About this property

Beautiful modern vacation lake house on Huron Bay of Lake Superior

PLEASE NOTE: Check out for our home is on Friday in order to allow the cleaning team enough time to thoroughly clean the house between guests.

Located on the quiet side of Huron Bay away from traffic, this 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath lake house has 150' of lake frontage. A beautiful modern structure with rustic decor and local decorative artifacts and photographs, this is a wonderful site for a family vacation or a romantic getaway. A large fire pit and picnic area are only feet from the sand and gravel beach that gets deep very slowly and is suitable for children. A 16' tandem Old Town kayak and a 14' aluminum Mirrocraft boat (mounted on an easy launch/retrieve ramp) encourage fishing for pike, bass, sunfish, etc. and exploring the sheltered waters of Huron Bay. Satellite HD TV provides voluntary contact with the outside world.

Normal check in time is noon Saturday. Normal check out time is noon Friday.

Thoresen's on Huron Bay: While in the house, enjoy a near-audiophile stereo and flat-panel video system with HD satellite TV, a modern fully equipped kitchen and unlimited telephone, high speed (DSL) internet, and WIFI privileges. A whole house fan provides natural cooling in the summer by pulling in air from off the lake. Heated floors and a 4' wood burning fireplace in the great room result in a cozy fall-winter-spring environment. A decorative fireplace with candle-burning ceramic logs and a 9' window in the master bedroom creates a relaxing place for having morning coffee in bed while watching loons fish in the bay.

Coming and going: Normal arrival is Saturday after noon. Normal departure is on Friday before noon.

Wonderful Huron Bay Home base
An excellent home base for exploring this beautiful area. Our stay was relaxing and very comfortable. We explored Keweenaw Peninsula, Porcupine Mountain State Park, and traveled throughout visiting the towns in the area. We wish we could have stayed longer!!!

UP Perfection!
This was a perfect location for us. The cabin has anything you could possibly need. We had nightly fires and used the kayak frequently. Eagles have a nest nearby and one even landed in the backyard! Already trying to plan a return trip. Absolutely loved it here!!!!

8/3 - 8/9/24 Vacation in Lanse
We had a wonderful time in Lanse. The house layout was open and loved it. Two bedrooms had queen beds that worked perfectly for a party of 4. Two and 1/2 bathrooms were more than we needed but great. Loved being on Lake Superior even if in the bay. I did miss the sandy beach where one can walk for miles. We did not use the kayak or boat but seemed to be in working order. I did give a lower rating for cleanliness due to the cobwebs in windows and the dishes were not quite clean. Everything else was good though and we definitely would stay here again. The home had tons of extras - corn hole, plenty of outside chairs, neat games, movies, dishes, spices, paper products, etc. Receiving answers before we left was great too. I do not think I waited 1 hour for a response. We are NMU graduates so had an idea of the area. There was plenty to do. We traveled to Houghton, Kewanau Peninsula (rock hunting), Marquette and Manistique. Location was perfect. We even ate at Finn's twice. Good food (breakfast pizza, BBQ Pork special), great selection of beer (SumerShandy) and was able to watch the Lions pre-season game. We did print off directions and was glad since cellular service does not work in the area. Would definitely stay here again.

Nice house
We enjoyed the stay. Having a boat was useful while fishing. Campfire ring was nicely placed. It looks much better life than on the photos.

Animal Kingdom
We had an amazing week with family in this spacious cabin. The layout of the rooms and the extra bathroom made this place so comfortable to share space with each other but still have our own privacy. (6 adults) The area is full of wildlife and beautiful scenery. We used the row boat a few times, cooked on the grill, sat at the fire pit, layer on the hammock and enjoyed the beautiful surroundings. We saw deer, turkeys, owls, raccoons, ducks, fish……it was so much fun just driving around the peninsula to take in all the sites. The cabin was stocked with everything you forgot and then some….very generous. We absolutely loved our stay and would recommend this place.

Huron Bay getaway
The house is as wonderful as it looks and the setting beautiful. Very peaceful area. Great location for exploring the surrounding area, Houghton/Hancock, the Keweenaw peninsula or just relaxing by the bay. Plenty of room and ample amenities. Lots of wildlife to enjoy - loons, geese, deer, birds.

Beautiful!
This house is very nice and very well taken care of. Follow the directions very carefully to the house, the address doesn't show up on Google maps but once you find it it's very easy to remember your way back if you go site seeing. I would definitely recommend this to friends and family.

Excellent family getaway
This is a beautifully maintained home on a great spot in the bay of Huron. We loved the fire pit down by the water, access to the kayak and the spacious home that fit our family of 6 perfectly. It was a great place to explore the Keweenaw peninsula and the beauty that the UP has to offer.

Northern memories
Enjoyed it 😉,the dogs next door were a bit of a pain with coming over onto the property and barking at us. But chased off easily enough. Would loved to have been able to stay for entire time I was up instead of having to move to another rental for the last two nights. Amenities were nice enjoyed the kayaks and row boat 🚣‍♀️

Wonderful house on Huron Bay
We very much enjoyed staying at the house during peak leave season. The house is very comfortable with a great view of the bay and wonderful sunrises. It is 15 minutes from grocery and lots of nearby hikes.

Huron Bay Perfection
As advertised and then some. Great setting near base of Huron Bay. The residence is well appointed and very functional. Late 80's parents joined for 2 nights and floor plan (one level) worked great with/for them. Well stocked/equipped - literally would not need to leave the property if did not want to. Great base to explore the region/area.

Loved our stay!
We couldn’t have been happier with our stay in L’Anse! This home is stocked with everything you could need to enjoy your trip, from kitchenware to games, puzzles, boat/kayak, fishing gear, fire pit, and hammock. The location on Huron Bay makes for stunning sun rises and sun sets! Great home base for seeing all that the Keweenaw has to offer. The pictures don’t do it justice- it is just amazing!

Amazing location, plenty of room inside and out.
The ofwners were very responsive to inquiries prior to renting, and through the entire process of renting and our stay there. Even before we left, we had discussed staying again. The owners have thought of everything at this property! The kayak and rowboat were in great condition and got plenty of use. The kitchen and bathrooms were both well stocked, as were all linens and outdoor equipment. Who includes a corn hole game with a home rental? These guys do… So much fun here!! Thank you!

Lovely lake front property
We enjoyed our stay at this comfortable home on Huron Bay. We enjoyed quiet, restful days at the house which is spacious, nicely decorated, has TV, wi-fi, and a kitchen with everything you might want. We made good use of the complimentary boat and kayak, and enjoyed evening campfires and stargazing. The location was convenient for activities like hiking to waterfalls, fishing, Mouth of the Huron beach, and much more.

Perfect for western UP exploring
Wonderful place! Perfect for checking out UP lighthouses and waterfalls as well as the Keweenaw. Social distancing at it’s best. Owners sent detailed directions to local hot spots and were very attentive. Immaculate cabin, rowboat and kayak with lifejackets to fit almost anyone were included and a huge hit.

Amazing property and area
Overall we had an amazing time at this property. We were never without. We could have packed a lot less because most everything we needed was already at the house. The hot water boiler was amazing and even with our boys taking long showers we were never without hot water. The house was clean and the beds were comfortable. We walked the gravel road that the house is on a couple of times and there is little to no traffic on the road. We would highly recommend driving out to Point Abbaye. You will need a vehicle with some ground clearance for the last mile. The bugs are bad during the summer but the views are amazing. We had an wonderful time and would defiantly rent this house again. There were only a few negatives about the house. The neighbors dogs were annoying at times but at least they were not aggressive. In the evening the road noise from across the bay can get a little loud but it isn't terrible.
