Beach Bird is located in the low-traffic, family-friendly North end of Sandbridge, 500' from the beach. We rent weekly from Saturday to Saturday during the peak summer months May to September. Check-in is 3 P.M. and check out is 10 A.M. We have a digital door lock, but we are almost always there since always seems a lot to do, making sure everything is working. We specialize on family and friend reunions and provide amenities for all ages including toddlers, with several cribs, a high chair, strollers, and a wagon. We also supply pool and beach toys. We have ping-pong in the rec room downstairs, and badminton and volleyball for the yard or pool, basketball for the driveway, and pickleball for the driveway or side yard. We have several portable practice putting greens which can be deployed inside or out. We have a 200 sq. ft. 2nd story deck in front and a 384 sq.ft 2nd story deck on the south side., with a 200 sq. ft. 3rd story deck for 2025. We have a 240 sq. ft. covered patio area in back, 200 sq. ft. of lounging deck with 8 chaise lounges in the rear with the 16' X 32' sports pool, which can be solar-heated. For 2025 we will have a 3 story, 630 sq. ft. addition with three more bedrooms and another bath on first floor convenient to pool area..This will bring the total to 9 BR and 5 baths, and provide accommodations for 18+ in bedrooms so we can accommodate even larger families and friends groups...The other factor to consider in the number of guests is the seating for dining, and we are working on upgrading that as well.. We presently have a seven foot by three and a half foot DR table seating eight and seven bar stools for additional seating . We will either add a second table seating 8, or my first choice is a large five foot by twelve foot table seating 16, with a removable section for smaller groups. For 2025 the new three story 630 sq. ft. addition will be finally completed. The first floor pool room will have a full bath and triple bunk with queen lower. The second floor will have a queen bed in addition to the existing second floor queen bedroom. The third floor ( we got some of our ocean view back!) will have a queen futon and double futon. The second floor of the main house has a king master bedroom, great room with kitchen, dining room, and living room, and the previously mentioned queen bedroom with full size crib. The first floor has king and queen bedrooms sharing a bath, a fifth bedroom with a queen lower, double upper bunk and with it's own full bath. The sixth bedroom has another queen lower, double upper bed. The rec room has a double futon and queen sofa bed with curtains for use with extra guests, and utility room with a double futon and sink. The kitchen is fully equipped and many guests have told us it is the best equipped kitchen they have experienced. For example we have two coffee makers, one regular and one Keurig. Many of our appliances and amenities have come from guest questions or suggestions, so if you arrive and don't find a specific item, let me know and I can and have supplied it the same or next day. The latest great suggestion came from our first week guests this year: the kitchen overhead light was pale and flickering, and they had converted their home to LED. Armed with this I went to Home Depot and lo and behold, they had direct replacement plug-in LED 4 foot bulbs. No more flickering fluorescents! We have upgraded the Great room sofas and DR table this year and will be upgrading again to provide more seating and dining space.. We completely replaced the electrical panel, a big step for safety. The pool connection got lost in the process so the past weeks have been crazy busy installing a new super-quiet pool pump and getting the pool ready. Getting back the the outside, the path to the beach is right across from my driveway. You pass two houses to get to the beach road, then two houses right to the life-guarded beach, which I recommend in unsettled weather, or two houses left to a more private area of the beach, virtually empty during the week. Looking North you can see downtown Virginia Beach, about 5 miles, and to the South is 20 miles of beach all the way to the Outer Banks..The entire front yard is gravel so we have ample off-street parking, one of the few houses in SB. In walking distance is SB Market with an excellent deli and amazingly extensive stock and Sandbridge Seaside Restaurant which consistently makes the top ten lists for Best of the Beach. Across the street is a Ben and Jerry's, and zero's Subs. Five miles south in SB is the SB fishing pier and tennis courts, with Baja Restaurant and jet ski rentals. A mile further is Back Bay Wildlife Refuge with miles of walking trails and guided tram tours several days a week. Spectacular bird life, especially in the Fall with large flocks of Snowy Geese and shorebirds over-wintering.. A half mile back on SB Road is SB Rentals which you passed on the way in, with surfboard, kayak, bike, and just about every household item for rent, as well as surfing lessons and guided kayak eco-tours.( If you need to rent any household items, call me first. I either already have it or will get it). Also on the way in on the left is Hell's Point Golf Club, one of the many public golf courses available in VB.
