The apartment was charming; however, it could use some updating. The location was excellent, quiet, and easy access to local stores and restaurants. Ideal for a short stay.
The property is as described and worked for us. Great value, clean, and the awaiting snacks were appreciated. Nice neighborhood, as well, with a Wawa one block away, which is convenient. We would stay again.
We really liked Olde Town; the location was great, and close to the seawall and lots of historical buildings. The house itself was old and seemed a bit run-down (not everything worked), but the owners were responsive to addressing urgent concerns, and the price was good.
We enjoyed our stay. It was centrally located to Portsmouth Downtown and our Activities. Great Neighborhood with lots of history. Apartment is located upstairs with stairs, and had some dust bunnies, but overall clean. Thanks for the treats. Yes, we would book again.
Everything went well. Property is in old Towne Portsmouth so know it is a older house. Great communication, easy parking (street) tons of local food places in walking distance as well as a farmers market/craft vendors that was fun and a thrift/flea market near on Saturdays. Only downfall was need better toilet paper. Maybe bring some of your own. Perfect other than that small detail
Everything just as it states in the listing. Might want to take an extra extension cord if you have devices to plug in. Would definitely stay here again !!

Liked: Cleanliness, amenities, property conditions & facilities, communication
our three night stay was great. The apartment was clean and the owner was very responsive whenever we had questions. It was made very clear prior to choosing this property that it was an older building. Some of the interior doors don't close properly and the floor creaks pretty good in spots but this by no means takes away from the properties quaint charm. There are restaurants and entertainment within walking distance as well as ferries that can take you to waterside. Everything was as described and worked as described. The only thing I want to warn against is the stairs to the apartment, they could be pretty tough for the elderly, anyone with bad knees or handicapped people. I would definitely stay again.
As described in the listing, this house is very old and with that age comes some quirks, like creaky floors. This is a lovely home with age appropriate "wear and tear". The home is clean and well stocked with kitchen supplies, bedding, etc. I won't say it's perfect, and it could use a few updates, but it is comfortable and clean for sure! If we return to the Norfolk area in the future we will definitely stay here again. Thanks for a lovely stay!
Cozy historic apartment, bit of a bumpy stay, 3.5 stars
My friend and I wanted to stay somewhere near the Norfolk Amtrak station while we visited here for the long weekend. This home in Old Town Portsmouth is in a pretty neighborhood and a short walk to a lot of cafes, shops, and the local ferry. It fit our needs quite well and it was a comfortable and spacious stay! We also enjoyed all the neighborhood cats and the takeout food we ordered that was delivered here with no issues. The owner was also quite nice and left us a frozen pizza and some chips and hummus for our arrival!
There were some drawbacks. The area is a little rough, so I’m glad we stayed together - one night, we heard a guy yelling outside at 2 am and there were four police cars surrounding him. Nothing else happened, but it did make us both lose some sleep. In my room, there was an active wasp nest in the window. Again, the bugs did not cause any injuries and when I let the owner know, he responded about it right away to say he could send a maintenance man to take care of it. My friend also tried to dry her clothes in the in-unit dryer. For some reason, it didn’t dry anything despite running as if it was going to. Again, the owner responded right away and let us know he could send someone to fix this. I also personally think the sheets were not the softest, but they were definitely clean and the beds and furniture were all in very good repair. All minor stressors, I would say, but certainly something to consider if you want to stay in this neighborhood.
