House was just as pictured. When we walked in, the house smelled really clean which felt relaxing! We loved that there was an alley to go through and park in the back. There's a little gated area for the pups which was great. We really enjoyed our stay at Ms. Amandas house. If we're ever back in McAllen we would definitely book with her agajn!
This property is really good if you are in the McAllen area for a few days. Fantastic location and plenty of space. A nice alternative to local hotels.
We stayed five nights at the Arches. It was an excellent base for our birding excursions. The house is clean and spacious, and met all our needs. Would stay here if we come back again.
The property was clean, and well located for our family event. There were enough beds and linens, and Amanda responded to questions immediately, no matter the time. Only drawback, and a significant one, was that the pool, which was listed among the amenities that our grandsons were looking forward to, was not available.
We found the property to fit our needs, we had two couples, the beds were a bit uncomfortable but ok for a short stay, FYI the grill was a charcoal side smoker we made some great steaks and brisket, the coffee pot is a Keurig pod type, there was 1 hair dryer in the large bedroom, however no hairdryer in the small bathroom. It would be nice if these things were listed so we know all the amenities. overall we were happy with the property.
p.s. we had to unplug a bunch of scented Febreze things as the scent was too overpowering.
The property is as advertised. It is clean inside and has mostly everything we needed. The yard does need some TLC, the fence at the back needs replacement and the garage door opener didn't work. There wasn't a binder with Wifi passwords, or it wasn't visible, so we were missing basic information about the property guidelines.
We had to go back to the emails and find the Wifi password.
I might rent it again, however the added fees were pretty high, making the total cost almost double the nightly stay.
Those costs could push us to a hotel in the future. But that is happening at a lot of rentals, not this one specifically. Host fees and cleaning fees are making hotels look more attractive, because you don't have to clean up, and pay a cleaning or host fee - after you pay for the room charge. Again that is for most VRBO rentals lately. All in all it was a favorable experience.
This house was in a safe neighborhood and fit our needs. If we ever have to come down to McAllen again we will stay here. It’s convenient to everything.
Amanda was very responsive and even got in her car to come and help us get at 9:30 at night to get us into the house. Thankfully we got in and I was able to call her off. One issue, all the bedrooms need bedside tables.
We didn’t have time to use the neighborhood pool, but it looked nice.
Having access to the two car garage was wonderful as we were cleaning out my in-laws trailer.
