Pelican Pier Beach House on Lake Catherine

Enjoy a Beach vacation inside the city limits of New Orleans! The “Pelican Pier Beach House” offers spectacular lake views, charming and unique white sand beach area, and wonderful 400-foot private fishing pier with a large covered pavilion and two docks on Lake St. Catherine. Enjoy great fishing and crabbing from the fishing pier, go kayaking or boating, go swimming, build a sandcastle or just relax on the white sand beach, in a comfy rocking chair or on one of the covered decks. Launch your own boat or wave runners at the nearby marina and tie them up at your private boat dock.

When it's time to go inside, enjoy the spacious and open living room, dining room and kitchen with spectacular views of Lake St. Catherine. Very large master bedroom with King bed and ensuite bath (sleeps 2). Guest bedroom with Queen bed (sleeps 2). Kid’s bedroom with twin bunkbeds (sleeps 4) includes a large closet stocked with toys. There is also a queen sofa-bed in the living room (sleeps 2).

Lake Catherine is the best of both worlds: Enjoy nature and sportsman's paradise with the family at the Lake house one day; party in the big city the next day. Only 40 minutes to downtown New Orleans or 15 minutes to Slidell.

This charming vacation property is fully stocked with a coffee station, paper products, everything you might need in the kitchen, and many outdoor amenities including BBQ grill, boiling pot, fishing and crabbing supplies, small jon boat, kayaks, rafts, and bait.

-Spacious 1800 sf house with 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms (with all new paint, furnishings and appliances)
-3 bedrooms – 6 beds – Sleeps 8 (plus sofa-bed)
-Private 400-foot fishing Pier with 16x24 covered pavilion, 12x24 fishing dock, and 4x36 boat dock on Lake St. Catherine (Pelican Pier)
-Charming and one-of-a-kind white sand beach to launch a kayak or jon boat, swim, build a sandcastle, or just relax (Flamingo Beach)
-Outdoor amenities include: 3 kayaks, life vests, 1 aluminum jon boat with paddles, inflatable rafts, fishing poles and tackle, crab nets, crab traps, seafood boiling system, propane BBQ grill, fish-cleaning table, underwater green fishing lights, beach toys, beach chairs, beach towels, picnic tables, deck furniture, benches, ice chests, folding tables, and cargo wagon.

Beautiful house, plenty to do for the whole family

Cathy was a great host- the house was just as beautiful as it looks online. Great location- a short drive into New Orleans, close to restaurants and swamp tours in Slidell. Our family loved exploring the area and spending time at the house fishing. We had a wonderful time!

Family, Kids, and Fishing Paradise

With a family wedding in New Orleans we decided to turn Pelican Peir into our official Spring Break and stayed for a week.... what a great week it was. We are a family of six with kids from 6 thru 11 and this home could not have been better... everything is so well thought out! The man made beach was a HUGE hit for the kiddos and we enjoyed many hours just hanging out in the sand. Our spring breaks are usually at the beach so we were very excited about this and it exceeded expectations. FISHING REPORT: There are several local bait shops (2 within 2 miles), but everyone seems to offer ONLY live shrimp. We began day 1 with the liesimp under a popping cork and landed nothing but catfish (still fun for the kids), but on my visit the water was stirred up so we switched to something with a little more scent.... FRESH CRABS. The house comes with about twenty crab nets that you can simply space out over the 400 ft dock. My 7yo son had the best time all weekend just running up amd down the dock, pulling up the nets, anf catching the crabs (store them in the crab pods). With the fresh blue crab we changed our fishing experiance. Casting straight out from the dock we caught 5 Black Drum in excess of 34", a tasty 26" Red Fish, and my youngest somehow landed a 44" Bull Red! There are six rod holders at the end of the dock... if you have crab out you will catch dum every morning and night (we did). My advice in March is to cast far and deep straight out into the lake... not to the side

Excellent time had by all

You’d be making a mistake by not choosing this VRBO - Kathy and Claudio have thought of absolutely everything for their property. The house is immaculate and has ALL items you’ll need at your home away from home. The pier is stocked with your needs for fishing right there including a live well to keep your bait shrimp and crabs alive after you’ve caught them. The beach is excellent to keep kiddos entertained and they also have sand toys. Coolers galore and an ice maker to make sure you never run out. We traveled with 2 kids, 4 and 8 and grandparents, best decision about the trip was to stay at the Pelican Pier Beach House!

Annual Family Gathering

Best time ever. Family Gathering. Lots of fish. Plenty crabs. Gathering, Cooking, grazing, kayaks, beautiful sunrises and just wholesome family time. This place is so beautiful yet comfortable for everyone from 2 years old to 72 years old. Something fun for everybody. Clean, spacious, beautifully furnished and loaded with amenities. Everything you need provided from fishing and crabbing equipment including bait, ice, gourmet coffee set up, paper products and even toiletries. Will be back soon.

Great quiet place for vacation

The owners succeeded in making the property a home away from home! The property is quiet and peaceful. But there is always something to do for every age. We loved the beach and swimming in the lake. The fishing was also wonderful. The owners provided so many amenities that we didn't have to pack a ton of things. In addition, they were prompt and friendly in answering any questions we had. We will certainly consider coming back and highly recommend it to family and friends that want to travel down that way.

Amazing Family Getaway - Perfection

We have stayed at several rentals in this area throught the years and this one is by far our favorite. This property is furnished with anything you might need, they have thought of it all and the pier and dock are the perfect spot for fishing, relaxing and taking in the beautiful sunrises and sunsets on the lake. We will be back and highly recommend the Pelican Pier house.

Everything was perfect

Our stay was everything we hoped it would be! House is well stocked, owner is amazing. We woke up the first day to the keurig not working and she came over the same day with a new one even though it was totally unnecessary. The dock is AMAZING and the owner provided everything to go fishing and crabbing. the kids were able to take the kayaks out with they loved. It’s a perfect location to be able to see the beauty of the city but relax when we needed to. Totally the best of both worlds. It’s out there kind of in the middle of nowhere, not a lot of shopping or food can be done without a bit of a trip but we assumed that would be the case in that area. The Wi-Fi is not great, but being that it’s a pretty secluded area and very windy, could have been related to that. For us, think it was a good thing as it got all the kids up and out. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay, we cannot wait till we have another opportunity to come.

This was a wonderful get away for the family. The place had everything we needed. The fishing dock was great and safe. The owners thought of everything. My kids caught a lot of fish and crab. Some big fish! It was a beautiful spot!

Absolutely perfect

This property was in my opinion perfect. It was very clean, the communication with the owner was effortless and it included everything you could possibly need to enjoy your stay. The pier is amazing. Everything you need to start having fun the moment you arrive is already there. Including bait for fishing and crabbing. The house is beautiful and even includes the little touches like travel toiletries in case you forgot something, and a Keurig bar with local treats. You can tell the owner takes great pride in the property. I highly recommend this property. I plan on returning again in the future!

2022 Christmas holidays at Pelican Pier Beach

My family and I had the most amazing time at the beach house. The owners are very accommodating and the nicest people you could meet. The home is spacious, clean and beautifully furnished . It is very scenic with views of the lake and and private beach. There is the most amazing pier for fishing, crabbing, or just watching the sunset. It has everything you would want. One of the best places for family gatherings . I would highly recommend to family and friends. This will become our annual local family gathering.

Nice lakefront house with an amazing pier!

Overall a great experience for my family of six adults staying 4 nights. Pelican beach house is clean and very well stocked. Kathy the property owner is very thoughtful, communicating well. House has 3 bed rooms with a nice open floor plan. Nice master bedroom with king size bed and private bathroom suite. One room with queen bed and other room has 4 bunk beds which is great if you have children. The house is thoughtful decorated and comes with all the supplies to give you the comfort of home. The outdoor space is amazing. We stay during the early Fall so could not enjoy the water activities as much due to colder weather. The super long pier is state of the art and has all the amenities for fishing and entertainment. Overall we enjoyed the Pelican lake house and hope to come back during the warmer months.
