About this property
NEW! The Joyful Cabin - Modern Upstate Cabin Vibe
Our joyful cabin is nestled on 6 wooded acres - this is the perfect place to rest and recharge. Soak in the sights in this modern upstate cabin and sound of nature while you breathe in the fresh forest air. Our cabin offers a peaceful secluded escape less than 7 minutes from our town of Woodstock with quick access to hikes, restaurants, cafes, farm to table dining, local goods, weekly farmers/flea markets and much more.
The space
Drive up the private road and listen to the gravel crackling as you pull up to a hidden gem of a getaway. Surrounded by tall pines and ferns, you’ll hear the leaves rustling in the wind, the birds chirping as your natural alarm clock, frogs croaking and the crickets singing a lullaby in the evening. Have a peace of mind knowing that although your retreat is secluded, you are only a few minutes from the town of Woodstock filled with unique shops, plenty of dining options and any necessities you may need.
Our goal is to provide a space to slow down and connect with friends and family, where you can create unforgettable memories you’ll want to experience again.
Enter into the living room, where the three skylights allow light to pour in and sun drench the entire space. The large windows allow you to connect with the lush surroundings - they act as pieces of art, showcasing the trees whether they’re bright green in the summer, dusted with snow in the winter, blooming in the spring, or crisping with colors in the fall. Pick a book from our curated mini library or cozy up with a movie on the 65” smart tv with Netflix, Hulu, and more. Connect to the vintage Marshall bluetooth speaker and put on your favorite playlist to set the mood. In the winter time, fire up the wood burning stove for a true upstate cabin vibe.
The living room flows directly into the airy, open concept kitchen which is fully stocked with all your needs to chef it up. The modern kitchen has been recently renovated and faces a great view of the expansive backyard and woods. Stop by a local farmer’s market to pick up some fresh ingredients and reserve at least one night for staying in for dinner - you won’t regret it. Take a walk down the road to Green Heron Farm for fresh eggs and pair with sourdough from Bread Alone in town… simple breakfast bliss.
A large kitchen island provides a great space for entertaining - set out a charcuterie board and nosh on some local bread, cheese and meats as you and your guests hang out and chat in the living room and dining room areas. Hire one of our recommended private chefs if you’re really in the mood to sit back and relax.
Our home has three bedrooms with queen sized beds and we promise - they are new and comfortable! The best days spent in the mountains are those fueled by a good night’s sleep, so we’ve designed our bedrooms to be restful to the core. Extra blankets and pillows are provided if you need them. The master bedroom has an en suite bathroom with a shower and bathtub with woodsy views. The two other guest rooms share a bathroom in the hallway, also with a shower and bathtub. A third full bathroom is located on the ground level. Our guests are provided with Public Goods shampoo, conditioner and body wash, so don’t worry about packing your own.
Take the stairs to the ground level and enter the rustic, cozy space designed with a guest’s entertainment experience in mind. On those rainy days and chilly nights, you’ll have plenty of activities to choose from. Play a game of pool, even if you have no idea what you’re doing, or play a group game of giant Jenga or Uno if that’s more your style. Play a movie or watch the game on the smart TV. Pick a record and play music the old school way or connect to bluetooth if you prefer. If you’re in the mood for some solitude, cozy up in the reading nook and escape into a good book with the pines in view.
You have plenty of outdoor options to choose from. Sip your morning coffee or evening cocktail on the main deck as you overlook the woods - it truly brings a feeling of peace. We have a brand new outdoor furniture set up that comfortably seats up to 8 people, a great place for friends and family to gather. Book a private yoga instructor session for a sublime start to your day. A charcoal grill is provided for those who wish to have an outdoor cooking experience. You can also choose the fire pit as your choice for outdoor cooking, but please be responsible! Don’t forget to look up and stargaze, it’s quite magical. Try out the screened in porch where you can relax, watch and listen to the wildlife.
The surrounding areas provide ample options for activities - we are less than 15 minutes away from numerous hikes, preserves, swimming holes and lakes. Take a leisurely stroll on the Ashokan rail trail, or gear up for a more intense hike at nearby Overlook Mountain with amazing views and secret hotel ruins at the top. We are a 30 minute drive to Hunter Mountain for world class skiing, snowboarding, and tubing in the winter and the largest zipline in the northern hemisphere during the summertime. Check out the charming towns of Woodstock, Saugerties, Kingston, Rhinebeck and more which all have their individual style with markets, shops, boutiques, cafes and dining to experience and explore. Upon booking, we’ll send over our detailed recommendation guide with our favorite spots.
Note: Parents, we have children’s amenities! A pack and play, high chair, dinnerware, toys and books are available upon request with no extra charge. There are plenty of kid friendly activities in the area such as farms with petting zoos and pick your own produce, easy nature walks, the world’s largest kaleidoscope and more.
