Home Away From Home
Our host provided all the comforts of home! We were able to cook meals in an amply supplied kitchen; the location is just behind one of the VA's location across the country, which was peace of mind for me (USN Veteran); the Cottage is centrally located to everything accessible by car to big town (Asheville downtown) and small towns (Black Mountain & Weaverville); and just enough traffic coming and going on the road in front of the Cottage to feel like we weren't alone. The view from the front picture window to watch the sun rise and set every day was breathtaking! Along with a mama bear & her two cubs playing along in the yard; wild turkeys; and a kitty cat. We will never forget our stay at 7 Oaks Cottage!! My only suggestion would be more lighting at night that is not just motion detection. I'm accustomed to lights being on around the outside of the house at night, but there was only one I could turn on which was the garage light pointing at my car. Other than that, the stay was as if we were at our own home in New Orleans.

Very pretty with all the conveniences needed. Loved the cottage. Only problem we had was that we received very bad news on the second day there and had to leave and come back home for a funeral. We weren’t able to stay the whole time but we enjoyed the time we had. Will definitely use Vrbo again. High marks on all!

I am a bookkeeper by profession, a nature lover at heart, and a proud mother of a 16 yo girl and 9 yo boy. My husband, Mark, and I love adventuring in nature and trying new things. Camping is the most frequent way we adventure here in the Appalachian Mountains. A boat in campsite on lake Jocassee, in South Carolina, is one of our favorite yearly routines.

I grew up in Vermont and have spent time living in, what I feel, are some of the most wonderful places in the United States! Captiva Island, Fl (on a little houseboat), Berkley, CA (across the bay from San Francisco), Tassajara Zen center in Carmel Vally, CA, Santa Fe, NM and Durango, CO.

When Mark and I began feeling like we wanted to relocate from Colorado, I thought of the Blue Ridge Parkway, which has been a very special place for me since hiking the Appalachian trail in 1999. We flew out to visit, discovered Asheville (a place I did not visit when thru-hiking years ago) and fell in love immediately.

Having relocated to Asheville in 2008. Mark and I have lived in North, West and for the past several years, East Asheville. Asheville is a delightful place that offers so much! We are very happy to be raising our children here and to have this wonderful place to call home.

Why they chose this property

Just seven minutes down the road from our home, my husband and I fell in love with this adorable cottage as soon as we saw it. Something about it was truly charming.

When the FSBO sign went up we looked at each other and nodded. After purchasing the home from the previous owners of over 40 years, my husband began caringly remodeling and has transformed this quaint cottage into an updated abode without sacrificing any of its delightful charm.
