Twenty years ago, we visited the Bacalar Lagoon, and it was love at first sight. Being in a place with fresh water and seeing so many shades of blue, with peaceful dawns and changing waters throughout the day as the wind wakes up, painted an incredible picture. We dreamt of having a place on the shore of the lagoon to enjoy for as long as possible.
We assigned ourselves the task of finding the best place to build Casa Relaxo, and we discovered a beautiful, secure, private land with wide spaces between lots, allowing for an encompassing natural environment.
It's common to see a family of monkeys feeding their babies all the fruits that the surrounding trees have, while enjoying breakfast on the terrace. We wanted to be in the middle of the jungle, overlooking the lagoon, yet still safe with floor-to-ceiling mosquito nets on the terraces and windows to enjoy nature.
We also wanted to have a wide pier with areas to sunbathe and a palapa over the lagoon, where you can take a kayak ride or enjoy the best position to watch the sunset.
And what is life without friends and family? So, we made sure there were enough beds to share this dream with our loved ones. This is how our dream became a reality, and we hope you can enjoy it with your loved ones.
