About this property

Hilltop Cabin Sunset Views @ The Farm on a Hill

Come for the view and relax in our rustic hilltop cabin! There are many bright stars at night here, and the sunsets are amazing. Our studio cabin overlooks the valley of the East Yegua Creek. The cabin includes a king bed, comfortable reclining sofa, kitchen, BBQ grill, and private bathroom. You can explore as much of our 30-acre property as you would like. We would be happy to give a garden tour or introduce you to some of our farm animals (chickens, ducks, cats and seasonal cows) at your request. There is a sport court with basketball and pickleball, playground, fishing in a small pond, hiking on wooded trails and exploring the garden. We are 45 minutes west of Bryan-College Station and Kyle Field, less than one hour north of Round Top and 90 minutes to Austin. We have a larger cottage option available on the same property for 4 guests if you'd like to check it out too - search for "hilltop cottage." A 10% discount is available for weekly stays.

Cozy Cabin with a View

It was a peaceful, and relaxing stay. Beautiful sunsets. It was clean, well-maintained, and had everything we needed. Lots of different wildlife. I would recommend The Farm on the Hill to anyone interested in a nice country getaway.

County Cottage

My wife and I like to stay out away from Bryan/College Station when attending TAMU football games to avoid the traffic and crowds. The Cottage is in a nice location in the country. Great views f4om the front porch. Super clean and a really comfortable bed. Also, the owners are a pleasure to deal with. We will be back next season.

Just right for me and my 7 year old grandson. Very clean, stocked with everything we did or would have needed. Very close to the main house but the property was very quiet. Certainly out in the country but overall excellent property.

Time on the Hill

It was a great stay, the cabin was really nice and cozy. Didn’t have a fire in the firepit (Temps) but sitting in the chairs and enjoying the area, moon and stars with wine and my lovely bride 👍

Peace and quiet!

Best part about this place is the view and peace that comes from being in the country. The cabin was immaculate, the bed was comfortable, and the owner provided excellent directions both to the cabin and for check out procedures (very minimal and easy to manage)!

My wife has family in Caldwell, so when we come for a visit, this has become our 1st choice of where we will stay.

The owners have always been very accommodating to our needs. The sunsets at the fire pit are to die for, and the farm animals give the place a real homey vibe! All that said, we know where we will stay next time we visit Caldwell.

Above our expectations!!

We came from Houston, TX and wanted to get away from the city for a little bit and this ñlace was just perfect. Super safe (gated property) and easy to get to (paved road for the most part). My wife and I had our 1 year old and our small dog with us and the cabin fit us perfectly. The place was super clean and had absolutely everything a small family needs. Stuff like: Kitchenware, Toilet paper, towels, coffee maker, microwave, dtove, fridge (with 1/2 dozen fresh eggs from their chickens),night tables on both sides with power outlets to charge your devices, a TV, clean sheets, board games and maganzines. I mean, TOP Notch!! Things I recommend bringing: Trash bags, OFF spray for bugs, personal care items, disposable pads for your pet, fishing rod, items to grill (coal, etc) they do have a small grill available. Anyways, I would definitely come back. The hosts are very helpful and they live next door so, easy to contact them.

Fantastic little retreat

We stayed here in April 2023, week before Easter. The property is fantastic with everything you could need for a nice country getaway. The hosts were very prompt with providing the details of how to access the property and the cottage, while also providing privacy during the stay. While it was a bit further out of town than i had expected, we quickly adjusted and brought all that we needed after each days adventures, so we could enjoy our evenings looking over the beautiful valley. There are some farm animals that roam near the cottage, which really brings home the country vibe. Although our last day was rainy all day, we slept in and enjoyed some farm fresh eggs our hosts had so generously provided. Definitely would recommend.

Perfect getaway

The Farm on a Hill was a great place to stay for a weekend of shopping at Round Top and Warrenton. It was about an hour drive, but the cabin was very cozy and worth the drive. If you’re looking for a remote getaway, this is it!

The Farm

The property is exactly as advertised and even better. Pond is much better than picture. Little close to owners house but you will not be disappointed! No roadsign for 362 but finding it is worth the effort. It is 3.7 miles from from Hwy 696 with last .7 being road to farm. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Peaceful serenity type of vibes with a retreat experience.

I have stayed here a few times now. The owner is kind and interactive. The property is immaculate and majestic in its raw state. Every time I’m there I see the hand of God, jus miracles and majesty all around through all his creations. This property honors life and nature and there is an overwhelming peace I feel when I’m there. Sunsets, starry nights, sunrises, birds chirping so many wonderful things to experience. It has been both a treat and retreat for me even though I’m there for work when I go. After a long day of work coming to this place is as close to home as it gets. It has made it easier for me to be away from family and loved ones when I stay here. The only thing that I consider a challenge is that I drive a car so if the weather is bad you should go in a truck or SUV. It stormed the other day and waters flooded many areas that are the path to get to the property and trees/tree branches were blocking the path. Regardless I was able to make it safely after finding ways around it. It is not the fault of the owner or property I’m just communicating this so people are prepared when they travel. My car can get up and down the hill to park as long as I stay on the gravel etc. Overall I love this place and have taken some beautiful pictures of this place. Finally the owners are just so welcoming. They set things up to make it a welcoming experience while respecting personal yet are open to take you on tours. Great people great place. Reasonable pricing too. Totally worth a trip and stay out there.

Quiet retreat on a beautiful property

Our stay was lovely! The cabin is beautiful and charming! The bathroom does get a bit humid during showers because there's no fan, but we opened the window and that helped. It was great to have local coffee available in the morning. I wish we could have stayed longer to check out all the activities. Overall a great property in a quiet and remote area, definitely recommend!

I wasn’t sure about the drive especially at night but it was worth driving in that darkness… because once I got near there was beautiful Christmas lighting on the property. I was there for work but felt like I was at a get away. I had option to not be disturbed w no Wi-Fi on or connect to Wi-Fi to get access to calls/work. It was so beautiful. I loved it and will be back. The scenery plant and animal life are just gorgeous and a true blessing. The only thing I didn’t like was there was a tres that I think was cut or fell down possibly cedar full of stuff on it and I am very allergic… so next time I go I’m taking Benadryl with me.

For us, when we vacation somewhere, we want a view. We wanted to purchase land with a view that felt like a vacation spot you never want to leave. Our home is centrally located between the Cabin and Cottage and shares the amazing view with guests!

Why they chose this property

Like for many, COVID changed our lives. The change showed us our daily activities whittled down to their simplest form, and we started spending more time together as a family. This was a positive change that we needed more than we knew. We still had the stresses that come with running businesses in the midst of COVID (even more stress in a lot of ways), but our family life simplified and solidified.

In the fall of 2020, we made the move to 30 acres with a small house on a hill with 3 cows that we knew nothing about. When we would vacation, we would always search for "a view." We wanted the place that we called home to have a view we never wanted to leave. We are blessed to call this place home. We are transforming it into our Farm on a Hill where we have built our dream home with an incredible sunset view. We are working to restore the soil using permaculture principles. We are life-long learners and hope to give back by sharing our view and welcoming you to our Farm.
