Off the beaten path, this lovely small cabin has everything you need. Great views of the sky - beautiful cloud formations, great sunsets, lots of stars. If you’re looking for comfortable solitude, this is the place.

Amazing!
We absolutely loved this sweet little hideaway! Beautiful views, peaceful, very comfortable and well equipped. We could have stayed for days. Kathy was awesome and we loved having the pups around. Will return in the future! Highly recommend!

Nice setting
This cabin was excellent for my needs during a 2 day stay, everything I needed plus a bit of laundry done for me on last day there! I did encounter some flies that came out of hibernation as the cabin warmed up but no big deal with the help of a fly swatter. The area was quiet and centrally-located in very scenic areas of California/ Oregon/Nevada border. This would be a great couples place to stay or solo, as my trip happened to be. This is at the foot of a mountain range and the moonrise over the mountain the first night there was awesome from the cozy little cabin home!

Comfortable and perfect for our needs
Warm, welcoming, and user-friendly. Beautiful setting, well appointed, and easy to access. Three children and one adult, we had everything we needed. Will be our go-to place when visiting family and friends in the future.

About the host

Host profile image
Hello. I'm Kathey, your hostess. I am a retired healthcare worker with goals towards building a sustainable, permaculture-based homestead. I also dabble in furniture refinishing, voice acting, and one day hope to own dairy goats. My better half is Chris, a paramedic for Lake County EMS. We believe our guesthouse is the perfect place to disconnect from the world a little. An off-the-beaten-path getaway full of cozy comfort, quiet, star-filled nights, and a little old-fashioned fun.

Why they chose this property

The property is 4 acres of sagebrush land on the slopes of the Warner Mountain foothills, in the largest, International Dark Sky Sanctuary. We sit twenty minutes from Lakeview, OR, and twenty minutes from the southern end of the Oregon Timber Trail. Our guesthouse was once the gas station for Fairport, OR, and has been painstakingly updated with modern facilities while keeping it's quaint, vintage feel. Views from our land never cease to amaze, regardless of the season; day or night. We have multiple, old outbuildings that are perfect for painting, sketching or photographing. The most interesting of these is an historic grist mill built in1871 (non-operational). Come, sit under our old apple tree. Relax and enjoy the view.
