About this property

As soon as you step in the door of this ground level condominium, you've begun to relax. The large picture window with views of both the river and the ocean, and the shoreline of Monterey in the distance, are always visible from the living area (open style living room, a kitchen and dining room).

READ THE REVIEWS FROM OUR PREVIOUS GUESTS... THEY DESCRIBE PELICAN 75 BETTER THAN WE CAN!!!! (You'll notice that our location is one of the most frequently mentioned features of where we are in Pajaro Dunes.)

From the 2 sofas in the living room you can read peacefully, light a fire (on cool nights or in the winter), or watch a movie.
If you chose to cook, you don't have to be away from the outdoor views and can enjoy a fully-equipped kitchen to prepare happy hour for the beach or to put on the salmon for dinner. The glass doors off the living room take you to the deck, where you'll likely enjoy most meals. (The pelicans usually provide fascinating entertainment.)

The master bedroom, with California king bed and television, has its own full bath. The 2nd bedroom has 2 twin beds, sofa and trundle bed. There is a blow-up double mattress. Washer and dryer. Roku TV. Internet access.

NOTE: Due to fire restrictions outdoor grilling is not permitted. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Great connection with nature

Although we experienced some of the worst weather California has seen in years, we loved how close we were to nature, with pelicans overhead and waves visible from the living room. The host dealt with a few minor issues with great courtesy.

Family Reunion

We stayed in this beautiful condo for a week at the end of June, We have been coming to Pajaro Dunes annually for over forty years and have stayed in many condos and houses. I can honestly say that I particularly loved this one. It was very clean with comfortable beds and a well stocked kitchen. I especially liked the large showers with dual shower heads. The condo had everything we needed and more. We had our young granddaughters with us so we liked the fact that the condo was on the ground floor and single story. The girls loved watching the pelicans and cottontail bunnies from the big picture windows and the deck. It was also an easy walk with them down the boardwalk to the beach. I would definitely rent this condo again.

Graduation getaway

Spent 3 nights as part of a California vacation celebrating daughters college graduation. Great location for visiting Monterey and the area. Very nice to step out of condo and enjoy relaxing beach walks.

Wonderful Stay

We had a wonderful stay at Pajaro Dunes. The unit is as pictures a nice peek view of the ocean over the dunes and incredible water fowl viewing along the slough that feeds into the ocean. The rooms are comfortable and the showers are wonderful. It’s perfect for a family of four but our five were able to use the trundle bed as well. The hosts are communicative and kind. The his is my second stay at the property and I would rebook again in an instant if returning. You should definitely book without hesitation.

Our week at Pelican 75

My Brother and I enjoyed our week at Pelican 75. The birds were great. Everything went very smoothly from check in to check out. Great place to stay highly recommend. My only complaint was the single beds in front bedroom were more for kids not an adult and was not great for sleeping.

Great location with views of both the beach and the Pajaro river with lots of pelicans and other birds. Home is well laid out with comfortable beds. Clean but couches and carpet had a fair amount of pet hair for those with allergies.

Great Place & Fun times

The place was wonderful and enough space for the four of us. Nice and clean. Great views of the ocean and nature all around. Pretty close walk to the beach. Amenities are plentiful within the kitchen area. Our kids had a lot of fun too. The only down fall I see is that the twin beds aren’t as comfortable, and one of the beds, the mattresses moved around a lot. Maybe invest in a frame that holds the mattress in a bit better? Otherwise than that the place was great.

Great Location

Our family wanted to get out for Spring Break. Location is fantastic. The view of the beach/ocean from living area and kitchen is stellar. The condo pretty much has everything one might need in the kitchen and bathrooms. If you have younger kids the coffee table is glass and takes up a lot of space so they may bonk into it often. Kids wanted to stream shows. We disconnected all tablets and phones from WiFi to keep the shows going. Not a big deal, but just an FYI. Overall, we had an excellent time and would definitely recommend this home.

Relaxing and stunning at the same time...

Our accommodations were wonderful! The kitchen was very well equipped and this unit had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. The view out the windows and the short walk to the Pacific Ocean made our stay very special. We were in a group of condominiums (very quiet) yet this gated community had some interesting/unique/modern large homes that we enjoyed looking at when we were walking. Very close to the city of Watsonville, I would highly recommend driving down Ohlone Street in Watsonville and enjoy the beauty of the flowers and plants along this boulevard. If I came out this way again, I come back and stay here.

Perfect getaway

My family very much enjoyed our stay. The unit is well stocked, was very clean and is a great location! The bed in the main bedroom is VERY comfortable. We enjoyed our walks to the beach and also just watching the waves and wildlife from the living room window. My kids (10 & 13) have already asked to go back and make it an annual trip. Thank you to our wonderful host!!

Perfect in every way

We wish we could give 6 stars. Everything was amazing. We started the day watching the sun rise over the river with the otters and birds. And ended the day with beautiful sunsets over the ocean. The views were incredible. The condo was beautifully equipped. The kitchen had everything we needed. The bathrooms were remodeled and gorgeous. We texted the owner for help and got an immediate response. We couldn’t have asked for more.

I stayed here with some girlfriends and the condo was great. The only complaint I heard was that the pillows on the king bed weren’t comfortable. Everything else was really nice and I would stay here again and recommend it to friends. ☺️

Awesome location, Awesome time!!

We are a group of ladies ranging in age from 72 to 91. 3 of the ladies are from out of state. We all felt right at home, safe, & comfortable!! The weather could not have been better & the view was spectacular. If you are looking for a place to enjoy hearing the ocean, watching the birds, & being centrally located to see Monterey & Carmel one day, & travel north to Santa Cruz, Capitola, Aptos & Soquel, this is it!! Could not have been better!!

Wonderful Location

We stayed for a weekend in September to attend RR at Laguna Seca. By the look across the parking lot we were not the only ones! While we didn’t get to spend too much time at the apartment, we really enjoyed the location right on the beach. The apartment had all we needed, plenty of space, and the view outside the window was spectacular. Also easy access to the beach a few steps down on the sidewalk. We will have to come back for a less busy weekend to take full advantage of everything being offered!

Peaceful Pajaro stay

About the host

Hosted by Lauri Pastrone

John and Mary Pastrone bought Pelican 75 in the 1960s so their 3 young sons could enjoy beach weekends and escape the heat of the San Jose area. Today, a 3rd generation of grandchildren enjoy the same surroundings their fathers did 40 years ago when they were young. The property is currently managed by Lauri Pastrone, one of John and Mary's three daughters-in-law.

Why they chose this property

It's the ideal location at Pajaro Dunes. Quiet and private... in between the ocean and the river... with massive views of the ocean, river, and sand dunes. And it's ground level so that families can be indoors and out but still be together.
We have upgraded and updated over the past 5 years, including 2 full master bathrooms with dual showers, new furniture and many extras. And we have the best cleaning team in Pajaro Dunes.
