The Space:
Our loft-style, newly-renovated cabin has all the comforts of home, just nestled away in the WV mountains. Woodhaven Retreat is fun for couples, families, or groups of friends -- and is the perfect home base for your getaway!

The cabin includes:
- Outdoor hot tub perfect for relaxing
- Bedroom on the main floor (queen bed), loft bedroom (queen + twin bed), basement bedroom (queen bed, twin bed, and twin bunk bed), and a sleeper sofa in the basement as well
- Two bathrooms, one on each level
- A spacious deck for relaxing and grilling
- A modern kitchen with new stainless steel appliances (including dishwasher) and an island perfect for hanging out while prepping meals
- Fast, reliable WiFi that’s more than enough to stream movies and hold video calls
- Smart TVs (both in the living room and basement), where you can log into all of your favorite streaming services
- Central AC to heat to keep you comfortable
- Open main room with plenty of natural light
- Outdoor fire pit to wind down the evening with s’mores!
- An outdoor yard game treasure box full of activities for kids and adults: cornhole, volleyball, soccer balls, horseshoes, and many more!

Our community also has access to a large private pond -- just a short drive from the cabin. It’s open year round for fishing (we’ve caught bluegills, bass, and catfish), and in the summer is great for a swim!

We often take our three little kids and dog to the cabin with us, so we're very family- and dog-friendly. Unfortunately we don't allow cats (we're allergic).

Beyond the cabin itself, we love how close we are to everything! Just a short 5-minute drive from the cabin is Cacapon Resort State Park. The park is free to enter, and has a ton of activities - including lake and beach, clay shooting, horseback riding, an 18-hole golf course, and miles of hiking trails.

Lastly, you can get to the city of Berkeley Springs in about 20 minutes. The town has been voted one of the top arts communities in the US – and the shopping, spa, and restaurant scene does not disappoint!

Fall getaway

We just had birthdays, 70 & 72. Love the outdoors. This quiet place in the woods was awesome for us. Outside hot tub was wonderful. Faces the woods, leaves were beautiful. Cabin was very roomy and kitchen well stocked. Very comfortable beds, slept so good! We saw at least 30 deer during our stay. We will be back... wonderful!

Spacious Cabin

Eight of us stayed and we had plenty of room and enjoyed a very comfortable stay. The property is very close to Capacon State Park and Berkeley Springs with plenty of trails and wildlife. The amenities were great with a full kitchen, laundry machines, games, wifi, TVs for streaming, a fire ring, and more.

Beautiful home - AWD needed in winter!

My friends and I enjoyed our time at the cabin, which was clean and quiet in a beautiful location. However, the listing did not indicate that there is a road with a steep incline that you need to drive up in order to reach the home, and one of our vehicles was not able to make it up the hill with snow on the road. If you're visiting in winter, be sure any vehicles that need to reach the house have all-wheel drive! The sleeping layout worked well for us, and beds were more comfortable than we anticipated when we first sat on them. The large couch in the main living area is broken, though, which made it less comfortable to spend time together than we wanted. The only other seating in that space is the benches with the dining tables, which are convenient for group meals. The kitchen had most essentials, but some pot holders would be an excellent addition and the kettle handle needs to be repaired (be prepared to be creative so that you don't burn yourself). Also, bring your own hand soap. The bathrooms had a few individual packets of makeup-removing towelettes, but no soap of any kind in either bathroom, only dish soap at the kitchen sink and some shampoo in the shower that appeared to be left behind by previous visitors. Finally, several outlets in the lower level were not functional. We did not test them throughout the house, but check what is working where before you choose a bed, if you need to have a device charging overnight nearby.

The good and the bad

First of all the owner and communication with him was fantastic and everything worked but that’s where the good part ends. The property does not look like the pictures. It was very dated and didn’t feel clean. There was no firewood for a fire, the grass was really high but the owner did have it mowed for us the next day, the downstairs bathroom had an old tub with a shower head on the ceiling but no curtain so showers were not an option down there, the closet doors in the main bedroom were broken, the kitchen cabinets were really old and some hinges were broken. It was just not as nice and clean as the pictures made it look.

A quite location for a relaxing time

My wife and I stayed here for two nights with our dog. Tony was very accommodating as we asked for an early checkin. Wifi works great, the property was very clean. The area was very quite so you got to enjoy the outdoors. Our dog loved to watch the deer and wild turkeys that you would see wondering around. The hot tub was a great addition as well to enjoy time at the property. After you book, Tony has a document that walks you through everything and some places to see. We went to most of the restaurant recommendations and they were good tips!

I live in DC with my wife and three young kids. I love camping/hiking, drinking (and sometimes brewing) great beer and wine, exploring new restaurants and shops, and traveling all over.

Why they chose this property

We spent years searching for the perfect getaway, and wanted to be close enough to DC that we could do a day trip. We fell in love with the area – and Woodhaven Retreat in particular. We love how cute and cozy our cabin is, and all the fun outdoor activities we can enjoy year-round. :)
