This was a wonderful place to stay. It was the perfect location to all the places to see.
The cabin was comfortable and cozy; perfect for the size of my family. The location was spot on for all the things my family wanted to do. I would recommend this place and stay here again. Truly a wonderful place for the family!
We enjoyed our stay. The place was very spacious and was able to accommodate all of our family comfortably. The host was very responsive and we enjoyed hanging out outside on the patio.
My fiancé and I had a group of friends visiting so we took them to the black hills for a true South Dakota experience and the property gave that. Turkeys roamed the driveway each morning and got to see an elk in the pasture. Great place, clean and had everything we needed to grill and have a good time .
Cabin is in a great, central location, with access to National Forest, and great scenary and wildlife. There was plenty of space in the cabin for 6 adults and dogs. Owner was great to work with. We would stay there again.
We had 6 adults staying at the house for a week and it was perfect! Being from NC, the owner had to explain the lack of a/c, but leaving the windows open at night solved the issue. Horses are close by for viewing pleasure, cows, dogs, deer, and the ever-present bird that sang a beautiful song each morning!! Centrally located to all the scenic monuments and mountains!
Loved the location of this property. It Couldn’t have worked out better for what we was there to do which was to ride UTV’s. The property was cozy and clean. Nice porch to set out on to enjoy the cool evenings. Would definitely love to stay here again!
Beautiful place to stay. So quiet. Seen deer and turkeys in meadow in evening. Stars so pretty. Home is a older home but was very addiquit. Felt welcome. Great vacation get away
If you’re looking for fancy this isn’t it but if you want rustic then this is exactly what you will get. We had 4 teenage boys that wanted camping and parents wanted a kitchen, mattress and flushing toilets. This was a great compromise. Boys slept in hammock outside on warm highs and loved it. Adult had showers and a full kitchen for feeding hungry teenagers. A perfect match.
Showers don’t have that great of water pressure but it worked, rooms needed to be vacuumed and dusted. Has no AC so it was a little warm and sweaty at night but overall would stay again. Renter had great communication and replied almost immediately!! Nice place in the hills and quiet at night, utv trails all over!
Enjoyed the beautiful black hills and all it has to offer; was our first time attending the rally. The cabin was located in what I believe to be the perfect location, it is in the middle of most all the attractions. The place is an old family home now used as a retreat, the host was very friendly and attentive. The cabin is away from the main road and is very quiet and peaceful, it is a little out dated but the pictures do not lie . The place is clean and served it’s purpose for us, I have no complaints and would definitely stay again. My advice is to keep an open mind, remember that you are in the woods and enjoy the outdoors and all it has to offer. The place is clean and has everything you need; we were able to use the garage to shelter our bikes from the hailstorm. Thank you Don and Bev, we hope to be back soon….
This cabin is located on the edge of the Black Hills. We loved the beautiful location, and couldn’t get enough of sitting on the deck looking out at the forest. The cabin is large. We have a family of ten, and we fit very comfortably. The kids enjoyed the shelf of games, dvds, and Netflix for times we needed a break from sightseeing. We loved that the cabin had plenty of towels, sheets, and blankets, and the kitchen was stocked with dishes and everything needed to prepare meals. The washer and dryer worked well, and the beds were comfortable. It was about 30-60 min drive to the various nearby sites we wanted to see, like Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, and Custer Park. Within 10 min was a lovely beach and excellent Mexican restaurant.
The owner of this cabin was very communicative and answered every question in a timely manner. He genuinely cared about how our stay was going.
Overall, we had a wonderful visit and highly recommend this rental.

Liked: Communication, location
Disliked: Cleanliness, listing accuracy
Filthy - We left it cleaner than when we arrived.
Word of CAUTION: I could tell it was not a 5 star facility, but the location facilitated our Black Hills exploration perfectly. Upon arrival we were greeted by an overflowing garbage can. That was corrected & special toilet paper was dropped off the next day. As I had made these reservations, I found myself appologizing to my friends for the ripped, torn nasty stained broken furniture repeatedly. But the last day the owner wanted us to remove all bedding & towels & start the laundry for them (which I actually did). But then to top that off, while cleaning up at departure, we found a used syringe behind the couch. Needless to say, this is Not what you want to pay to experience. Disgusting
My family and I had a wonderful time at Dan's cabin! It was in great location, away from the busy but close enough to drive everywhere. Dan was great with communicating during our stay. Next time we are in the hills definitely will want to stay there again!

About the host
Hosted by Dan Prostrollo
This is a family owned property which my brother and sister and I inherited from our parents. The one thing that they really wanted was for the property to stay in the family and renting it out when we're not there was a way to make that happen. Most of the maintenance and upgrading is done by myself and I would greatly appreciate it if anything that needs to be attended to get reported back to me. Also, if there is any damage that needs attention please let me know on that as well.
Why they chose this property
This cabin isn't luxurious but it is comfortable. The location puts it in the center of the Black Hills which makes everything within a short drive. It's also next to the national forest giving ATVers instant access to the logging roads and trails. Whether your looking to sight see, ATV, hunt/fishing or just relax and enjoy the mountain air this place will satisfy your needs.
