John Barleycorn for the win!!
The John Barleycorn home feels like HOME!! Stuart was an amazing host and made you feel so welcomed in his home. He was available for questions/requests and gave many great suggestions for shopping, restaurants, and other things to do. The art in the home was perfectly curated to the space. It was a charming whimsical space to be for the five days we were there. Everything you can imagine you would need was thoughtfully planned, from the well stocked kitchen, to the extra medications and razors in the linen closets. The beds were SO comfortable, as well. The backyard was artsy, private, and quiet. The neighborhood was close to everything. It was an incredible stay! I cannot wait to come back to Stuart's place. He is a gem of a human!

Eclectic Portland Home
The owner takes their job as host very seriously, which is not a bad thing! The beds were comfortable, there was plenty of towels, stocked medicine cabinet with necessities, coffee/ tea bar, lots of instructions for how to make ourselves comfortable and make our way around the home and neighborhood. Location is great, only a couple blocks walking distance from lots of shops and food spots. For someone who likes minimalistic atmospheres, however- this place is not for you. The home is filled with eclectic odds and ends, making it quite busy. There are only 2 true bedrooms with big enough beds for an adult. There is a kids room with a kids mattress and trundle bed, and another small room with a twin mattress. I wish we had known the layout before booking as some of our party opted for a hotel to find more comfort. Two of the three toilets are also hidden in a bedroom (one without a door) which made for an awkward stay. Otherwise we found what we were looking for in this spot- a place to sleep and gather between outings.

Absolute Perfection
Love pretty much everything about this charming, wonderful house. The host was very kind & communicative, finding & getting into the place was a breeze, and the location was beautiful- an older, quiet neighborhood with huge trees and lovely old homes - but literally 5 minutes away from anything you could ever want. The house is quirky with a very unique setup and lots of squeaky floors. But it was appointed with anything you could possibly need for a little getaway. From a sauna, to an excellent array of music and musical instruments, to very comfortable beds & bedding, it was really just perfect. I can't say enough nice things. The tiny considerations that the host makes, from helpful but not obnoxious notes everywhere, to a fantastic selection of teas, a rice cooker... really anything you can think of and might need. They even left us apples & nuts to enjoy, as well as small cartons of milk and half & half for our coffee. What a charming, lovely, PERFECT place.
