The space:
Uncommon. Special. Noteworthy. These are words to describe This Old River Cabin. Built in 1884 and thoughtfully renovated in 2020.

Throughout the cabin, you will see local art highlighted such as pottery, paintings, leatherwork, stone, dried florals, and more. We have created not only a space but an experience.

We are close to everything. Minutes to Banner Elk, ski slopes, Grandfather Mountain and so much more.

KITCHEN/LIVING ROOM (Featured on The Spruce)
Smart TV for streaming (Netflix and Disney Plus are included). Puzzles, games, a wide selection of books.

The kitchen features hand-poured concrete countertops, custom kitchen cabinets made from wormy chestnut that was recycled from the cabin's original walls, a large farm sink, a fully stocked coffee bar with a drip coffee pot, and a Chemex.

All the amenities you could need. Crockpot, blender, knives, cutting boards, bar accessories, pyrex, pots and pans, spices, olive oil.

PLEASE NOTE: There is NO garbage disposal or filtered water dispenser on the refrigerator. We do however provide a water filtration pitcher for your use during your stay.

MASTER BEDROOM -
King bed featuring a Tuft and Needle mattress and West Elm bedding with dual zone heated mattress topper. USB outlets and power outlets are located in nightstands. There is no closet. The fireplace in the bedroom is not usable. The sound machine and salt lamp add the perfect soft touches.

SECOND BEDROOM-
Custom-built bunk beds and a queen bed. The queen bed is also a Tuft and Needle mattress. Two leather beanbags and some twinkle lights make this room extra fun. Not a room just for kids but anyone can enjoy it. No closet.

SHARED BATHROOM-
A beautiful space with a shower/bath combo. The sink was carved from a rock pulled from the river on the property and hung with care.

DOWNSTAIRS BATHROOM-
Custom stonework shower with a rain shower head and a carved stone sink. Feels like a rustic spa.

OUTDOOR SPACE-
A wrap-around deck with a 6-person table under string lights plus a porch swing and a couple of rocking chairs. Fire pit for s'mores and a large backyard to run around.

Other things to note:
A 4-wheel or all-wheel drive is needed on snowy days for our road/driveway. You will have to cross a small wooden bridge.

Banner Elk cabin

We loved our stay in this rustic yet modern cabin. My family had a wonderful weekend getaway here and enjoyed the property so much, we loved the river right on the property and the hot tub overlooking it. That was the highlight for us :) The kids loved the bunk beds and the master bedroom is so spacious, easily fit the pack and play for our 2 year old. Thanks for letting us stay in your cabin, we hope to come back!

Family time

Our stay was just so relaxing. We loved the cabin and we loved being outside on the creek/river and sitting by the fire pit. The location makes it very easy to get to different mountain attractions. So glad we had the chance to stay here. Thank you!

Above Expectations

We were four old college roommates meeting up for a girls weekend. This Old River Cabin was the perfect place for us to relax and reconnect. Loved the mix of the rustic old cabin and modern furnishings. The back porch was a wonderful place to enjoy a glass of wine and listen to water in the little river. Beds were all really comfortable. Location put us 15-30 minutes from everything we wanted to do: Grandfather Mountain, Blowing Rock/Boone, wineries/ breweries and restaurants. Veronica was a fabulous host. She was always quick to respond to any questions. If you are looking for a place to stay in Banner Elk that is unique and not your typical basic mountain cabin, you will love this place!

Storybook setting

We absolutely loved staying at Old River Cabin in Banner Elk. It was everything we hoped it would be and more. Every little detail was thought of from wonderful cooking spices to the most luxurious bedding. We also greatly appreciated the use of non toxic care products in the kitchen and bathrooms. The hot tub and surrounding river were just icing on the cake! This was truly a magical getaway for us! We can’t wait to return:)

My husband and I stayed at the river cottage for a long weekend. I was excited to stay here from the pictures it looks so cute and charming and it did not disappoint the setting was perfect the attention to detail was amazing they have done a such a great job keeping the character of the cottage the sound of the creek was perfect the fire pit was so nice to have. Veronica was amazing at getting back asap with any questions I had, and very attentive! It was in a great location a short drive(3 minutes) to downtown banner elk and close by to blowing rock and Boone we took the parkway. We had a great time and will definitely be back!

Secluded but close to everything!

Beautiful home built in the 1800’s with a modern twist. Everything you would need is there! I loved the secluded feel, but you could be close to a shop in a few minutes. The porch is amazing. Overlooks a small river that has stairs down to it, so my son played for hours! And the hot tub is off a little path with the cutest Edison lights. Such a relaxing stay and the host was very communicative!
