My family stays in Dexter twice a year to visit family. The place we have been staying for years is no longer available for short stays so we scrambled to find another place. This place was beyond perfect. Cozy, plenty of space, comfortable beds, and stocked with anything you may need. My husband and kids enjoyed the easy access to the snowmobile trail. Will definitely book again!
Very nice property! House has all the comforts of home-very comfortable furniture, great kitchen and dining area, master bedroom with extra big bathroom area and great finishes throughout house.
We were in town visiting family and found this gem of a property. It was cozy and homey with a large sun room in the front that was delightful. Plenty of room for our larger family, and a well stocked kitchen to help prepare meals. We highly recommend this house if you’re in the area and looking for a great place to relax!
Spacious and clean, lovely view to the lake and central to all we needed. Excellent communication. Beds were not as comfortable as we are used to but all other amenities made up for it.
Beautiful kitchen space and very comfortable living room chair and couches.
We had a wonderful experience at this beautiful Vrbo. The hosts were organized and easy to communicate with. They responded quickly to all inquiries in a pleasant, professional manner. The house was clean, tastefully decorated and and full of amenities. The property was well suited to our group of young adults. We enjoyed the 4 kayaks, had a bonfire and watched the beautiful sunset from the deck . We couldn't have been more pleased by our experience. We will stay again should the opportunity arise.
The house is clean and well laid out. They did a beautiful job on the renovation. My spouse and I stayed there with my parents. There was enough space for us to spend with each other and have separate time. It was amazing to have the second bathroom. They had everything we needed. They are very quick with responses if you have questions or need anything. The information packet is helpful in advance so you can plan ahead of time for activities and places to eat- very organized. The water was a bit further away from the house than I thought. There is a bit of an incline to get to the dock area. My folks who are 80 and 76 were able to do it but it may be tricky for some. All in all it was exactly what we needed. We are grateful. Thank you Lisa!
The property matches the listing. I, my mother and my uncle had a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
Positives:
1. The property was clean and well maintained. All appliances and amenities were in as-new condition.
2. Lake Wassookeag is beautiful and good for fishing.
3. The kayaks were stable and great for causal use or beginners.
Negatives: These are minor inconveniences.
1. The house is on a central road and gets truck noise that interrupted our sleep several times.
2. All the doors in the house are sliding, with finicky latches. We found this inconvenient.
3. The lake access is not easy for people with mobility issues. There is a significant gap at the top of the access stairs. This is a careful, big step down for an able person, but requires assistance for someone with uncertain footing.
5. Bathtub was new and clean, but uncomfortable design.
4. The hosts were entirely reasonable and communicated well, but it was a business-like experience, with set procedures for everything. I was very surprised when they wanted a signed rental agreement, like a lease. I had never seen that at a VRBO before. I may be out of date, but my taste is for a more mom and pop way of doing things.
Recommendations: Swimming off the dock is not good due to shallow water and water plants. Drive 3 minutes or take a kayak 20 minutes across the lake to the public beach and boat launch.

Why they chose this property
We (Lisa and Mick) spent most of our lives in the Midwest. In 2016, we moved to Arizona, swearing we would never shovel snow again. A couple years later, our oldest son moved to Waterville, ME. We fell in love with Maine on our first visit and searched for the perfect lake property for the better part of the year. When we found this house, we fell in love! The intersection of the old and new in the home is so interesting. You get the 1929 feel of the house (with the slate flooring in the front part of the house) and the barn beams flanking the common areas, and the newness and clean lines of the modern kitchen and flooring. We both grew up with large gardens and fruit trees, and fond memories of area lakes, so this brings us both back to our childhood. The spacious yard, side wooded area, and view of the lake are incredibly relaxing areas that we hope to more fully develop over time.
What makes this property unique
The ITS Rail Trail runs through the bottom of our property. Bring your ATV or snowmobile and you have direct access! It couldn't be easier. The home is far enough away from the trail noise, and high-grade insulation was used on the house, so you don't hear the traffic inside. We are at the edge of a little cove on the lake, so it has a feeling of seclusion when you view the expanse of the lake. Lake Wassookeag is known for great fishing in all seasons. Bring your own fishing gear and make sure you have proper licensing.
