About this property

The Gardener`s Bungalow is a fully self-contained water view cottage boasting prime location for relaxing ,reflection and just kicking back. The 750 sq. ft. cottage offers full kitchen, spacious washroom (en-suite) King bed in bedroom . Sat TV ,WiFi complementary barbecue and Hot Tub/Spa. Lake view (Brasd`or) where you`ll fall asleep to sound of the waves and watch eagles as they patrol the coastal vista in the morning sunrise. Take a leisurely stroll along the bay or simply follow the road to the center of the village (2km.) for shopping, cafe, dining, music or Museums. The Gardener`s Bungalow is set aside with it`s own private green space facing south east for great sunrises and to ensure privacy. Gardens surround the bungalow with guests adding there own creative care. Lobster boil pot available , golf ,fishing,whale watching and scenic Cabot Trail tours arranged by prior request. Daily light housekeeping included(subject to CV19).

The Gardener`s Bungalow Property:
Our property is situated in the village of Baddeck along the Baddeck Bay. We are a 2 mile walk/drive/bike to the center of the village. Which allows one to partake of the village`s many amenities yet escape from it`s summer bustle. Our property offers a central location for all adventures Cape Breton Island has to offer within easy access by foot or car. We are located on the World Famous Cabot Trail. The cottage has a simple bright and airy feel yet a touch of simple luxury at a easy budget. The full kitchen allows even the most budget minded to save hundreds in restaurant costs yet in a upscale historic setting. Our property is a historic one, overlooking the estate of Alexander Graham Bell and the bay his historic flight took place on. Our property was owned by his assistant, companion (McCurdy) and one of the founders of the National Geographic Society (George Kennan). Other deeded owners were Samual Cunard of the steamship fame. So if they liked it here I expect you will too

Lovely cottage with waterfront views

We absolutely loved our stay at this property. It was by far the highlight of our trip. We would recommend it to anyone who wants a central location to stay for several days at the base of the Cape Breton Island Cabot trailTrail.

A very quiet place, I would recommande any time.

Great location

We enjoyed our stay at this comfortable cottage. The location is great for checking out the Cabot Trail and the town of Baddeck offers a wonderful museum and good restaurants. John, the owner of the property offers an abundance of information about the area and it’s history.

Baddeck Cottage

The location was a short drive from the town. John gave great recommendations as to where to eat and what to see. We did not get check in instructions so we were unsure what to do but John responded quickly to our question.

Perfect for Exploring Cape Breton

We loved staying in the Garden Shed. It was very clean and had all the amenities we look for during our stays. Our host, John, was extremely knowledgeable about the area. Baddeck is a charming town and conveniently located to all of Cape Breton attractions. My only regret is that we did stay longer.

Hydrofoil Hanger unit

We actually stayed in the Hydrofoil Hanger unit at this property, not the cottage on this page. The unit we stayed in is exactly as it appears in its listing on VRBO. The vibe is simple and modern, open and airy. The unit had everything needed. The location can’t be beat, a few minutes drive to town and ideally situated for exploring Cape Breton. We loved the waterfront views and soaking in the hot tub after a day of driving and hiking. We would have liked a few more towels- we were supplied one bath and one beach towel each, and the towels did not dry completely between uses.

Cape Breton Getaway

My husband and I stayed at here as we explored the Cabot trail and the Cape Breton area. The location was perfect and John gave us many great ideas of things to do and places to eat. The little cottage was perfect for our vacation with a small kitchen with everything we needed to cook a few meals for ourselves. The bed was very comfortable.

A Baddeck Beauty

Our five night stay in Baddeck couldn’t have been more comfortable. Our beautiful and very well appointed two bedroom cottage overlooking the lake was so private and peaceful. Spotlessly clean and up to date; big bonuses included an efficient washer - dryer and a hot tub on the deck from whence to gaze at the stars above. Located close to the charming Baddeck center, this cottage is a great base for exploring the Cabot Trail and all of Cape Breton. Highly recommended.

Great time at the Gardiner's Cottage

This cottage had everything we needed. The bed was super comfortable with great pillows. Great shower too. Very quiet at night. The host, John, met us when we arrived and made a number of suggestion on places to go and restaurants to eat at. He was very friendly and helpful. All-in-all it was a perfect place for the two of us.

Charming modern cottage

Broadwater Inn's Garden Shed is a pleasant spacious cottage in a quiet part of Baddeck, which is a great base for the area. The cottage and hot tub have views across the road and past lakeside houses to Bras D'Or lake. The main building of the Inn (with reception for check-in) has historical associations; John is happy to talk about these and other local matters. Kitchen has a good range of appliances, but is light on utensils and workspace.

Great location for access to Cabot Trail

We stayed in this cottage for 4 nights. The location was great. Baddeck is a pretty little town and is at the beginning or end of the Cabot Trail. The cottage was nice and had a nice view of the water. The bathroom was excellent. It had was handicapped accessible and had two different sink areas. However, The kitchen had minimal cooking supplies. It would be difficult to cook a full meal in the kitchen. We only used it for breakfast.’

Great location for Cape Breton Island adventures!!

There is lots of local history to discover, great shops and a lovely waterfront in the town of Baddeck. Be aware that most of the shops close at 4pm and the hospital is not open on the weekend. Our initial check-in was delayed as the owner was not on the property when we arrived. But after making a phone call John quickly arrived. John is very knowledgeable about the Island and owns that best bakery on the island. Be sure to try the Porridge bread! We stayed in the Gardener's Shed. It was clean and offered us the basics of what we needed during our stay. My only criticism is that the outdoor furniture on the deck was in desperate need of repair and there is no where to sit and eat your meals outside. It would have been nice to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful view.

Fabulous spot

The Gardner’s Shed is a little piece of heaven! It is spacious, well-appointed, comfortable with everything needed for our stay. The hot tub was an additional bonus and very user-friendly with John’s clear instructions. House-keeping staff were efficient, attentive while respecting our privacy. Communication with John was excellent; he answers calls immediately , is most amicable and we would recommend his place to anyone! Thank you John & family!

Who Could Ask For More

This property has everything a traveller could desire. Conveniently located, lake view, great amenities including a functioning hot tub. The bed was comfortable and the cottage was well stocked and aesthetically pleasing. Communication with John, our host, was exceptional. John helped us plan our Cabot Trail sightseeing which eliminated a whole lot of stress from our vacation.
