down time
We spent 5 nights here while our grandson was attending a conference at Georgetown University. The area around Surreybrooke Cabin is beautiful. The grounds are quiet and well kept. There is very little traffic on the road leading to the cabin. The cabin is in reasonable proximity to several Civil War Battlefields which is where we spent our time away from the cabin. The cabin itself is very unique! the ground level consists of a living room and the outside porch is comfortable. the lower level is the kitchen area. What can I say! This cabin was extremely well stocked! The cooking utensils were in great condition and of good quality. I would however recommend that the knives be sharpened. We ate breakfast (thanks for the home made scones, my favorite) and our evening meal in the well appointed kitchen. One evening we grilled steaks out on the patio, which had everything you needed to grill. The upper level consisted of a very large bedroom. The bedding was comfortable and there were lots of sitting options. The shower arrangements were the only area were we had difficulty. The clawfoot tub adds nostalgia to the accommodations but it was extremely difficult to get in and out of due to the height of the sides and nothing to grab hold of. Also, the shower curtain leaves a lot to be desired! I personally would forget the nostalgia and put in a shower stall.
On a final note, I would highly recommend Surreybrooke cabin and would certainly stay there again.
Thanks for a wonderful stay!
