Beautiful Lanakai
This is the 2nd time we have stayed in this group of houses. Gina is an outstanding, responsive host. This location is unmatched with the exclusive beach and gorgeous views. While the weather wasn’t great, the ocean breezes and view will continue to give us memories for a lifetime.

Hale Kolea was a Great Choice!
After much research we chose Hale Kolea for our once-every-three year family trip to Hawaii. Our extended family group of adults and teens loved the house and the location. The view of the Mokulua’s is breathtaking! There is wonderful communal space, but also space for all to spread out and have their own quiet time. Each bedroom —except one— had a private bath and lanai. There are two kitchens and an extra refrigerator in the 2-car garage - which is very helpful with a full household. There two sets of washer/dryers and detergent supplies are provided. For those individuals who might expect everything to be brand new (not us by a long shot) may find parts of the late 1980’s house reflective of that period. Everything worked great for us! Gina is in the process of updating bathrooms (ours in the main floor master bedroom had a lovely modern double shower and soaking tub). The house being on the hillside requires walking down a relatively long and steep flight of stairs to “our beach” which is fine for most but might be an issue for anyone with knee or hip issues. Being within a gated area the gentle sandy beach had a nearly private feel. We were delighted to see sea turtles swimming every day in the tranquil crystal clear azure waters close to the shoreline. Gina was a most gracious host. She offered to assist us with recreational activities, grocery shopping and entertainment opportunities. Gina did everything possible to make our stay happy and memorable. Our next family trip to Lanikai will most certainly be at Hale Kolea! Mahalo Gina!

Great for a "Boys" Week!
I spent a week here celebrating my 50th birthday with four close friends. It was ideal. Sitting or dining outside to mind-boggling views was blissful. Five of the rooms had their own dedicated bathrooms. The kitchen was large and well supplied and we wound up cooking more than I'd thought we would. The small beach below the house is shared with a small number of homes and was largely empty whenever we went. There are things to be aware of. The home is situated on a steep hillside, so the bedrooms are split across three floors. Additionally, the walk to the beach is down a flight of steep stairs. So this it not the house for anyone mobility impaired or injured. The hot tub on the deck gets quite toasty, but can't really fit more than three full-sized males comfortably. Finally, the house has it's fair share of light switches that seemingly do nothing, but I've found that in other houses in Hawaii. My primary complaint was with the shower in the primary room. The floor appeared kind of gross and seemed to be peeling. Sure enough, during my first shower, I noticed a quarter-sized piece of "paint" floating to the drain. From what I could figure out, I think someone decided to paint the floor with a type of rubberized paint rather than replacing it. While functional, that entire bathroom could stand to be remodeled. So aside from a few caveats and minor issues, the house is an ideal place to have a gathering of adults.

Exceptional Property for R&R
We were so pleased with this property and our stay there, I wanted to send on behalf of our group a huge Mahalo to Gina and everyone who works to provide such nice accommodations at Hale Kolea. There is nothing that can beat the gorgeous view of the ocean from house and the lush, peaceful surroundings -- I will always have fond memories of our vacation and falling asleep listening to the waves hit the beach. The beach just down the stairs from the house was practically all our own. There's also a quiet grassy area next to the beach entrance to practice meditation, yoga or to just lay around. The only important note that I wanted to add was that the 6th bedroom is more like a servant's quarters - it did not have its own view of the ocean, access to the balcony, en suite bathroom or a t.v. like the others. Just wanted to share in case there are six adults or couples expecting to have similar bedroom accommodations.

This house was amazing! We had 6 couples & 1 child. The rooms and views were amazing and each room having it's own bathroom was a plus. The beach was a blast. Gina thought of everything and the family agreed the house & private beach made our vacation and we will be back!

Amazing property in a perfect location!
Our family of 8 plus grand-baby had the most wonderful time here! We loved being right on the water with a practically private beach just down the stairs--so convenient for enjoying the ocean without having to pack everything up. The house is gorgeous with stunning views from literally every window. The living areas (lots of these!), kitchen, bedrooms, and bathrooms are huge and immaculate. Beautiful hot tub, multiple decks, tons of chairs, I could go on and on and on. Gina is fantastic, so responsive to our every question and need (we asked for a pack and play, and it showed up on our doorstep within minutes). I HIGHLY recommend this property!

Lovely home, excellent location, perfect for larger groups
This is a lovely, large home perfectly perched on the hillside overlooking a private beach shared with only a few other homes. We were here with extended family and it worked great! No fussing over parking (which is hard to come by for Lanikai and Kailua beaches!) and the beach and water are perfect. The kitchen is well-equipped and Gina is fast to respond to any questions or concerns. It's a 10-20 minute drive (depending on traffic) into Kailua for restaurants and shopping. The strong winds made paddling to the islands too difficult, but on a calmer day that would be wonderful. The house has multiple common areas, so everyone can be together or scatter to have some privacy. East-facing, so no sunsets or sunrises (that's behind the hill), and the patio is in the shade in the afternoons. But the stars are magnificent.

Paradise in Hawaii
We have rented many vacation homes for our family vacation but this is one of our favorites for many reasons: The sunrises were spectacular and so very different every morning that it was worth getting up at the crack of dawn. The views from 5 bedrooms were magnificent. The special touches that Gina provided us: Malie organic body wash, shampoo and conditioner in every bathroom... Boogie boards and beach toys for the private beach... In-case-of-emergency lists on what to do.... Kitchen was well stocked And this was the 1st time that I did not have to go to the store for paper goods like toilet paper, paper towels, napkins... Gina arranged for us to have 4 kayaks for a week and arranged a guide to take us out to the Mokulua Islands. Our kids and grand-kids especially enjoyed hiking to the Queen's Bath and jumping in. If was a perfect vacation for all ages - from our youngest grandson (10 years) to my husband and me (73 years) Thank you Gina for being there for us and hope to see you again. Kathy K

Great location with plenty of space!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this home. There was plenty of space for our large group. The private beach was also a huge plus. The home doesn’t have air conditioning so during the daytime it can be a little stuffy inside. However at nighttime with fans going we all slept very well. It was also very clean and well taken care of.

Memorable 50th Anniversary Celebration
Our family group of 11 (2 grandparents, 4 parents and 5 grandsons ages 5-13) gathered to celebrate a 50th wedding anniversary in Lanikia. The moment we arrived the boys were beyond excited to see the koi pond in the front, the incredible view of the beach/ocean from almost every room in the house and explore the spacious three story layout (great for hide and seek)! It was so relaxing to wake up to the sound of the ocean, a beautiful sunrise and the trade winds blowing in to keep everything comfortable. Having the lawn area and the beach out front was perfect but even more so was the convenient location to more beaches for snorkeling and boogie boarding and shops for shave ice (Island Snow), Foodland (spicy tuna poke with avocado on a futikaki shrimp chip) grocery store, Boot’s and Kimo for macadamia nut pancakes and Target. The area has a charm of its own and is less hectic and crowded than the Honolulu area. The house could use a bit of updating but is very comfortable. We did have repair issues (reason for the 4 instead of 5 stars) but Gina (the property manager) was super responsive and the owner very fair and accommodating to our concerns. We would definitely rent either this property (hopefully with some updating) or another property from them again. Their customer care was exceptional.

Vacation in Paradise
The house is even better than the pictures! And the view is unbelievable, words can describe it . You have to see it first hand to believe. My family of 8 adults and 3 kids under 5 had plenty of room during the day and enough bedrooms so that everyone had a sound sleep. With the beach right down the steps and so much room to roam in the house we did not need to leave the house everyday to enjoy our vacation. Gina is a delight to deal with and made us feel very comfortable.
