A Wonderful Getaway

When we showed up, the outside looked just like the pictures! The inside was as nice as the outside. It was so quiet and relaxing. We loved the fresh eggs and vegetables! We were able to grill out and sit by a fire. Even though we were in the woods, we still weren't far from other things to do. The hiking was our favorite! Definitely recommend this place!!

Relaxing and unique location

Very kind host and well-outfitted guest house. Really enjoyed the fresh pick-your-own produce option and fresh eggs from the backyard chickens! Comfortable accommodations with fun games/movies. Close enough to city centers to get groceries or a nice dinner but far enough removed that feel away from it all. Host greeted us upon arrival and gave us a thorough run down on appliances and features of the location. After that, we were left alone to unwind and relax. Unique location with lots of thoughtful, custom touches. The eco-mindedness is sincere and well -implemented. One of our favorite vacation getaways we've had, thank you!

The perfect getaway!

We’ve stayed here a couple of times before in the last few years but it was our first time booking on VRBO. We love it so much. The surroundings are beautiful and so peaceful and the studio itself is immaculate. It has everything you could ever possibly need — we never even leave the property when we stay. No other booking has ever lived up to the standard set by Maryalice and Don. You have to come here!

Perfect retreat in the woods

The property was a perfect play to stay for Dad's weekend at OU. Very private and quite and certainly not a hotel room stay. The host was there to meet us and give us a quick tour of the place. Will defiantly try and stay there again when we visit out daughter in Athens.

We are homesteaders, green advocates and nature lovers who want to share the feelings of satisfaction of being in this space. Some guests are interested in gardening, chickens, or learning more about sustainable options to help our planet and we are able to share ideas. We want all guests to feel welcomed, pampered, at peace and fully relaxed.

Why they chose this property

This property has a view from every angle and is next to the Wayne National Forest. It houses lovely spring ephemeral wildflowers, which only bloom each spring for several weeks. We are on the bird migration path, so see multiple varieties of warblers, grosbeak, towhees, cardinals, blue jays, finch and others. We see box turtles, salamanders and newts, turkey and deer. Butterflies love our pollinator habitat.

What makes this property unique

We love being in nature, but also being close to a vibrant college town, filled with local eats, microbrews and wineries. Hiking is abundant as back to nature is a priority. Local trails, lakes and rivers provide many options for experiencing the connection to the best things on earth.
