About this property

Panoramic Views w/Hot Tub, Playground, Decks, Garage & More - Red Mountain Ranch

This gorgeous custom vacation home called Red Mountain Ranch is located on the Middle Fork of the South Platte River. There is gold medal fishing on the Middle Fork of the Platte River just a couple of miles from the home.

The home has 4 very large bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. The luxurious and special master suite has double doors that open into an equally magnificent master bath with an over sized jetted Jacuzzi tub. A second set of French doors open to the back patio and a third set of doors open to a sitting area with a gas fireplace, dinner table, and comfy sofa. This sitting area is separate from the main living area and also opens to the back patio. The state of the art kitchen has custom cabinets, a large island and a desk with satellite computer connections and so much more. It was just remodeled in June of 2019 with gorgeous marble counter tops and new paint throughout the home. The large living area has a big TV and comfy sofas to watch your favorite movie or to just sit and watch the snow. The views are some of the best in Colorado. You will have unobstructed view of the white-capped Continental Divide to the West and the Collegiate Peaks to the South. The home has beautiful new Oak hardwood flooring throughout.

The home is beautifully furnished with tasteful mountain decor. The home is nestled in spruce and pine groves. Nearby rock outcroppings add to the beauty of the setting. The 5 acre lot offers lots of room to explore. There is a children's area in the back with swings and slides. For the adults, there is a Wind River Hot tub. It is on the front deck where you will have fabulous mountain views of the Continental Divide. It is great for a long day after hiking or skiing.

The master bedroom has a king size bed. The second bedroom has a queen size bed with a bath next door. The third bedroom has a queen size bed with a private full size bath. The fourth bedroom has bunk beds with a queen on the bottom and a twin on the top. The bath is across the hall. There is also a half bath in the laundry room by the door to the hot tub.

The home is located in the new National Historical Park which is one of four in the nation. The rich history of the mining district and railroads provide an interesting setting to explore. South Park City is a recreation of the old mining days and has a museum complete with an entire ghost town to explore. Fairplay is about 10 miles away. Boreas Pass, Guanella Pass, Mosquito Pass, and Weston Pass are but a few of the many areas you will want to explore - especially in the Fall as this area is known for it's magnificent Fall foliage. You can take Mosquito Pass right into Leadville and explore dozens of old mines there. Breckenridge with world class skiing and shopping is less than an hour away, roughly 30 miles. Buena Vista with its famous rafting and ATV trails is 40 miles away. Colorado Springs is about 75 miles away. The home is located on Highway 9 south of Fairplay. You will enjoy the flexibility of being able to explore all of the exciting areas in the heart of the Rockies by being in the center of all the activities. You will be able to enjoy a luxurious home but also the seclusion and beauty that only a true mountain setting can offer.

Beautiful Mountain Views
Ten members of our family came together at Red Mountain Ranch. The home is located in a rural location with gorgeous mountain views. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch and soaking up the tranquility of the setting. The house was very clean, had all supplies needed for a stay away from home, big enough accommodate our large group, and the check in and check out procedures were very easy. The hosts, Second Home Vacation Rentals went above and beyond for our family. Our original rental was canceled 3 days before our trip. Second Home stepped in and found us Red Mountain Ranch. Thank you very much. We had a wonderful time.

Holiday stay
The house layout is really great. Large bedrooms, 3.5 baths, good-sized, well-stocked kitchen. The views are amazing; the hot tub is fantastic. However, upon our arrival, we discovered that the house had not been cleaned thoroughly. There were cereal bits under tables, crackers or chips under beds, in the master bathroom something had been spilled on the wall and not cleaned up. Hairs in the sinks; the refrigerator and microwave needed wiping down. Under every bed and couch, there are remnants of past stays. There was a full load of towels left in the dryer that were still very wet. For communication, use the number listed in your emails and NOT the guest book. The person at the number listed on the guest book will flat out ignore your questions or concerns. THE WALLS ARE PAPER THIN. You can hear everything from room to room. A house requirement is to take any trash you cannot fit into small bins all the way into Alma (about 20 mins north) to their business premises. We stayed for two weeks over Christmas so we had lots of trash. If we had known that requirement before booking, I would gone elsewhere. You should not have to pay that much money to be your own trash service. On a positive note: the water lines had dirt in them for a few days and the company delivered plenty of water for drinking and cooking. Overall, we had a nice time despite all the things but we do not feel we received an equal value for the money we spent. We won’t stay again.

Red Mountain Ranch
My family and I loved this property! The views were amazing from the front deck, especially in the mornings while drinking coffee! More than enough room for the five of us…way more room than we needed! Clean, everything worked and nothing lacking on supplies or amenities. We had fun exploring the woods and getting in the hot tub at the end of the day too! About 10 minutes to Fairplay for any groceries or gas and about 40 minutes from either Breckinridge or Buena Vista. Would recommend!

Beautiful Views
We had 3 generations staying in the home. All were quit satisfied with accommodations. The two 3 year olds and the 4 year old loved spending time on the swing set and looking at rocks in the driveway. The hot tub was used by the adults every evening. The sunsets are indescribable!

Deer is say more
This was a beautiful property that had everything we needed. We felt at home and comfortable cooking and enjoying coffee. There was a lovely family of deer who hung out right by the house. From the master bedroom when you open the drapes there they were! What a site. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your home!

Great experience
We enjoyed staying here .close enough to the trails and town. We rode a lot of the trails, and enjoyed the hot tub at night. The hot tub cover does need replaced but other than that we had zero complaints. Loved the location and how big the house was. Kids loved the play set and playing on the rocks on the hill!

Beautiful home. We loved all the Native American decor. The outdoor Hot tub on the deck with a view was a major part of my decision to pick this property. We were disappointed that fires are not allowed and the only critique I'd have is that the beds are all too firm for a comfortable nights sleep for someone who sleeps on their side like I do. A fantastic place with plenty of room for our adult children and grandson. Very clean , modern, spacious and functional. Had a great time and would rent it again. Thanks

Absolutely excellent.
Everything worked, down to the PS3 when we wanted to play Oblivion during a rainstorm. The property is so beautiful that even while hiking away from it we found ourselves excited to go back. The hot tub was awesome (color-changing lights?!); the beds, couches. and bathrooms were all clean and spacious, and both the hill behind the cabin and the cabin’s front porch provided a priceless view of the mountains, valley, and all the weather passing through. If I had one constructive criticism: One more chair for the covered part of the front porch would have been great, because we didn’t want to leave that porch! 5/5 overall.

Mountain Cabin get away
First off, it's a nice property, it was very large and the kids called it their mountain castle. The amenities were great with a few exceptions (read below). The place was really clean, with one small exception. The hot tub was fantastic, the grill and oven were easy to use. Our youngest child (age 3) loved his bedroom and played with the toys. The tweeny thought their bedroom was the best until they found that the PS3 didn't work (see below for details). The master bedroom layout was awesome. The beds were comfy, the linens were fresh and clean. As mentioned you want to buy food before you get there, the store in town next to the property was nice and fully stocked. Now for the Details on challenges: Very pleased with the property and I would have rated it 5 stars for everything if it wasn't for the dirty cabinets, Plug to the soaking tub wouldn't go down to plug the tub so we couldn't use it. The lighting in the living room, bedroom, and one of the bathrooms had dead bulbs so it was very dim, especially in the living room (couldn't see the tv remote buttons). I considered changing them myself, but some of them required a step stool or ladder, which I didn't have and they all required removing the lamp, etc. If I was at home I wouldn't hesitate to do it, but if I accidentally dropped or broke something I would pay big for it, so I didn't change them. They had a PS3 with a lot of games, but controllers were dead, no cords, all accessories for Guitar/band Hero were destroyed. Direction mishap: The property is tucked away on the hillside, the directions said to print out their directions and not use GPS as internet access can be sporadic. I printed out the directions and tried to follow them to the letter. There were two major discrepancies in the printed directions that caused a ton of confusion, thank god, GPS actually did work it got us the rest of the way there. 1st discrepancy on the long stretch on i285, it said to follow it 55.4 miles. I traveled the estimated 55.4 miles but no left turn to CO 9 S. I traveled a few more miles in both directions and nothing. I finally realized the GPS was working and entered the address, I found the CO 9 S was 15 mins past their expected turns, based on the printed directions. Once you get on Redhill Rd, stay on it, don't turn on Authur's ct. Just continue straight on Redhill Rd, Bonell Dr will be on the left.

Christmas in the Rockies
This home was everything we wanted it to be and more - the view is indescribable! We did Christmas in the mountains and this home was the perfect distance to the picturesque town of Breckenridge without all of the busyness of people like a resort would be. The hot tub on the deck was wonderful! We had plenty of room to spread out and enjoy. If you are planning a trip in the winter, however, you really should follow their advice of a 4WD vehicle — you will definitely need it!!

Beautiful setting, amazing views, thin air
The property served us well--we had 2 "parents" and 4 20 something kids. Enough bedrooms, big dining room table and ample kitchen. We took excursions for rafting, hiking, mountain biking and shopping. There isn't anything close...but all within a 30-40 minute drive. And the stars are night are breath-taking. But don't overexert as you are at 9600' and the air is a little thin.
