About this property

Country Craftsman Cedar Retreat

Great place to get away from the city and get some peace and quiet, like having your own park and lodge for a few days or longer.
Please note: the base rate per night is based on 4 guests. Each additional guest over 4 is an additional $50/night. We do not allow parties/gatherings.

Lots of windows, a balcony and some really beautiful views are all at your beckon call. Lots of wildlife and open sky.

2.2 miles to Rainier OR, snacks and fuel, beer and wine, groceries, etc. Rainer has two marinas and a great place to launch a boat.

Travel to Kelso Wa across the river and grab the Amtrak Cascades to either Seattle or Portland or beyond
The space:
The Pacific Northwest is an amazing place. We like to spend time in the area for the peace of mind, fishing, breathtaking views, and fun people. This house was designed to feature the view and have the space to take a breath. With beautiful views from nearly every room and multiple deck and balcony vistas, you really can get lost here. Entire top floors boast close to 3500 sq FT inside space, deck, backyard with entertainment area, BBQ and picnic spots abounding.

We are very close to the Columbia River, Washington border, Mt. St. Helens, etc. The Amtrak stops in Kelso WA and will take you up and down the coast for exploring. We also can reference some great guides and resources if you wish.

What makes this spot truly amazing is the park-like setting, amazing views of wildlife, and being able to get out and enjoy a getaway that is about 55 min away from so many adventures.

We travel and work mobile and stay here off and on through the year, and like to have a place to have our family gatherings a few times a year. We do keep a small private office and storage in the downstairs basement, that level is off limits. We are here most of the time working in our garden, updating landscaping, and enjoying the orchard. The shop out back of the house are where we keep separate quarters. You will not be bothered, as we appreciate your experience and wish you the same enjoyment that we get every day.

Two spacious floors and lots of room to entertain. We do have stairs as the house is multi-level This works well for sharing space and also separate space from top floor and people sleeping, there are potential sleeping arrangements and bathrooms on each floor to assist.

Main floor has a small office in the front entry with a Pull-out couch and TV. The main floor is great for entertaining and is very open with hardwoods and tile. Large dining room with seating and a sun room with lots of windows leading to a small deck for an outdoor sunset.

Kitchen has traditional setup and convection oven, Dishwasher, new fridge, new range hood, etc. We stock the kitchen with equipment and utensils. Usually, we have some basic ingredients-cooking oil, rice and starches, seasonings, and such, but there is a good store close to the location. We can also arrange to make available some of the fresh garden items we produce here on the property if visiting in the summer. Let us know if you are interested!

BBQ setup outside and seating for picnic with large table. We offer some outdoor cooking opportunities during the season depending on interest and availability.

The top floor has 3 Queen bedrooms with a shared bath.
There is also a larger Master bedroom at the end of the hall with a queen bed and a private bath and small office area. ( 4 bedrooms total). All of the bedroom have smart tv's.
The Master and one Queen bedroom have an adjacent balcony area for outdoor view

The upstairs Studio area is set up with an extra large sectional couch with pullout sleeper, chairs, futon, and a TV/Sound system for media. It has a great view, is somewhat separate from the rest of the house-great for getting away from the rest of the group for a show or music. This studio area also has two cots and Cabelas sleeping rolls and Futon to accommodate additional sleeping arrangements. There is also a sleeper sofa and additional futon on the main floor for overflow.

We are big fans of taking memories and leaving footprints, sharing these views and the peace and quiet of this area. We are not set up for large or loud parties, as we do have some proximal neighbors and like to limit the impact to the property. For the right group, and from personal experience, this place is legendary.
Guest access
Entire Main Floors and top floors, backyard, patio and BBQ area. Plenty of parking out front.

We provide a wonderful space, your obligation is to return it without large changes or any cleanup needed outside of normal use. Our $75 cleaning fee reflects that however, we do reserve the right to add additional charges for additional cleaning outside of normal use.

Guest must remove shoes to reduce dirt and being mindful of cleanup, this will help make the exit easy.

We provide some basic items for cleaning as you go, any large messes please report promptly.

There is a local cleaning agency if you stay for longer periods that you can retain if you do not wish to clean prior to departure. We do have a professional cleaner come help with resets, She and her family have been our associates since day one.

It is truly a fantastic place to gather friends and family.
Other things to note
Weather in the area can run a little cooler due to the proximity of the Columbia river and the coast. Occasional misty rain even in summer in the morning is wonderful, and makes the air fresh.

Family Gathering

An amazing home to be with sisters and their spouses for our parents funeral. The home had great space, amazing kitchen and beautiful views. Each couple enjoyed a separate bedroom. A few of our adult children also stayed for a few days. There was plenty of room for family gatherings, playing games and eating together. Also, room to park the cars. The house is quite large with an excellent patio for outdoor gathering. The area is very private and quite peaceful. There is an RO unit to provide excellent drinking water. The host was very quick to respond to questions and needs. We would certainly stay here a again. One caution, with three levels, there are a lot of stairs to traverse.

Beautiful property. Disappointed to learn that the hot tub listed on the website was off limits to guests. Use of the hairdryer in the master bath caused breaker to trip causing loss pf power for upstairs each time it was used. The long list of "Donts" in the welcome package said we could not go downstairs where the breakers were, so we had to wait an hour or two for someone to restore the power. We had some kind of email glitch resulting in us not getting the information package on how to access property until late afternoon the day before arrival, after having to call VRBO. That said, the furnishings were very unique and interesting. The musical CD selection was great for those of us born before 1965. This was the first house I have ever been in with a framed picture of my old friend, Alfred E. Newman. The guitars were a nice touch and are both now tuned, although one guitar is missing the high E string. And yes, the spider in the box worked just as you would have hoped, causing a huge adrenaline spike to me, and delighting my two grandsons when they came to visit.

AMAZING PLACE!!!

As soon as we turned down into the very private driveway, even the kids said “WOW”. It’s beautiful inside and out, very private, very well set up and peaceful. The owner was responsive, helpful and kind. I’m looking forward to going back someday. Thank you!

Nonprofit Getaway

We're a board of directors for a small nonprofit and used this space for our board retreat. The house was in great condition when we arrived, had a perfect setup for what we needed, and was in a quiet area with lovely sunset views from the patio/sunroom. The host was very accommodating, helpful, and responsive - she even brought us fresh veggies from their garden for dinner! Definitely recommend, definitely would stay again.
