bed, downstairs are two large rooms with double beds and one room with three beds in it. That will be more for younger people but in our group there slept three men in this room and they had much fun! And the view! You look over the sea, in the evening the sun comes through the windows and you can just sit on the couch and watch the sunset. Amazing. The big table is designed for 8 people (8 chairs) but you can take another chair or two. The house is clean, well organized, Maeve, the house-owner is SO friendly! The contact is very uncomplicated and the price you pay for a week is absolutely fair! Brendan, the housekeeper meets you at the house and explains everything. He also is very kind and you feel good and welcome just in the moment you meet him. We didn't want to leave! But not one of our thinkings about "taking the house with us and nobody will notice it" or "locking all doors and be quiet so that everybody thinks, nobody is inside" promised to be a good idea... We really enjoyed it!

Wonderful time in Clahane Lodge

We had a wonderful stay in Clahane Lodge, the house is beautiful and the location breathtaking, it was such a delight to wake up to the view of the sea every morning and the view can be enjoyed whilst sitting in the lounge or at the dining table or even from over the hob whilst cooking breakfast in the kitchen! Such great care and attention to detail has gone into decorating this house, making it a wonderful place to relax and spend time in, we so enjoyed every minute of our stay. Would highly recommend this house and would love to visit again. A real gem on the coast of Co Clare.

What an experience...!

A magnificent house, luxury all over and views that must be the best of Ireland; the pictures on the website don't even show half of the real experience. A five-bedroom house that is perfectly comfortable and pleasant for even a five-person family. Ancient sites, mountainwalks, beaches, pubs, restaurants, golfcourses all in close range and of great quality. Sure we can fully recommend this house for a perfect stay. And thanks to Brendan for his help....

A wonderful week in a spectacular house

For us, this home had it all; great views and location, luxury but still with a homely feel, and room enough for the 11 of us! The home can't be faulted - it's fantastic, but not sure I want to spread the word in case we can't secure a week for next year!

All We Expected and Then Some!

The pictures of this home, as lovely as they are, don't capture just how beautiful it is. It is spacious, beautifully furnished and has everything you would want in a home. The kitchen is amazing. The view from the home is spectacular, and the location is great for seeing the Cliffs, Doolin and the Burren. The location is also a good home base for some longer day trips. We went as far as Dingle, Westport, and Cashel and back in a day. But we also we're very happy making ourselves at home in Liscannor. Finally, Brendan couldn't have been more helpful. We would recommend this home to anyone, and hope to come back ourselves one day. Sincerely, Nancy, Judy, Amy, Art and Elizabeth

An unbelievable getaway destination

We have just returned from a one week stay at this magnificent home and wish we could turn around and go back. Everything about this house, from its location on the wild and beautiful coast of Clare to the luxurious accommodations was extraordinary. This is no average rental. The house, recently remodeled, features exceptional detail and high-end appliances/comforts. Take a soak in the tub while gazing out at the crashing surf, enjoy a glass of wine while cooking with two convection ovens, friends chatting at the lovely kitchen island and bar, or sit by the deck while the integrated media system pipes your iPod tunes outside. Maeve and her brother Brendan are excellent hosts, responsive, professional and friendly. My only worry in writing this review is that more people will learn of it :-), but the truth will out and this house is a rare gem.
