Falls Lake Resort is in the small rural town of Vaughan, just south of Windsor, NS.
It is a quiet, private community located on Falls Lake. Only owners and their guests are allowed into the resort. There is a community beach just north of our cabin which is great for small children and dogs to play on. The roads within the resort are ideal for walking around to explore the community. There is also a boat launch just a few meters south of our property if you wish to bring your own watercraft. The dock has cleats to attach watercraft to so you can park them right in front of the cabin.
The area is also is a great location for road tripping to many places in the Nova Scotia.

There is a general store/ gas station 1.7 km down the road to the east. They stock most basic necessities, a few groceries, and also have a liquor store. They have both regular gas and diesel. They also serve ice cream. There is a bait and tackle shop beside it as well as a seasonal take out place.
Ross Farm Museum is just over 20 mins away. They are open year round and offer a glimpse into the way of life back in the 1800’s. They have farm animals and horse drawn carriage rides.
Sherwood Golf & Country Club is 20 mins away. There are 18 holes and you can rent carts and golf clubs.
Bent Nail Winery is 15 mins away. They have pizza, pasta and appetizers and make their own wine and beer on site.
Oulton's Meats is 20 mins away. They sell fresh meat from their farm. They can do just about any cut or type of meat you desire. They also have a free agri-zoo that you can tour which has many domestic and exotic animals.

You will need you own car to get around. There are no public transportation or taxi services nearby.
Absolutely no parties or events. This is a beautiful, quiet part of the world, so please be respectful towards the neighbors and keep the noise down, especially between 10 pm and 7 am. There are noise monitors inside and outside (these record noise levels, not dialogue) as well as a security camera overlooking the driveway.

This is a smoke-free home. Please do not smoke or vape in the house, hot tub, decks, or on the outside furniture. If you smoke or vape outside, please clean up after yourself and make sure all butts etc. are fully extinguished before disposal. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Firewood is not included but is available for purchase the store nearby. Do not take wood from neighbouring properties. My neighbours have cameras installed to monitor their properties.

Before the firepit is used, the burn restrictions must be checked. No fires are allowed before 2pm on any day.

No extra guests without prior consent from host.

All adults staying at the property must read the house rules and manual prior to their stay.

No diving off dock, the water is too shallow.

It is essential that all waste is sorted, bagged and disposed in the proper location. There is camera surveillance of the garbage disposal area to ensure it is done correctly. Detailed instructions are given and must be adhered to to avoid wildlife getting into the bags and to avoid rejection by the waste management company.

Since the property is on a septic system, please be mindful of what you put down the drains and toilets. Generally speaking, only stuff that comes out of you and toilet paper is safe to flush (do not dispose of any hazardous chemicals, plastics or wet wipes as they will either clog or mess with the chemistry of the system). Also make sure that any toilet paper you have is septic safe (usually labelled on the package). Failure to do so could result in a backup of sewage into the house.

Do not use the wash clothes to remove makeup or mascara. Use disposable pads for this and please dispose of these in the garbage.

Please remove shoes upon entering.

Pet Policy
Pets are allowed for a fee of $50 per stay. Guests are responsible for keeping their pets under control at all times and to clean up after them. When you bring your pet along I kindly ask that you adhere to a few simple rules during your visit. This way, I can continue to operate as a pet-friendly retreat in the future.
1)Please keep your pets off the furniture at all times, so that other visitors coming after you won’t have to contend with potential pet odors. If, however, your pet insists on hopping up, please make sure you cover all bedding and furniture with blankets and sheets brought from home.
2)Pets must be under the care and control of their owners at all times. Per the Falls Lake Resort bylaws all pets must be on leash when outdoors.
3)Pets must not be left alone inside the cottage for extended periods.
4)Per Falls Lake Resort bylaws you must keep your pet from barking or making noise incessantly.
5)Please clean up after your pets.
6)All pets must be up-to-date with all necessary shots, flea, and tick treatments.

Fantastic Cabin

Very comfortable cabin with everything we needed! We loved how clean it was, how nice the pillows and beds were, the wireless phone chargers that were in each room, and the beautiful sunsets on the lake! We found all of the implements we needed to cook in the kitchen and really appreciated the great communication from the host! We will definitely be back!

Nice Relaxing Retreat

We spent a few days here and enjoyed every minute of it. From kayaking on the lake to swimming, enjoying a fire and reading on the dock in the early morning with a great cup of tea. It was really peaceful. Not to mention relaxing in the hot tub. It was exactly what we needed to recharge our batteries. The cottage offered everything we needed plus more. I would totally book this cottage again.

A calm and wonderful stay

We spent a few days with our dog. The cottage is great and location perfect to visit surrounding. The resort is calm and neirbhours are quiet. Although it is to notice that the houses are very close one to another and they all have their dogs too. I would recommend with no hesitation!

The perfect lake vacation

An absolutely wonderful cottage in a beautiful setting. The kitchen has everything you need and the beds are comfortable. We enjoyed swimming and kayaking, lounging in the hot tub, stargazing and cozy campfires at night. Neighbours are very quiet.

Beautiful Cottage

Our family had a great time during our stay! It was a nice place to take the kids during March break, with Martock being so close. The hot tub was a hit and the cottage was warm and cozy, bonus points for the lake view. Can’t wait to book again and enjoy the summer months.

Great weekend away

Beautiful property and excellent accommodations. However, we could not get the Pellet fire to work. Hopefully this issue is resolved before the next guests.

Year round gem!

My sister and I brought our kids for March Break. It is a BEAUTIFUL location, the ducks and sunset greeted us at the pristine lake, the stars above were lovely later as we enjoyed the large, clean hot tub. We skied at Martock (only 10 mins away), spent a day in Halifax (less than an hour away) and enjoyed family time playing games, reading, watching movies. Brendan was an excellent host, everything you need is provided, and the beds are comfortable. We were 6 and had lots of space. Highly recommend this gem any time of year, we would return for sure.

Magical Lake Retreat

The pictures and listing truly do not do this property justice! When we arrived the sun was setting over Falls Lake & everything was bathed in orange light ☀️🧡 It was stunning! It's a semi remote location but very quiet and peaceful and also a great central spot for day trips through Nova Scotia including Wolfville, Peggy's Cove & Windsor. The bed was very comfortable, the house stocked with everything you need & the amenities including washer/dryer, fire pit, hot tub, grill etc were all great!

Seniors getaway

Beautiful location. Nicely appointed cabin although much smaller than expected. Cleanliness a bit of an issue, but reported to host. We had an issue with lack of WIFI so no TV. Hot tub was beautiful and clean. Grounds clean. Would be beautiful in Summer, right on the lake front. We did enjoy our stay.

Do not recommend

I have always stayed on falls lake, unfortunately our regular cabin was not available. We booked this one based on the pellet stove pictured and listed as an amenity. I have a chronic illness and was looking for somewhere cozy. When we arrived, the cabin was freezing- I couldn't take my jacket off- I asked my husband to turn on the pellet stove, he checked the Manuel and it stated the stove was broken - this was not mentioned on the site. I contacted the owner and not only was it broken, it had been broke for the past two years. And in that time it was never fixed or removed from the listing. There were heat pumps and baseboard heaters but it would not get up past 17 degrees - I was offered 100 dollars for the 'honest mistake ' but I refused to stay. I called VRBO and they arranged a full refund stating this was falsely advertised. It's pet friendly - and the couches smelled strongly of dogs - I had brought my Yorkie along with a blanket so he wouldn't be directly on the furniture. If you are going to charge extra for a dog, it should not smell of dogs when you arrive. It was my birthday trip and like I mentioned I have a chronic illness so I was really looking forward to it.Instead we went directly home, I felt our gas should have been covered after booking under false pretenses but nothing was offered even when I brought it up.I would never recommend properties rented from this host.
