Perfect studio cabin the woods. If I could downsize to a small cabin home, this would be it. Excellent design, decor, cleanliness, and landscape.
We were fortunate to see deer in the backyard one evening, listen to the aspens in the wind, as well as meet the families sweet dog.
Would definitely book again!
The property is amazing! great location for outdoor activites and close to Durango. The property is beautiful and well maintained. The house offers everything needed for a full relaxing getaway. I highly recommend for a nice getaway. Thank you Amy!
We loved our stay in this beautiful little studio -- it was the perfect spot in the aspen for a fall getaway. It has a minimalist vibe and is spotless and very comfortable. Very convenient to Durango, Mesa Verde, and other nearby attractions. Highly recommend!
Can't say enough about this place! The beautiful birches, trails, space that is beautifully made, the fire place, the fun loft. The list goes on!! My partner and I had the most beautiful Christmas vacation here. Amy was an amazing host and thought through all the details for this place! Thank you for creating a beautiful space, will be back!
We enjoyed our stay very much. The house was very clean and well organized. It had everything we needed. Amy is a great host who checked in with us to make sure we had what we needed and if we had any requests. The location in San Juan National Forest is perfect and surrounded by mountains and within walking distance of several hiking trails and was beautiful with the snow. I've been coming to the La Plata's since the 1980's to hunt and camp. I'm glad to see there is now a great place to stay right in the middle of it all.
The studio felt roomy, was beautifully decorated and fully equipped. The back yard, patio, and patio furniture were perfect. When we arrived were a little surprised there were were 2 other dwellings on the property. They belonged to the owners who very gracious and this did not detract from the experience.
The location is INCREDIBLE. We just loved the place and it was perfect for a weekend getaway. This was the first kitchen of a VRBO that felt like home, we had all items necessary (including the awesome smoker) to make great dinners. Also, we ended up leaving our jackets in the closet and Amy was nice enough to ship them to us. Can’t recommend enough! We may be back. :)
This place is so special. It was my husband’s first time in Colorado and my first time as an adult and our experience here has us wanting to come back as soon as possible. The drive to this beautiful little home was magical. We kept looking at each other in awe, questioning how it could be real. The cabin seems to be built to offer the best views of the woods and we were able to see a huge wild turkey and some deer just while sitting at the kitchen bar. The owners clearly have great taste and the place felt so clean, bright, and cozy. We wish we could’ve stayed much longer.
The property and accommodations were exactly what was advertised, and we couldn't have been happier with our stay. This property put us central to all our Colorado plans and was the perfect place to get cozy by the stove fireplace and watch the snow fall after a day of fun and adventure. The cabin was very clean and well-stocked with everything we needed and then some. The host was very responsive when needed but gave us complete privacy, which we really appreciated. The provided guides on the area and the reading materials in the cabin were also an added bonus. We hope to stay here again the next time we are in the area. It was the perfect setting for our snowy mountain escape from our home climate of a subtropical island in the Gulf - being islanders, we were impressed by the heated floor and how we never felt cold/uncomfortable once!
We travelled as a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 children 11yrs and 8yr old, all the way from Louisiana. I grew up in the area but moved away in 2006, Durango/Hesperus has always kept a portion of my heart. For spring break this year we wanted snow and skiing and seclusion and we found it all at the cabin studio. The cabin had all the amenities of a “home”, the perfect exploring area for my kids, and just far enough off the road to feel like we were the only people out there. I was worried about being so far away from Purgatory Resort for skiing but it was hardly noticeable and the drive up made it worth it. The last day there it snowed 24hrs and left us with fresh memories of a winter wonderland that will last a lifetime!
We really enjoyed our stay in this cozy studio. Upon our arrival we were greeted by some local beverages and wildflowers this was a very thoughtful touch. It is a great place to unwind from the rigors of daily life.
We would definitely return to this place.
My partner, our small pup and I had a wonderful getaway in this brilliantly updated, cozy space. Our stay was mid October and we were fortunate enough to catch the tail end of the aspen fall colors that surround this small home. You have acres of hiking just outside the property and you are exactly a 20 minute (beautiful) drive from downtown Durango, so grab some snacks or ingredients for light meals. The lofted space is quite ingenious, just know that you will be climbing a (very sturdy and well built) ladder to get to bed.
I will be recommending this stay to anyone looking to explore Durango and the surrounding areas. It was peaceful to be off the main path, yet accessible to everything you need.
Thanks for a great stay!
Cozy and peaceful in a beutiful wilderness setting.
A cozy little cabin in the woods. The host was very informative prior to our stay and very attentive while we were there. We were greeted with some wildflowers and sampling of local beverages which felt very welcoming. It was well equipped with everything you could need and kept very clean. We prepared several meals with ease, indoors and out. Went for a short walk and some deer. Highly recommend this host and property.
Lovely place to unwind, observe nature, and check in with urban surroundings if desired. This well-crafted space offered a relaxing and aesthetic getaway. Host was attentive and friendly and even shared some delicious homegrown greens and veggies with us. Two great dinners cooked with ease due to well-appointed appliances. Will definitely return and highly recommend to quiet solo or couple travelers.
