Garstone Place is wonderful!

Quiet and serene. This rustic spot is perfect for those who want to get away from the noise of crowded vacation accommodations. Great views from the dock of the night sky!!!

Cozy lake cottage!

Quiet and well equipped, this cozy cottage on a lake, near the end of a lovely rural road, offered us a serene evening sitting on the deck and dock, enjoying a glass of wine and thrilled at the sound of several loons. An easy drive to Colby College, we would definitely stay here again!

Sweetest little house

The house was perfect for us as a family of three and just what we needed to have a final summer vacation before school starts for my son. We loved the view and the dock so we could fish and play in the lake. I personally loved kayaking out and around the little islands and back. We loved this sweet little home and are thankful for the memories it gave us. Perfectly located, close to Waterville where we played mini golf at Gifford’s and ate ice cream and enjoyed dinner at Lion’s Den. Close to Cushnoc brewery and Majek sea food.

Vacation

We had a very nice stay! The place was very clean and well stocked so we felt at home. The handle on the screen door to the deck was coming off but that would be an easy fix. There was also a small musty smell downstairs but the dehumidifier helped with that. Overall, it was a very nice place to stay and very quiet and peaceful!

Not what we expected

We arrived at the property and immediately noticed the smell in the home. I echo the other review that it smells like a wet basement. The neighbors are extremely close, it’s not private. It has a nice, sturdy dock. We noticed duck tape holding up insulation on the outside of the home. We left 20 minutes after arriving.

Disappointed With This Booking

The location on the lake is great, view is wonderful and the place was clean. The unit itself is utilitarian with very basic and thin linens, towels and furnishings. As some of the earlier reviews have said, there appears to be a water intrusion/moisture issue on the lower level. There was a humidifier running when we arrived & there are noticeable bulges and exposed insulation material on the exterior of the lower level. The bedrooms are on the lower level (very rudimentary - sagging mattress in the primary, low light, thin curtains, no TV's, a little damp) with only a half bath on that level. If you want to take a shower or bath, you have to go upstairs to the living area. I do not think this, or the home in general was well represented in the description. We stayed for about a half an hour while booking a new spot and did not end up staying here. We are also disappointed with VRBO, as we texted the number provided to share our disappointment and continued to get nothing but updates on our stay; welcome, check in, check out, safe travels home, leave a review, etc. Each time they texted me, I returned the same message, with no acknowledgement of our concerns.

Great view poor sleep

Top floor was great to hang out in with the deck and view of the lake. Magical atmosphere! It’s hard to sleep in the bedrooms as it was definitely built on a wet basement where the proper moisture Barrie’s and corrective actions were not taken.
