Peacefully beautiful night sky
Our stay was everything we wanted. A break from our busy lives, with some small town fun to keep us interested. The Grist Mill (on the property) is super cool to tour with host Kathey, who is wonderful.

Lovely Little Place to Stay
My husband and I needed an affordable and cozy spot to stop midway from Portland to Reno and that is exactly what we got. The cottage had everything we could have needed for a quick night and the bed was extremely comfortable even though we usually prefer a king. We hope to have time to stay a couple of nights in the future when we need to unplug from the city! PS - we loved seeing the rainbow flag in the yard, made us feel comfortable!

A Lovely Cottage
The cottage is so beautiful; the host has obviously put much care into its ambiance, so many thoughtful kitchen and other items (even dog bowls and treats!), lovely decorations and squeaky clean! She gave us a tour of the yet-to-be restored but grain meal next door…it was fascinating!

WONDERFUL!!!
Super cute property, set up really well for guests, many lovely rustic touches, easiest check in/check out process ever, quiet, clean, beautiful views - especially the sunset over the lake. My only hesitation in giving a good review is that others might find this treasure and it will be all booked up the next time I'm in town!

Beautiful, quiet, dark skies!
My husband and I (and Lucy the Lab) loved loved LOVED our stay at the State Line Mill Guest House. We really enjoyed the comfortable amenities inside (very well-stocked) as well as the gorgeous, natural setting outside. Right from the property, we were able to clearly view celestial sights like Mars, Saturn and its rings, Jupiter and its storms, Andromeda, and details on the moon. It was just stunning. We adored the sounds of cows and roosters in the distance, and just the overall atmosphere of the property. We 100% highly recommend State Line Mill Guesthouse to couples or very small families traveling through the area.

Fascinating!
The rustic character of the Guesthouse really appealed to us. It's very private, and the view is terrific! Kathey was kind enough to give us a tour of the 1888 grist mill, which was fascinating! We could have spent more time there poking around, but we'll have to make another (maybe two, three) trips to take it all in. Wonderful stay!

Unique, historical, and fun experience
Had a great President's Day weekend staying here. Comfortable and cozy. Very well thought out details and amenities. Very clean and quiet. Stars at night are amazing. Personal tour of the mill was unique and a great insight to history of the area. Close to Lakeview and Warner Canyon Ski area. Definitely would highly recommend.

Wonderful spot
I only stayed one night (unfortunately), but it was the perfect spot for me and my golden retriever puppy. The guest house is very comfortable, and Kathey has provided lots of little extras to make you feel very welcome - like puppy towels and snacks. And the yard is fenced so my puppy could run free and burn excess energy from the long car ride. I have no hesitation in recommending this guest house. Thank you Kathey!

Sweet Country Cabin
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this sweet little cabin. The beds were incredibly comfortable and the hostess was super easy to communicate with. She kept us updated on the weather as it was a bit snowy at the time. The kids and I drove over to the State Park and were rewarded with thousands, yes thousands, of geese in flight. It was amazing. Overall a great stay. It had everything we needed and then some. We will be back!

Lovely Cottage for Travel
I stumbled upon this cottage as I was looking for a halfway point between Idaho and California for our travels that allowed animals (dogs and cats), privacy, and security. The cottage was very cute and included everything we needed for our stay - minus a tv - but there were more than enough games and puzzles to do if you wanted to do something fun. It was very cozy and warm during our winter stay. Kathey really thought of everything from the kitchen to the bathroom to the bedroom to make our stay comfortable. This is definitely a place I will be returning to if we need a place to stay during our travels.

Nice setting
This cabin was excellent for my needs during a 2 day stay, everything I needed plus a bit of laundry done for me on last day there! I did encounter some flies that came out of hibernation as the cabin warmed up but no big deal with the help of a fly swatter. The area was quiet and centrally-located in very scenic areas of California/ Oregon/Nevada border. This would be a great couples place to stay or solo, as my trip happened to be. This is at the foot of a mountain range and the moonrise over the mountain the first night there was awesome from the cozy little cabin home!

About the host

Hosted by Kathey Delaney

Host profile image
Hello. I'm Kathey, your hostess. I am a retired healthcare worker with goals towards building a sustainable, permaculture-based homestead. I also dabble in furniture refinishing, voice acting, and one day hope to own dairy goats. My better half is Chris, a paramedic for Lake County EMS. We believe our guesthouse is the perfect place to disconnect from the world a little. An off-the-beaten-path getaway full of cozy comfort, quiet, star-filled nights, and a little old-fashioned fun.

Why they chose this property

The property is 4 acres of sagebrush land on the slopes of the Warner Mountain foothills, in the largest, International Dark Sky Sanctuary. We sit twenty minutes from Lakeview, OR, and twenty minutes from the southern end of the Oregon Timber Trail. Our guesthouse was once the gas station for Fairport, OR, and has been painstakingly updated with modern facilities while keeping it's quaint, vintage feel. Views from our land never cease to amaze, regardless of the season; day or night. We have multiple, old outbuildings that are perfect for painting, sketching or photographing. The most interesting of these is an historic grist mill built in1871 (non-operational). Come, sit under our old apple tree. Relax and enjoy the view.
