Built in the early 20th century and set back from the road, this charming and secluded cabin, just one mile from World of Life Island, is a great option for couples or a family looking to get away from it all for a little while.

Located one short mile from the lake and the quaint village of Schroon Lake, this historic home boasts walls of stone and golden knotty pine along with plenty of modern amenities to ensure everyone is comfortable. Prepare meals in the well-equipped, full kitchen and then dine at the table for six or bring out the board games on rainy or snowy days. The living area features a futon, comfortable chairs, and a TV for streaming your favorite channels.

And outdoors, enjoy the expansive yard where the kids can run and play while you toss something special on the gas grill, and then gather around the firepit to roast marshmallows, tell stories, and watch the stars come out.

Beautiful cabin

Quiet, comfortable home. My only complaint about check-in was that Vacasa changed the entry code so we had some difficulty getting in. My complaint about the home is that there was mouse droppings all over the kitchen — on dining table, on kitchen counters, even in the coffee pot. Ugh.

Private and cozy

We spent 3 days on a hiking trip, the cabin is confortable with all the amenities needed for a confortable stay, the back deck with grill looks to the woods and a nearby creek can be heard ( I loved it as a background sleeping sound). The place was clean, hot water had good pressure, and beds were alright. It's located 5 minutes car from town center and 20-30 minutes from all area major trails. Would rent it again if going back.

A cosy little cottage

We loved our stay at Brook Sound. Being 5 minutes away from the village it was close to grocery stores and the beach and golf , but, provided a nice quiet environment, with a babbling brook across the road. THe cabin was extremely clean. The kitchen was well equipped, it had plenty of clean towels and bedding, a trunk full of games and plenty parking. I would highly recommend it for a stay at Schroon Lake. I had not heard of Vacasa before but we were pleasantly surprised at their level of commitment and ease of communication.

Great

Very clean and quiet house . Just eighth for my family and the occasion. Stood here for 2 nights and the place was clean . If I were ti critique anything it would be that there’s no AC but they did provide small fans . Otherwise I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a home to rent while visiting the area . Thankyou

Excellent house, but this is a rental agency property

This property is very nice and we had a good stay. However, contrary to VRBO's acronym, "...Rental By Owner", this house is not being rented out by the owner. When you rent this house, you rent it from a company called "Vacasa". When I initially rented it, I sent a message via VRBO (isn't that how VRBO wants it done?) and got no reply. Later, I got messages from Vacasa that seemed to not be applicable to the timing of my rental, e.g., sending me a check-in message on my check-out date. After I checked out, they sent me a message to my email address (not via VRBO) saying I owed more money. I got no notification of this from VRBO. When I questioned it, they said "oh, you don't really owe any money". Go figure out what's going on there. Their messages come from people with names like "John W" or "Mary B", who don't seem to be in this country, suggesting I'm dealing with outsourced customer service, not a property owner. In any case, the house is nice. I just don't want to deal with a 3rd party like this, so I don't plan to rent it again.

This house has trouble

Photo looks nice and clean. First step into the house was oh! Small but well looks like we'll cleaned. Once we three of us settled in we felt hungry. Started open the kitchen cabinet and smelled some weird old smell and not organized pots, pans, dishes. Very uncomfortable but no choice. Our choice was use our own camping cookware. Good thing was 2nd floor bedroom sheet was nice and clean. One of my freind who chose futon couldn't sleep. Why? Standing heater made real noise every 10 or 15 minutes. Next early in the morning we were out for mt algonquin. Came back. All sweaty tried to shower. Omg there's no way to use shower head. Instead we had to bath. Another noise sleep. Nest morning real horror happened. On the kitchen table lots of MOUSE POOPS. We were freaked out. On 3rd day what should we do?? Tomorrow we are leaving. After that our staying was terrible and I want to go home.. If u want to rent out this house U SHOULD UPDATE KITCHEN AND BATH AND HEATER. We travel 3 to 4 times every year. None of us NEVER had this kind of experience... Even though the reason why I gave one star is bed sheet and towels was nice and clean. I wish my review help ur business.

Cozy rustic cabin

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this cozy rustic cabin. Just a short drive to Schroon Lake where we launched our boat. Beauty abounds. We took our dogs with us and there is no shortage of wonderful places for them to run. Pet friendly area. Awesome getaway.
