Exactly what we needed!!
Couldn’t have had a better week at the Blue Dog! Such a perfect, rustic cottage with the best view. Spent most our time on the beach and back deck - especially loved the porch swing. Hope to come again next summer!

Just love The Blue Dog!
Such a wonderful week at The Blue Dog! So sad that we left this morning, already looking forward to our week next year! The rustic peacefulness here is a privilege! New this year is high speed internet and cell service. Truly a plus as long as you don't let it distract you from the old world charm! 2020 has been a bad year in so many ways, but you'd never know it if you were lucky enough to spend a week at The Blue Dog! We have grandchildren (7, 9, & 12) that visited one afternoon (they live on Mullett Lake and have every imaginable water craft/toy) but asked to come back the following day. Just goes to show you that no matter the age the white sand beach and beautiful Lake Michigan at The Blue Dog will lighten every heart and soul!

Peace & Quiet / private beach overlooking Lake Michigan
Remote, rustic cabin with cozy furniture and spectacular views of Lake Michigan. Don't come here if you want to stay wired to technology however, as there isn't any WiFi, and cell reception is poor. Come to unwind, embrace nature and loved ones, and gaze at beautiful sunsets and more stars than you've ever seen.

Beautiful setting!
A wonderful place to unwind and relax. The views of the lake are magnificent and the cottage is rustic but functional and in great condition for a place built in 1916. Best for 4 adults or a family of 6

Perfect Retreat
Had a wonderful time at this charming cottage, July 2015. Amazing sunsets every night. Kitchen and bathrooms are modern and clean. The tunnel of trees was fun to drive. Hope to return next year.

classic up north cabin with great views
We stayed at the Blue Dog for a week in August 2011. The cabin was clean, comfortable and well decorated. It was well stocked with kitchen utensils and even had a charcoal grill. It has a great covered porch overlooking the lake with a swing along with a sundeck complete with lounge chairs. The blue dog is a great place to relax and watch the sunsets. The owner is very helpfull and quick to answer questions. The beach is not great for walks or swimming-it has alot of vegatation/rocks and the swimming area had alot of algae (at least when we were there), so I would not say you can walk for miles. You can, however, bike along the tunnel of trees or canoe/kayak if you happen to bring one along. We saw tons of wildlife, including a bald eagle. There is a great restaurant 7 miles away called Legs Inn that has waterfront-on bluff-dining. An excellent crepe food cart is only a mile away in front of the general store. There is a restaurant called the Fish which I had one of the worst meals I've seen in a restaurant-skip that one. The general store in good hart is famous for it's pies. I would definitely recommend the blue dog for a relaxing vacation on the water with your dog-just don't expect too much from the beach.

Great Times in Good Hart at the Blue Dog
We rented the Blue Dog 7/3-7/10/10 and had a GREAT time on the lake. The cabin was ideal for our family, and our Weimaraner, Sadie, had the dogcation of her lifetime. I've been spending time in northern Michigan for fifty years and the time spent at the Blue Dog was as memorable as any. We definitely will stay at the Blue Dog again and recommend the property to everyone. The lake, the forest, the tranquility of the time spent getting away from it all was exactly what we had anticipated.
