Located in the heart of the Poconos, where the PA Turnpike (NE Ext) and Interstate 80 intersect, we are an easy 1.5 hour drive from Philadelphia, New York and New Jersey. Nestled in the woods adjacent to the Lehigh Gorge State Park and the Lehigh River, you are surrounded by nature for biking, walking, hiking, fishing , white water rafting, golf, skiing, paintball, zip lining and so much more!

Our charming Log Cabin home sits on 2 private acres in the woods in the Poconos on the Lehigh River. You will enjoy relaxing on our huge deck overlooking the river & bike path! Watch and hear the Lehigh River rapids from the deck or hike directly to them. Bring your bicycles as our Pocono Log Cabin sits on the Lehigh Gorge State Park and ride 26 miles from end to end (White Haven to Jim Thorpe). Enjoy a picnic lunch, views of the river and many waterfalls along the way!

The cabin also has a wood-burning fireplace in the living room, a Jacuzzi tub in master bath, a Pool Table and Bar in our finished basement and an outdoor fire pit and charcoal grills!

Most of the rental houses in the Poconos are located in housing developments controlled by Homeowner Association. Our cabin is NOT in a development! We have no neighbors worried about you, ready to report you. You will feel secluded in the woods, but you are also just a mile from town for all the things you might need. We are one of just a couple log cabins located on the Lehigh Gorge State Park & Lehigh River.

Activities:
Lehigh River Gorge Trail is just steps away from our cabin - it's perfect for walking, biking, fishing, tubing, and rafting.

Lehigh Gorge State Park: Lehigh Gorge State Park contains 4,548 acres of land and about 30 miles of the Lehigh River. Recreational opportunities include: hiking, biking, hunting, fishing, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, and whitewater boating. About 26 miles of abandoned railroad grade follow the river and are available to hiking and biking and provide access for hunting and fishing. Whitewater rafting is a major attraction of the park. This section of the Lehigh River is Class III whitewater and is popular for rafting, kayaking and canoeing. The rafters can be seen and heard from our deck!

Hickory Run State Park: (across the river from our cabin, approx 2 miles away) The 15,500-acre Hickory Run State Park, has over 40 miles of hiking trails, three state park natural areas and miles of trout streams. You must visit Boulder Field, a striking boulder-strewn area which formed 15,000 years ago! It is a National Natural Landmark.
We recommend our guests plan a day of swimming at their lake. It has a sand beach and concession areas, bathrooms and bar-b-q areas. It is open from late-May to mid-September.

Fishing:
The Lehigh River has warm-water game fish, trout and panfish. You can walk to the river from the house! Francis E. Walter Dam, just above White Haven, provides boating and angling for trout and warm-water game fish. All local State Parks have lakes & streams for fishing.

Perfect location!!

We really loved this property and it was something I had been hoping to find for our family gathering. I would recommend it for family and can see how adult parties/friends would be able to enjoy the location and privacy as well, with flexibility of not being in a gated type community. The surroundings and outdoor area was really a favorite, though we mostly stayed in. We enjoyed our morning exploring the trail and river walk right behind the cabin. Working with the hosts was wonderful - with no issue and quick responses. The listing is as described, though agree the pool table has seen better days, but it was no worry for us. Though we managed fine and were very comfortable as a bigger group of 15, it would have been great to utilize the outdoor decks for dining in the warmer months, as the indoor dining couldn't quite seat us all at once. But that wasn't a concern, and we still enjoyed a beautiful birthday celebration for my young daughter! Would come again.

Family Bachelor/Bachelorette Party

We loved the seclusion. Did feel it needs more parking for a large group as we couldnt car pool as much as we would've like. The pictures are definitely a good representation of the house. Only problem we really had were ants. We had brought donuts and they were in a box inside a bag and in the pantry.Next morning a ton of ants! We would absolutely stay here again. Great communication as well.

Perfect for Bachelor party

I rented the fat rabbit for my brothers bachelor party and it was an all around great experience. Everyone could not stop raving about how perfect the cabin was for our group. There was plenty of room for our group of 12 to sleep and the cabin itself has so much to offer. You feel super secluded like your tucked away in the mountains. The host was excellent and offered so much help with planning the weekend. Any concerns or questions we may have had about the cabin or near by experiences they had endless recommendations. It’s allowed for a relaxed weekend. I would recommend to any group looking for weekend getaway.

Wonderful Family Vacation

This was our family’s first trip to the Pocono Mountains and we loved it! We had kids from 3 months to 10 years old, and there was something for everyone. The location of the cabin was wonderful — close to many of the attractions (Hickory State Park, Boulder Field, Shades of Death). Lisa and Lance’s cabin was gorgeous, the big decks off the back of the house provided so much space for games and hanging out. The layout of the house worked out well for us too. Each family had a bedroom and we still had plenty of room leftover (We had 12 adults and 7 kids). Lisa was great at communicating with me and was always available and friendly. Just be aware that there is not really a yard and the “walk” down to the river is quite steep even for us adults but our kids could get down there with our help. The cabin could also use a good floor cleaning. Again, we had a great time and would recommend the cabin to anyone!

Perfect cozy cabin for our family trip

We booked The Fat Rabbit for a surprise 60th celebration with our family - group of 13. The cabin was perfect! We’ll stocked with lots of different spots to spread out and all hang together (fire pit, back deck, basement, main living area). Lisa was a fantastic host - great communication both before and during our stay. Thanks for making our Pocono stay such a hit!

Amazing Location

My family, my brother’s family, and in-laws stayed at Fat Rabbit. Communication with Lisa was phenomenal. We planned on doing the family rafting trip but Hurricane Henri had other plans. Lisa refunded the money for our rafting tickets immediately. We had a great time regardless of Henri. One day, we walked left down the rail trail and ended up in White Haven in less than a mile. The kids were excited to happen upon an ice cream shop before our walk back. We spent the next day in Jim Thorpe. The scenic railroad ride is not to be missed. Fat Rabbit is a great location with great amenities. All enjoyed the amenities…jacuzzi was amazing, the covered deck was so relaxing, fire pit was such a great place to make memories. We hope to stay at this or one of Lisa and Lance’s amazing properties in the future!

Impressive cabin in a great setting to chill, grill and enjoy time around campfire. We loved the upper outdoor deck. Plenty nearby to do. Pocono Vacation

The property was just as described. Our group had 8 adults and 6 kids (ages 3-16). We had plenty of room in the cabin. There was a small creek with a 5’- 6’ high waterfall which we could jump from into a swimming hole. It was about 1/4-1/2 mile walk from the cabin. There were a couple of great state parks within a 15-20 minute drive from the cabin. The owners were extremely friendly, helpful and very responsive. I would definitely recommend this cabin or their other cabins nearby!

Wonderful Family Vacation

This property allows for a serene change of scenery, yet conveniently located to experience all the Poconos has to offer. The cabin was cozy, but my family had their own space. The porch is perfect for morning coffee or a late-night drink. The kitchen is stocked with plenty of cooking supplies, utensils, and the layout is perfect for families. The wilderness at it’s best! We spotted a baby bear and roasted marshmallows in the convenient fire pit. We hope to make this an annual tradition.

About the host

Host profile image
This is our home away from home. Living just 1.5 hours away lets us run to our cabin in the Poconos all the time for a quick get-away of outdoor activity. We love riding our bikes on the bike path & fishing!

Why they chose this property

We bought this Pocono log cabin because we wanted a place close enough to drive to easily, we specifically wanted a log cabin, on a river, fishing and biking - this cabin had all we wanted and more! We grew up skiing at Jack Frost & Big Boulder so it's amazing to have a cabin so close! And the best restaurant in the Poconos is right across the street!

What makes this property unique

Most of the rental houses in the Poconos are located in housing developments controlled by Homeowner Association. Our cabin is NOT in a development! We have no neighbors worried about you, ready to report you. You will feel secluded in the woods, but you are also just a mile from town for all the things you might need. We are one of just a couple log cabins located on the Lehigh Gorge State Park & Lehigh River.

Our cabin has a short path down to the Lehigh Gorge State Park bike path and the Lehigh River. We pack a lunch and head out for a long bike ride every day we're there. White water rafting groups ride the river right in front of our cabin! Hickory Run State Park is also right across the river for summer swimming and hiking. The closest golf course, Mountain Laurel, is just 2 miles away across the river. Paintball and Zip Lining courses are just a short drive away. In the winter the bike path is great for cross country skiing, snow shoeing and snowmobiling and several ski mountains are a short drive away (Jack Frost, Big Boulder, Camelback, Blue, and Montage). It's truly a year-round vacation destination! We love it all year 'round!
