Seven ancient settlements merged to form today's town of Kastela on a stretch of Croatian Adriatic coastline in Dalmatia, between the heritage - listed UNESCO cities of Split and Trogir.
Kastilac, another incredible Game of Thrones location, was a Benedictine monastery fortress on the Adriatic Sea. Due to the Turkish threat, during the 15th century the Benedictine nuns completed the construction of a fortified settlement on the islet of Gomilica—40 m away from the shore, connected by a stone bridge, and protected by a high defensive tower.
