This review is coming from someone who has been renting cabins in the WNC mountains at least twice a year for nearly a decade. I understand that cabin rentals are never perfect and that in exchange for remoteness, there will be challenges.
With that in mind, this property is amazing in so many ways, but substantially less great in others. As advertised, the views from this cabin are absolutely unbelievable. We had the opportunity to see two sunrises that I will not soon forget. Also, we loved the solitude. The drive to the cabin is pretty standard for that part of the country. If you want a good view and some quiet, be prepared for some unpaved roads and steep inclines. I actually thought the 4-mile unpaved section was fairly well-maintained. Another pro is the construction of the cabin; the layout suited our party of 8 and there was plenty of room to spread out inside and out! The game room was a huge hit for family members of all ages.
Despite all of this, we had issues. First of all, the major appliances in the kitchen are in dire need of a refresh. The garbage disposal was not working at all and the refrigerator had a terrible odor. Second, the TV situation isn't great. I suppose that is not really the reason one comes to a cabin; however, New Years weekend is a huge football weekend and we had several family members who were invested in the games. Streaming only worked so-so. Finally, and worst of all, the cabin essentially ran out of water after 36 hours. If a cabin is advertised to sleep 8, one would assume that there would be sufficient water supply for 8 people to shower, use the toilets, and cook/wash dishes. Such was not the case. We had to reset the water pump 4 times in the last 24 hours just to have a few drops of water to take quick showers, use the toilets, and wash dishes. Not a very relaxing end to a vacation and a deal-breaker as far as considering renting this cabin again.
