Strawberry Creek Retreat: Refined A-Frame Cabin W/AC
Our cabin is the perfect pet-friendly getaway with new central air conditioning. The open A-Frame cabin is tucked away on a quiet street yet is just minutes away from the picturesque shops and restaurants in the center of town. Humber Park trailhead is within walking distance of the cabin providing easy access to the Ernie Maxwell and Devils Slide trails. Strawberry Creek runs through the back yard creating a peaceful atmosphere and a lovely sensory experience when the creek is running. The space Inside you will find high ceilings and windows that show off the beautiful scenery and create plenty of light. The downstairs features open architecture that A-frame cabins are known for and include a gas stove, chef’s kitchen, and wine fridge for making unforgettable meals. Our favorite spot in the cabin is a cozy reading nook that sits next to the wood-burning fireplace and looks out onto the creek. You’ll often see deer outside sipping from the creek or running through the snow.
The Outside offers a spacious fenced-in deck off the kitchen with a natural gas Weber BBQ, and a large table for entertaining and enjoying alfresco dining. The deck is the perfect spot to enjoy the scenery and the quiet of the surrounding woods with views of both the creek and the mountains in the distance.

This is the second time I’ve rented this cabin. It’s very comfortable and in a great location. Lots of deer sightings out the living room windows. We’ll definitely be back.
We spent Thanksgiving weekend with our three adult kids at the Strawberry Creek Retreat and loved it! The kitchen was well equipped, allowing us to make a Thanksgiving meal. The open living room/dining room was a wonderfully comfortable place to hang out. Two private bedrooms and the loft each have their own bathrooms, which worked out perfectly for all of us. Parking was easy, and it's a very short drive into town. Communication with our hosts was smooth, and they were responsive. Excellent cabin and owners, I highly recommend it!
We loved staying here. The view was amazing! The windows in the living room gave you front row seats to watching the deer go up and down the creek. The cabin was beautiful and spacious! It was also so close to the town. I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a cabin in Idyllwild.
I regret to say that this wasn't the premium property expected, especially based on the pictures. While Alex was quick to respond to our inquiries and booking, the high cost of the property didn't seem justified. Additionally, the recommended insurance added to the expenses was unreasonable. We were also surprised by the substantial cleaning fee, especially since we noticed several areas that needed attention. The checkout instructions were also disappointing. It felt unnecessary to pay a cleaning fee and still be required to do the cleaning ourselves before leaving. This included us having to strip the beds and loading the wash with the towels and bed linen. Also, there were some missing essentials like Ziploc bags, aluminum foil, napkins, salt, pepper, and extra towels in the cabinets and such. This lack of attention to detail was frustrating.
Although Alex mentioned letting him know if anything was missing for future guests, we couldn't help but feel overlooked. The beds were not very comfortable and they felt like hammocks with no support, so we had to sleep on the couch. When we informed Alex his reply was, "we've never had a complaint before."
The cleanliness of the property was also not up to our standards (see pics), which was the most disappointing aspect of our stay. The location was great as well as the view.
Great place and space. Only downside? Lots of dog hair. If you are going to charge $100 extra cleaning fee for those who have brought pets in the past, then there shouldn't be so much dog hair. Whoever cleans it might be taking your money without providing the extra cleaning for pets.
This location is beautiful and close to town. The host was so accommodating and responsive. He solved any issues we had and was really nice. The only bummer was the cleanliness. It sounds like it was an anomaly because it was a one time different cleaning crew. There were dishes in the dishwasher, bedding and towels in the dryer, dead bugs everywhere, and the door was filthy and made our feet black. Thankfully the host sent their normal cleaning lady and she mopped. But I had to put stuff away and wipe up bugs on vacation! But overall it was a great place and nice hosts.
Spider webs inside and outside. There were a disappointing amount of spider webs in and out of the property. Checkout Instructions were detailed. Strip the beds of all linens, wash all used towels, and take any extra trash to the dump 10 minutes away. We did not have extra garbage bags, the pantry did not include amenities such as coffee, ketchup, or syrup.
The outside was disappointing cared for. We could not use the hammock swings on the front porch due to an overwhelming amount of spiders. Had to sweep out the back patio and table to use the space.
The property seems to be only cleaned inside and the upper rafters were also full of spiders.
The property is as advertised but the outdoors is not kept up. All of the windows had several webs in each window sill.
We are aware of the rural location but the property was obviously not kept up when it comes to cleaning the webs in and out the house.
We stayed here over a weekend to spend time with family and to be close to Idyllwild Arts for a camp pick-up. The house was gorgeous and a great fit for our family. It was nice to be a quick drive into the village and up to Humber Park. The house location is wonderful with views of Suicide Rock and Tahquitz Rock from the front and the beautiful babbling Strawberry Creek in the back. Also, Alex was very responsive with a couple of minor issues we had.
This property was the perfect winter escape we were looking for. Excellent upgrades through the house and excellent views of the creek running behind the house. There was enough room in the back for a little sledding and there were some great areas to hike nearby. When heading back into the area we will definitely be looking for this listing again.
Loved the creek right behind the property. The house was clean and perfect for a family of four. Less than 5 minute drive to town. Beautiful property. Would absolutely recommend and stay there again.
Beautiful setting and very pretty cabin! It’s even better than the pictures. Everything seemed clean and well done. Perfect location with the back deck right over Strawberry Creek. Will stay again for sure!
The cabin was exactly as shown in the listing. We had tons of fun playing in the snow and exploring the town and hanging out in the great room. Because we were coming in and out from the snow, there did not seem to be enough tour mats and rugs for us to clean our feet on. Also, we felt the kitchen was severely under stocked. Pots and pans desperately need to be replaced, and basic items like a can opener were missing.
Our weekend getaway at the Strawberry Creek Retreat couldn't have been more perfect for our family with kids and a dog. Stepping into the cabin instantly exceeded my expectations. The open-concept design was great and was easy to keep an eye on all the kiddos. Plus the breathtaking snow and creek view was a great bonus. It was also a nice surprise that the two bedrooms and loft area, all had full size bathrooms. The hosts were amazing answering all our questions and making my family feel more than welcomed. Would definitely come again!
It was exactly what we were looking for and the listing was accurate and helpful. The loft was fun for the kids and the view out the back windows was as good as we were hoping it would be. We would stay here again.
We visited Idyllwild for a short family trip. The cabin was clean and nicely furnished. We enjoyed our stay.

We are from San Diego passionate about traveling, food, and our family. We love our Airbnb getaway in Idyllwild and visiting other locations of our Airbnb friends.
Why they chose this property
We bought this cabin a few years back because Idyllwild has always been a special place for us to get away, unwind, and enjoy the beautiful scenery. We purchased this specific cabin because we love the A-frame design and the cabin is situated in our favorite part of Idyllwild close to the trail heads and in a tree-covered area that stays cooler in the summers.
What makes this property unique
The cabin location makes it perfect to be able to walk to the Ernie Maxwell trailhead in about 15 minutes or take a short drive into town. Also, the neighborhood surrounding the cabin is beautiful and we often take our dog and kids for a walk around admiring all the great cabins and rocks that our kids love to climb. You can also have a lot of fun with kids directly behind the cabin with lots of great rocks and boulders to climb.
