I planned on spending my birthday in happy valley and searched all over for a place, then I found Lakewood cottage. I talked it over with the other couple that came with and it was an easy yes for the 4 of us. The place wasn’t far from the stadium and easy to get to. It was clean and tidy and overall an amazing stay for the weekend. We would definitely stay here again.

We stayed with Bonita for a family reunion happening at nearby Bald Eagle State Park. The rental was just what we needed and our host Bonita went above and beyond what we asked. Highly recommended!
We stayed here for a short weekend while visiting Penn State and exploring Bald Eagle State Park. The cottage was really cute, and it was nice and quiet and very clean! I did not know that there was a separate rental suite upstairs when I booked the property, but we didn't hear any noise so that was good. It had lots of wonderful conveniences and many touches that made it easy to settle in and made it feel special. We even got to meet Bonita at the store and appreciated the recommendations she provided about places to visit in the area. The book she made for cottage guests had all the information we needed and was very helpful. I will definitely stay here again in the future!
What a gem near Bald Eagle State Park! Such a nice quant place, with a fantastic host. The outdoor store located near the booking is a great place to get your fishing needs before visiting the park!
What a delight to show up at this quaint little cottage and find that it was as good or even better than pictured! Perfect for our small family to stay during a three day Penn State Graduation weekend; only about 30 minutes away from campus. Very clean and well-appointed. We used the grill outside for a lovely dinner. Owner communication was excellent, and they went above and beyond to help us retrieve an item left behind after we had checked out. Highly recommend this gem!
Cottage was easily accessible and very cute! Communication with host was easy. Overall fairly clean, but we did think that the towels and sheets could have been cleaner - we would bring our own the next time.
This was the perfect place for us to stay for the weekend. We were visiting family in the area and we were glad to have a nice place to stay that was clean and well furnished. It's located at the end of the street so it was quiet, which I appreciated for my 5 month old. Bonita was easy to communicate with during our stay. I would stay here again the next time I'm in the area visiting family.
The house had everything we needed for a low key weekend away - plenty of space with three bedrooms and the common area with coffee, wifi and a kitchen to cook a few meals. The area was quiet and peaceful and we were a short drive to anything else we needed including a brewery and distillery decorated for the holidays. Thanks!
Beautiful house and setting. The host was wonderful and helpful for information. We had some mild problems with the door lock. We had some difficulties understanding the procedure to unlock. I need clearer instructions on what buttons to push first..etc
Our goal was to get away and relax. This was a good place to get back to nature, but still close enough to local towns to pick-up those things you wish you had brought along, for me it was embroidery thread. Don’t worry, everything you need is available: toothbrush, towels, cleaning supplies, and blankets. It’s adorable. We cooked on property one evening and ate at the local pizzeria, Brothers, every other night. Each morning we slept late and only planned one activity per day: fishing, visited Penn’s Cave, the Little League Museum, and shopped in Williamsport. I would go back to Howard and I might check out another rental just to see the decorating. Btw, we respected house rules for no alcohol, assumed we’d be able to wash clothes, but you won’t have a washer/dryer, and had easy communications with the host. We believe it was money well spent.
Very clean lovely property. My only complaint is when I booked originally we only had 4 people staying. A month prior after communicating with the owner I mentioned we have 6 adults. We were then charged an extra 40.00. The house accommodates 6 people, there should not have been an additional charge . It turns out we only had 4 due to illness. For that reason? I will not return. We should never have been charged extra.
The house was perfect for our weekend fishing trip. The pictures don't do it justice, very nice place. Excellent easy communication with the property owner.
Everything was clean, tidy and decorated nicely. Quiet neighborhood close to boat rental, fishing spots and beach in Bald Eagle State Park. Short drive to Penn State. We stayed to attend the Little League World Series in Williamsport and that was an easy drive too.
Comfortable and quaint. Love the decor. Everything you needed and more. Would come back. Lake was wonderful also. Fishing and boating and lots of R and R
My husband and I stayed at this beautiful home this past weekend. We were attending a wedding at the Nature's Inn and this home was the perfect place for us to stay! It is such a cozy home with everything you need! We loved sitting out front in the morning drinking our coffee. Everyone who walked by was super friendly! I highly recommend staying here! Be sure to check out Brother's Pizza (DELICIOUS)!
We enjoyed our stay at Lakewoods Cottage! The house was clean and cozy. We enjoyed the complimentary coffee and donuts. It was a great location to explore the area surrounding State College and only 30 minutes from PSU. We hope to return to Lakewoods Cottage on a future visit.

I am a wife and mother of 4 lively boys. We love the outdoors; hunting and fishing .
Why they chose this property
After a series of moves and job changes, our family was offered this property that had just started an outdoor store from the ground up. It was an open door we had prayed for but never dreamed of it being answered this way. Since we already had a home to live in, we thought this house on the property was a way to fulfill that dream of a bnb.
What makes this property unique
The best part of this house is the location. It is at the end of a dead end street with mountains in front and back with an almost 3 square mile lake just over the dike which is visible from the property. We have a lovely 2 mile hiking trail that travels the dike and up through town on black top. We see bald eagles here regularly. It's a great lake for fishing, boating, kayaking, swimming, etc We have kayaks available for rent and the park has boats and tubes for rent as well. A 4 minute drive will get you inside the park to the official swimming area. Pavilions, trails, picnic areas and beautiful views are everywhere inside the park. We are within 30 minutes to Penn State and within 20 minutes of Lock Haven.
