This is the second year that we have rented this house. Although there are certainly drawbacks, the location and size fit us well. This house is just tired, needing a paint job in the lower level, more comfortable furniture, upgraded electrical, and other minor improvements to make it a really top choice. However, it is large (description needs updating as there is king master suite upstairs), has a very private back yard with lots of foliage and hot tub and we love the location. Overall it is worth the cost. However, be aware that the neighbors do want renters to observe quiet time after 10pm so no late parties. Otherwise they were fine.

Just OK...
I never give reviews unless they are 5-star, but am compelled to do so on this property and stay. Getting information from the property manager in a timely fashion, from beginning to end, was quite an effort on my part...not what I've experienced in numerous VRBO stays. The place was fine and previous commenters were correct about the place needing some serious TLC. But the primary reason I gave it a 3-Star was that the heating did not work...and the temperatures during our stay was in the low 50's at night and the high 50's/low 60's during the day. It took us at least 2 days to get the heating fixed, and was only done so because WE got involved and started calling HVAC people to help given the PM's resources were either unavailable or unwilling to help on short notice. Regardless, the PM offerred us 200 for our troubles and I would have been happy with that and thus just left well enough alone. However, after repeated attempts to "cash in" on his 200 offer after our stay, we got no response whatsoever from him...nothing but crickets to-date. Like I said, I never give poor reviews unless they are warranted...and in this case it is/was. Renter beware!!
Great property, location, and vibes. We walked to dinner and breakfast easily and of course the beach. Plenty of room at the house and great view from the roof top! Looking forward to visiting again.

Location & Parking with zero frills
This home's description is very difficult to understand. It is definitely 4 bedrooms: 2 upstairs and 2 downstairs. There are only 2 bathrooms - one connected to the master bedroom upstairs and one downstairs. There are some general wear and tear elements to this home that are concerning: Walls dirty/scuffed, carpet stained, furniture and electronics dated, etc. We needed it as a homebase for a wedding in town so we were happy to have a space to be altogether with good parking but I don't think we'd do it again. The neighbors were VERY nosey and I was very underwhelmed with the space and furnishings as a whole.
It felt like we were staying with a family member who did not know we were coming... as opposed to a nice vacation rental in La Jolla. The one upside to that is that we knew the 3 kids we brought would not do any damage that was not already there... we would have preferred the opposite.
Stay but be aware you are not getting luxury but you can park and walk to the beach.
Our family enjoyed a wonderful beach location at this property. It’s a two block walk to the shores. The home is a little dated with some repairs needed (hot water tap on tub in upstairs doesn’t work) but it accommodated us well. There is plenty of parking Beach towels, beach chairs and toys are provided. We would definitely return here
The house was perfect for our group of ten. 2 min walk to the beach. Bedroom descriptions are off...should be 1 king in master upstairs, 1 queen upstairs, 1 queen downstairs with a twin, and 4th bedroom has 3 twins. It was still perfect for us. Tub in master bath does not work, hot water handle is disconnected. Back yard is like a jungle oasis...gorgeous. Light switches are difficult to navigate. Very good pots and pans. Even with the small quirks, the home was perfect for us.
Enjoyed the stay though weather in La Jolla in May was still cool and little sun. Home was perfect with new carpets and painting (one room still showed work in progress). One problem was lovely tub in master bedroom has no hot water tap so unusable tub. Great jacuzzi, bbq, easy walk to main center. plenty of beach toys, chairs, etc.
We stayed in this house for 2 months during Jan-Feb 2024. The house had recently undergone renovation with new flooring, painting, and tile work in the master bath, two bedrooms, and main living room. The work was not quite finished when our reservation started but the manager was very good about adjusting the reservation to account for this. We also requested a vacuum and new BBQ grill which was supplied. Additional renovation was planned for after we left including new gutters and ceiling repair in the living room needed after a leak. The upstairs consists of a large master bedroom with king bed and large bath, a smaller extra bedroom with full bed and built-in desk/shelving unit, a half bath, and a very large recreation area with sofas, TV, wet bar, and walkout to patio. A circular stairway from the patio led to the roof with amazing sunset views. The main floor has large reasonably well-equipped kitchen, dining room with table seating 10, two bedrooms with one bathroom, and living room with doors leading out to back yard. The only downside was the white carpet that was impossible to keep clean if you actively went in and out the door to the back yard. The fully enclosed yard had lots of tropical plants, a small grassy area, patio with table and chairs, and hot tub that was served weekly. Overall, the management company was quite responsive to our needs and requests. The location is excellent being about 2.5 blocks from the beautiful La Jolla Shores beach. We could walk to
The house was in a great location being able to walk to the beach. The 3 outside sitting areas were wonderful to have, including the hot tub.
The upkeep of the house was in horrible condition. Carpeting stained and walls needed patching, blinds not all working…Generally “shabby”. We did enjoy the stay despite that but would prefer a different house next time.
The house is spacious and can accommodate a large family. The location is amazing. Close to beach, shops and La Jolla cove, village, highway, etc. The beds were comfortable and the rooftop was stunning.
There were a few quirks. There are locks on the tv on the main floor. The lighting system is bizarre, and my nephew found a mess in the bathroom upon arrival. Also the bathroom sink didn’t drain properly. Overall, the house met our needs and was a good home port for a stay in San Diego.
The other reviews for this property were very accurate. Spacious property, fun hot tub in backyard.
House in need of a lot of maintenance. Estimated 20% of the lights in the house do not work. Several faucets/tub in the upstairs bathroom do not work. Garbage disposal step falling off, main light fixture over dinning room table falling apart, mirrors that should be mounted on the wall, leaned up on the wall on the floor, lights in garage do not work, carpets have a lot of stains.
It wouldn't take much for management to maintain this property....If you can handle those issues, the location of this property is hard to beat!
If you can get past t
The location cannot be beat: in easy walking distance to the lovely La Jolla Shores beach and main street. The backyard, hot tub, and roof deck are outstanding. And the property manager, Eric, is terrific and responsive.
It is really too bad that the interior is not what I am used to in a VRBO: the carpets desperately need to be replaced and there are broken things like the faucet to the bath upstairs and to one of the sinks. Also, just a little touch up paint in a number of the rooms would go a long way to sprucing things up.
The beach things (towels, chairs, boogie boards, wagon) were very helpful, and over all, the layout worked out well for the two families vacationing together. Hopeful that this property will be touched up before our return to La Jolla, as we would like to give it another try.
The property worked out very well for my family vacation. It was quiet, well-located, and clean. However, there were a few not-so-great parts. The first was communication. I reached out a few times via VRBO and text asking for the possibility of an early check-in since my 14-mo-old daughter needed to go down for her nap, and those messages were ignored. When we arrived, the place smelled so strongly of bleach and cleaning products that we had to open all the doors and windows and get fans going to circulate the air for the first few hours. The property itself has the potential to be fantastic, but there is a lot of evidence of wear and tear (ex. when it rained, the roof in the living room leaked, and we had to use a bowl to catch the water). Overall, I would stay there again for the location and the spaciousness.
You can’t beat the location and the price. But The house needs a lot of love. If you are looking for a luxury stay, this is not the place. But if you want a place close to the beach in the best neighborhood in town, this is it. The supplies are lacking, lots of things didn’t work, bring your own laundry detergent, hand soap, toilet paper, and paper towels. The kitchen was stocked with everything for cooking! The walls need paint, the bathrooms need help, but there is a lot of Space inside and outside and a ton of beds. The view on the rooftop patio was amazing. The house was a good rental, it just wasn’t luxury.
Amazing location, room for our whole group, house needs basic maintenance.
We absolutely loved the location of this house. Walking distance to the beach was ideal, the neighborhood is relatively quiet, and we could walk to local restaurants, the market, etc. I loved being able to walk down to Scripps pier to get some beautiful pictures as well.
Outdoor sitting areas were ideal… The backyard was perfect for morning coffee, the middle balcony was great for relaxing in the afternoon and the rooftop views were spectacular at sunrise and sunset!
The house could use a little maintenance… Painting, flooring and lights were all in need of assistance. The downstairs toilet is quite noisy when flushed, and the upstairs bathroom door does not close. The top oven cooks a little hot so I’d recommend using the bottom one.
Overall, we love staying here. The hot tub was enjoyed in the evenings and the table that seats 8 to 10 was perfect.
Our family enjoyed this property as a hub while visiting the greater San Diego area. The home was spacious and in a perfect location to enjoy La Jolla or any other SD destination. Thanks!

House needs a little TLC
We stayed at this property for a week in October. The location was amazing and couldn't ask for a better spot. Only 5 minute walk to the beach, park, food.
The house it self could use some updating. I couldn't use the master tub to give my children baths since the hot water faucet was broken and also one of the sink faucet was broken as well. The other upstairs bathroom door didn't close all the way and some of the windows didn't lock. Also new light bulbs, half of them didn't work very well and label the switches there are some many Unnecessarily light switches.
Also the listing has the wrong beds selected. The master upstairs has one king bed, the room next to it has a one Queen. The 2 rooms downstairs are 1 queen and 1 twin in a room and 2 twin beds in the other room. It was nice that it had child locks on the outside doors and some cabinets since I have younger children. There is even a pack n play with a small mattress that is not listed.
In the garage, there are some sand toys and beach chairs and even 2 kid chairs, a wagon, a sports umbrella and a couple umbrellas.
It could use some updates like new carpets and paint but if that's not important to you then it's a great house with an amazing location. 20 minute drive to the San diego zoo, 15 minutes drive to sea world and there is even walking distance to another aquarium near by.
