Perfect place to relax
The lake was so clean and clear with a wonderful swimming area . It was very relaxing to just sit and admire the view or paddle around in one of the boats provided . The cottage was clean and had everything that you would need . Perfect place for young toddlers too . I would highly recommend this cottage to families.

Cute rustic cabin
We enjoyed the quiet peaceful nature of Perch lake. The assortment for boat/canoe options was a plus for us. It was a more remote location for winding down, but close enough to Lake Michigan and touristy activities.

Rest and relax
I had been through a lot personally over the past 2 years, death of my mother in law, mom and husband. Working full time and mandatory overtime and recovering from shoulder surgery the last day in may. I needed some where quite relaxing and with a hot tub which helped my shoulder loosen up. Just to get away and I found it here at this beautiful cabin. I plan on returning in the future. Thank you

Great Stay!
We all had the best time! The cabin was perfect and the kids, 9 and 11 had so much fun on the kayaks and paddle boat. Had a little party around the fire pit, watching the fire works display across the lake. The beds were super comfy and the place has such cool decor. Kids want to go back again.

Amazing fall getaway
We had the best mini vacation at the cabin. It had everything we needed and more. Even though the weather was rainy and chilly, we got to enjoy the beautiful view of the lake and all the fall colors. We used the fireplace everyday and soaked in the hot tub a couple of nights. Loved the decor inside and the fact that there was a welcome "basket" when we arrived. We did leave the wine for the next guests to enjoy! Our dogs loved being able to play at the waters edge and being able to sniff all around the property. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was surprisingly big! We had to go to a wedding in TC, so it was nice to be able to get ready without tripping all over each other. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you could need and it even had a small dishwasher which was a bonus. Even though we didn't use it, the fire pit outside had a ton of seating and a great view of the lake. I took a ton of pictures and collected many beautiful leaves. My husband fished off the docks but didn't end up catching anything.... We really had a good time. Hopefully will be able to book a trip during the warmer months in the future!

Enjoyable & Relaxing
Just what we needed after a grouling work schedule this summer. There was enough to keep the young kiddos busy. Quiet and relaxing for the adults. The hot tub and fire pit were a hit and were both used each day. We caught some nice bass as well (catch and release). Thank you! We would absolutely recommend a stay.

A Calming Retreat
A great lake cabin on a cute little lake. The sunsets were wonderful! The owners were responsive when a few questions arose. It had everything one could think of for a good up ‘Up North’ experience for all ages. The home’s location near Traverse City was ideal for exploring this corner of Michigan. There were lots of adventures around, whether the weather was great or not-so-good. It was our first time checking out this area in-depth and we were amazed at the beauty, as well as everyone’s willingness to assure we had a great time everywhere we went. We loved our stay!

Fantastic rental experience for our family
My wife and I booked this cabin for 2 weeks in June with our adult daughters and 2 dogs. The cabin was perfect for our family; everything was clean and well laid out to accommodate us. The kitchen was stocked with a great selection of cooking and serving ware. All linens were included and the beds were super comfortable. There are 2 bedrooms on the ground level and a loft with 2 beds upstairs. There is a deck with a great view of the lake and it even has a hot tub! I like to fish and the rental included an array of boats; kayaks, canoe, peddle boat and row boat - all in great shape! There is a dock to fish from or launch any of the boats - it was just so perfect! I caught some nice bass and bluegill. There is a firepit by the lake and a supply of wood ready for use and the owner only asked for a donation. There is also a fantastic gas grill and wood smoker that I used to make a brisket one day that turned out great! The owners obviously take pride in keeping the place in fantastic shape and were always available if we had a question, but left us alone if we didn't - which is exactly what I prefer while on vacation. The location is great too, with a Dollar General only about 5 minutes away to pick up basic items and the town of Kalkaska only about 10 minutes away for anything more. We went exploring in Traverse City and Gaylord and each were less than an hour - nice easy drives. We highly recommend this rental property and look forward to coming back soon!

Great for a younger family
The adults (age 50+) who stayed in the loft complained of the steep stairs at night and since its an open loft, the noise. I think kids would find this a great place to sleep. In the small bedroom the couple could not sleep because the toilet flushing kept waking them up (we solved that by not flushing after bedtime). For our age group we should stick to two bathrooms. We loved the hot tub, paddle boat and bonfire.

We are retired administrators from Munson Healthcare and Michigan Public Schools. We both grew up in Western Michigan and wanted an opportunity for our sons to experience it too.
We celebrated every holiday at the cabin. three sons and their families enjoy the great outdoors and playing Bluegrass Music throughout Michigan and Massachusetts. We have owned, enjoyed and improved this cottage since 1987. It was our home full time for more than a year while we were permanently relocating to the Traverse City area. The cottage is lovingly updated yearly.

Why they chose this property

We found this breathtakingly beautiful log cottage with a perfect setting on a non-motor lake while we were vacationing "up north" in early 1987. We bought the cabin as a family Up North retreat. Swimming was a top request for our boys. They also loved fishing and catching turtles. It was safe for our kids when they were growing up and offered so many opportunities for area exploration and was close enough to Traverse City so we could enjoy all the opportunities in the entire area. It offered a very easy access to Traverse City without enduring the traffic of some of the major roads.

What makes this property unique

This is a quiet repose from the summer busy schedule in Traverse City, while easily accessible via paved county roads. It is also uniquely accessible to Cherry Capital Airport which is served by at least 3 major airlines. It also puts Mackinac Island and the Mackinac Bridge an easy day trip away. [100 miles]. The sleepy village of Alden is also a personal favorite. A day trip to Torch Lake and Elk Rapids is also delightful. There is great canoeing on the Manistee River or the Boardman River within 10 miles. Hiking trails are also plentiful in the area.
