About this property

SHADOW PINE LODGE 1925 OLD HUNTING LODGE.

Escape to Shadow Pine Lodge (RivCo STR# 71-352), our majestic 1925 former hunting lodge set high in the San Jacintos. Tree top expansive views as far as the eye can see. The main sleeping loft features a charming atmosphere with half bath and a deck in the trees. Enjoy morning coffee/tea or an afternoon glass of wine. The downstairs living room is anchored by a grand fireplace. There is a bunk room with two beds and a smaller open space with a daybed. Full kitchen and full bath complete the interior.

Rustic open floor plan allows for easy family entertaining or romantic getaway. Sunny nook off of living room with indoor hammock is perfect for afternoon reading or napping. Wood burning stove is the perfect touch for those cold mountain nights. Lodge also has A/C and heating via mini splits. Well stocked kitchen for whatever your tastebuds desire. Huge deck with stunning views features outdoor dining, BBQ, lounge chairs and inviting hot tub. Quick 10 minute run down the hill and you are in village of Idyllwild.

Guests will have the full access to the entire property. Please be aware this is the forest and there are critters that live here that may wander inside the fences.

We have tried to think of everything to make your stay as carefree and easy as possible. Contactless check in with keypad door lock. Host is available via text to assist you. In the unlikely event you do require onsite assistance we have a local representative available to help.

We're located in Pine Cove which is just over 3 miles up the road from the mountain hamlet of Idyllwild. Restaurants, bars shops and a movie theatre are a 10 minute run down the hill. World class hiking is minutes away. From an easy out and back stroll to linking up with the Pacific Coast Trail or getting to the peak of San Jacinto there is a hike for every skill level.

The cabin is located on a privately maintained road. During the winter the snow plows do not run on a regular schedule.

Access to the Lodge is via a trail/pathway that winds up from the parking area. Folks with mobility issues may find it challenging to navigate (especially during winter months if there is snow) and we strongly recommend checking with us if you have any questions or concerns prior to booking.

PineCove Water District requires the water to be shut off when the property is not being occupied. You will receive detailed instructions in your check in email regarding how to turn the water on and off at completion of your stay.

There is no curbside trash pick up in Idyllwild/PineCove. We ask that guests take all trash generated during their stay to the County Transfer Station for disposal. You will be given detailed instruction in your check-out memo. Transfer Station is located about 15 minutes from the lodge. Please ask if you have any questions or concerns.

For guests and owners safety there are 2 video surveillance cameras operating on the exterior of property. One aimed towards the approach to the lodge from the parking area and one directly towards the front door that is active with video and photo capture. 1925 Lodge

We loved staying at The Lodge. Very cozy, clean, and welcoming. Just a short drive to Idyllwild and hiking trails. We enjoyed the sunrise as we sat drinking coffee, chatting by the fire in the incredibly hot fire stove. The beds were super comfortable. We even had robes to wear to the hot tub. Thank you Alex for being available for questions. You are the best host!!

Great place to relax

We had an absolutely fantastic time staying at the cabin. The communication with the host was outstanding. The cabin was very cozy and clean. Enjoyed the beautiful views from the deck. Expect a bit of a hike from your car to the cabin.

The views are stunning. The cabin has everything you need . The location is private. Be prepared to walk your belongings up a pathway to cabin. Owners are just a text away for any questions . We’ll definitely stay again

Great Cabin Home in a Really Special Location.

The house itself is fantastic. Clean, cozy, and well-stocked with most basic items that you would need. The highlight of the cabin is the deck which is an excellent social space. Plenty of seating options. Did not get a chance to use the hot tub but it is a great feature as well. I loved sitting out in the morning with a cup of coffee and reading the photo history book of the area that was sitting next to the fireplace in the mornings. That brings me to the location. Holy cow. The views in the photos already looked great but we were not prepared for the absolute stunning beauty of the panoramic vistas that you can see from the cabin and the deck. I would go so far as to compare it to something you might see in Yosemite but right here in the Inland Empire. You absolutely must brave the cold nights to get a fantastic look at the stars. You’re close to Idyllwild town. Alex is excellent with communication and the setting is magic. The roads are a little dicey if you’re not used to mountain driving and the hike up to the house is a bit of a challenge while carrying bags and heavy items but it’s all worth it. You really cannot go wrong.

Definitely tucked away! But adorable area!

The hosts were super nice and accommodating! We were able to check in early which was great. The property was cute. The hot tub was nice to have. We really enjoyed the wood burning stove. Upstairs loft has low ceilings so be careful going up/down stairs and using the upstairs bathroom (it’s very tiny). Overall we enjoyed the stay a lot and the cooler Weather on the holiday! Only major downfall is that The entrance was more of a trek than expected. There is no real clear path, but up the side of an unkept hill. We had a ton of stuff so it was pretty inconvenient to get it all up and down. The info about this is at the very bottom of the listing, wish it would’ve been more upfront

Hidden gem.

I have to start with mentioning how exceptional the owners of the property are. They are kind, thoughtful, detailed and unbelievably responsive. The lodge was perfect for my weekend getaway. It is charming, cozy and current all at the same time. All necessary kitchen appliances, bathroom fixtures, etc. are newer so you have all you need. They have added so many thoughtful touches, that enhanced my stay, that I truly felt cared about. I was able to bring my dog and they cared about him just as much. They even have extra dog beds if needed! The view. You have to see it for yourself. Sunrise, sunset or watching the stars in the sky from the hot tub will leave you and and grateful. I can't wait to go back.

idyllic Idyllwild

We came up for the tree lighting ceremony and it was a perfect spot! The lit trees in town were visible from the cabin, such a beautiful view! It is definitely an older cabin but the bathrooms were redone nicely and the kitchen has updated appliances. The hosts were super responsive. The walk up to the cabin from the parking is a little steep if you are old and feeble it may be difficult however it added so much fun for us! waking up in the loft with that view is amazing!
