About this property

No Hurricane Damage! Large pet friendly country retreat. 11 mins to Lake Lure.

NOTE: We are grateful that our home did not suffer any damage from Hurricane Helene. We have power, water and internet. We're happy to welcome guests, both vacationers and monthly renters!

If you enjoy privacy in a peaceful country setting, while being less than 10 miles from TIEC and 12 miles from Lake Lure and Chimney Rock State Park, you've found it in this spacious, warm & inviting home.

This 3-story, 3,325 sf home with 4 spacious bedrooms and 3-1/2 baths is big enough for the whole gang!

PET FRIENDLY: Please note that our home is dog friendly so guests are welcome to bring their furry friends. We allow a maximum of 2 dogs (no other pets) and there is a nonrefundable $200 pet fee per stay. Pets must be crated when left alone in our home and not allowed to roam free when outside due to other wildlife in the area. Guests must pick up pet waste from the yard and dispose of properly. ADA Service Dogs of course will not be charged a fee. However, ESAs do not qualify as Service Dogs.

MAIN FLOOR:
The 2-story living area with vaulted ceilings and hardwood floors, is filled with natural light flowing in from floor-to-ceiling windows. There is a sitting area with leather sofas, a stacked stone fireplace with gas logs, a 55" smart TV and a breakfast/game table.

The master suite is located on the main floor and has a king bed, a 36" smart TV with satellite and an en suite bath with a Jacuzzi tub and separate shower. Adjacent to the master suite is a sitting room with a dedicated office space with a desk and chair and a leather sofa.

Also on the main floor is a queen bedroom with a 35" TV that only plays CD/DVDs (we have a large collection for guests to enjoy). There is an adjacent full bath with tub/shower combination.

The fully stocked kitchen is on the main level and has granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, cooking and dining utensils and basic spices. The kitchen window overlooks the beautiful yard. Next to the kitchen is a dining room that seats 8 with mountain views. The table in adjoining great room can also be used for dining. The laundry room with a washer and dryer can also be found on the main floor.

UPPER FLOOR: Upstairs are 2 large bedrooms, one with a queen bed and one with a queen bed and day bed with a pull-out trundle (like 2 twins), and a half bath.

LOWER LEVEL: On the lower level, there is a spacious game room where everyone can enjoy a spirited game of ping pong, watch a classic movie from our collection, or enjoy playing checkers or other games on the game table. There is also a full bath with tub/shower combination. This area has doors leading to the covered back porch. Teenagers love having this space to themselves!

We supply linens for all beds and the futon in the game room.

OUTSIDE: French doors lead from the game room to a large, covered patio with both a picnic table and a dining table, together seating 10. There is also a gas grill for enjoying steaks or hot dogs cooked outside. Off the patio is an outdoor stacked stone fire pit. We are happy to supply the firewood!

Rock Springs Retreat has a 2-car garage and additional space for 3 more cars on the parking pad and 2 more cars a few feet from the house.

It’s only a 10-minute drive through the beautiful rolling hills of western North Carolina’s horse country to the Tryon International Equestrian Center, home of the 2018 World Equestrian Games. The quaint and charming shops and restaurants in Chimney Rock Village and hiking in Chimney Rock State Park are 12 miles from the home. You can swim, fish, or rent a canoe or pontoon boat to explore Lake Lure and enjoy lakeside dining only 11 miles from the home. Within 6-10 miles are Parker-Binns Vineyards for wine tastings, the Gorge Zip Line Canopy Tour, Kid Senses Children’s Interactive Museum, hiking in Bradley Nature Preserves, the Shunkawauken Waterfall and tubing on the Green River.

Rock Springs Retreat is 35 miles east of Asheville where you can enjoy all the diverse activities this artsy, funky town has to offer, such as visiting the historic Biltmore Estate or touring local art galleries and wineries.

And at the end of a fun-filled day, come home to your own country retreat and enjoy a soothing soak in the Jacuzzi tub or relax in the rocking chairs on the front porch.

NOTE: This home is located in a wooded area, and it is rare to have a power outage due to fallen trees, but is does occasionally happen. Also, while we provide the best Wi-Fi that is available in our area, the internet can sometimes be slow if multiple devices are logged on at once. We cannot be held responsible for possible electrical power outages, or if the internet is not working or is too slow, as these are circumstances beyond our control, and no refunds will be given.

This property has a septic tank, as do most homes in our area. Guests must not exceed the maximum occupancy of 12 people, including children, as it may cause problems with the septic tank.

Please note that while we have our home on a pest control program, you may occasionally see a few bugs since we are located in a wooded area. Guests can help by leaving windows and doors closed.

WEATHER: While we rarely have heavy snows, if you are coming to the mountains in winter or early spring, you must be prepared for the possibility of some ice and/or snow.

Amazing Stay with group of 11
The host’s communication pre-arrival, during, and post-departure was phenomenal. The property was very spacious and our group of 11 had a very comfortable stay. The property was somewhat secluded, we barely heard any neighbors. Huge yard for the kids to play in. Living room couches were very comfortable. Amazing dining room off the kitchen with plenty of windows and a view of mountains in the distance. The kids loved the swing and fire pit on the back patio. We look forward to staying again!

We were visiting for a horse competition at the TIEC. The drive was easy enough to go back and forth from the TIEC. House was lovely. The hosts are great and very responsive. Would definitely stay there again. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Excellent Experience
From the time you open the door you get the feeling that you are "HOME" Wide open FM Room. Great kitchen with all the gagets and service ware you would need. Luxurious linens/towels/toiletries. The separation of the bedrooms gives everyone privacy. Great finished basement for kids to play in. Tryon horse arena close-15 mins away. Fast food/shopping also close. Hope to return and explore the area further.

About the host

Hosted by Sharon Ryan

Host profile image
I am retired, but was a licensed building contractor for many years. I enjoyed building my home to accommodate large groups, while still being cozy enough for 4-6 people. My wife, Sharon, is my property manager, and we take pride in caring for our home and enjoy offering it to others to enjoy.

Why they chose this property

I designed and built my home on 3 acres of beautiful land less than 10 miles from the Tryon International Equestrian Center. There are a multitude of activities at the Center and numerous horse shows every year. It is also close to Lake Lure and Chimney Rock State Park as well.

What makes this property unique

I included a large game room with a ping pong table, games and classic movies. There is also a futon for extra sleeping accommodations. The game room opens out to a covered porch with 2 dining tables and a gas grill. Right outside the porch is a stone firepit to enjoy on chilly mountain evenings. And we provide the firewood!
